"From Florence, take the winding road to Antinori nel Chianti Classico in Bargino. With six centuries of wine production under its belt, Antinori is one of the most historic aziende (companies)." - Travel + Leisure Editors
12 Best Wine Tours and Tastings in Florence | Condé Nast Traveler
"Antinori nel Chianti Classico is nothing if not monumental: a striking contemporary sculptural edifice that epitomizes the winery's impact on Italy's history and culture. Antinori is one of the biggest (if not
the
biggest) producers of wine, and one of the most historic: the label defined, and then redefined, Chianti Classico, upgrading it from a table wine to a prestige one. The architecture, designed by Marco Casamonti, best exemplifies this grandeur. Antinori plays the classics; expect plenty of silky Chianti Classico." - Erica Firpo
One of the best experiences we had on our trip to Italy.
The winery is so well designed and very unique! The views with the beautiful staircase and the picturesque background of the rural Tuscan region is breathtaking.
The tour of the winery was well organized and offered lots of history and knowledge as to how a winery gets a DOCG certification on their wine bottles.
They have been creating and selling wine for almost 700 years!
The wine tasting portion of the tour was excellent, I do wish they they did provide us with cheese and meats to eat with our wine from the region to know that the wine pairs well with and because the tour is a little lengthy and you do build up an appetite.
The restaurant at the top of the winery closes at 4pm so if you want to eat after the tour be mindful of this and try to grab an early tour.
Overall, a wonderful experience! Would love to return one day to enjoy the restaurant with a beautiful view of Tuscany.

Nice experience,
We arrived early ~11:00, we parked out and there is transportation every 15 minutes or you can walk 500m to get the winery, place was not crowded, we were there with more few visitors only which was much more comfortable to experience the winery.
The architecture of the winery much more interesting than the wine :) it is amazing architecture and design.
You can buy wine or taste in the first floor, and restaurant located at third floor.
So it was nice experience, recommended.

Probably one of the best wineries I’ve visited in a long time. Not only are they rich in history, but the people working there are very knowledgeable and hospitable. There was an issue with our reservation, but once contacting the staff directly they were extremely helpful in sorting it out for us. The tour we booked was amazing, our tour started at 11 am and we were there til around 4-5 pm. We had a late lunch at the restaurant there which was included in our booking and that was an experience in itself. Different wines with each course perfectly paired with the food we were being served. Would recommend 10/10 and would visit again when in Italy again.

Visiting the renowned Antinori nel Chianti Classico was an experience we had eagerly anticipated, and it truly exceeded our expectations. The winery is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking architecture and a picturesque location atop a hill. We were fortunate to secure a reservation at the on-site restaurant, which I highly recommend to anyone stopping by. The ambiance is elegant, the staff are exceptionally attentive and kind, and the food is simply outstanding. Be sure to pair your meal with one of their local wines—it’s an absolute must. It’s easy to see why this place is so celebrated; it’s nothing short of exquisite.

Must visit winery given the notorious reputation of ‘Tignanello’ and ‘Solaia’. We did a tasting and this was done with great energy by the sommelier and thus very enjoyable.
We were lucky that the staff had opened a bottle of Solaia that day which meant that it was available for tasting by the tasting bar. So even though it is not on the list, make sure to ask if it is available for tasting! We paid 12 eur for a tasting glass of Tignanello and 50 eur for Solaia.
Be aware: there is not much to see at the winery if you did not manage to book a tour.

A must visit winery in Tuscany. The wines are exceptional, and the Antinori winery is beautifully integrated into the Tuscan hills. The tasting itself was informative with generous pours, I was hoping for a more professional tasting experience, ideally with food pairings to enhance the wines. The staff, however, was knowledgeable, offering great insights into the Antinori family's history and winemaking process.

This rating is based on the wine tasting experience, not the winery tour or the property itself (explained below).
Antinori nel Chianti Classico is a remarkable destination that seamlessly blends cutting-edge architecture with centuries of winemaking tradition. The winery is ingeniously integrated into the Tuscan hillside, featuring a rooftop vineyard that harmonizes with the surrounding landscape.
Visitors can ascend to the rooftop to enjoy panoramic views of the Chianti countryside, where the Rinuccio 1180 restaurant offers a dining experience with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking olive groves and historic churches. The winery's design not only provides aesthetic appeal but also utilizes natural elements for energy efficiency and optimal wine production conditions.
While the wines are of high quality, the tasting experience felt impersonal and commercial, lacking the personalized hospitality found in smaller, family-run wineries.
In summary, Antinori nel Chianti Classico offers a unique blend of modern design and traditional winemaking and an expensive wine tour. While the architectural and scenic aspects are impressive, the tasting experience might not be as good as the design of the property. Consider exploring smaller wineries in the region if you want a more personal and caring experience.

It’s beautiful but we didn’t feel comfortable… it feels like a corporate place, not a cozy winery. The tasting is very expensive, the wines were good tho. I would not come back. There are other better options around…

Yelp
Went here for lunch. The building structure is amazing with a spiral staircase, and many unique features. Parking is quite far away and a hike, but there is a shuttle, so patience pays off. We went to the roof top lunch place. We had reserved ahead of time as it otherwise may be hard to get a table. We have the prosciutto plate as a starter and then the duck and rabbit pasta for the main dish. Both dishes were very good. The wine list for the restaurant was a bit disappointing. They had a great variety but many were not Chianti. When in the largest producer of Chianti and in the middle of the district it as disappointing to see a very limited selection. Well worth the visit

Yelp
This winery is of course one of the largest in the area, and that is the feel it has. We were not expecting a small feel to this by any means so we were not surprised but the tour guide was so disinterested and it just felt like such a big commercial operation and it was truly a bummer. We explored a few other smaller vineyards while in Tuscany and I would recommend doing that so much more than this because they are so passionate about their work and they really don't seem to be that way here because they are so large.

Yelp
I would probably give no stars if I could. The staff at the entrance was kind but once we went in for the tasting things changed. The young man doing the tasting hardly gave us any information. He spent possibly 3 minutes with us. The wine was nothing to rave about. Very acidic - come here just for the scenery and to overpay for the wine. We thought we would try to learn more about the wine and the staff spoke to each other in italian complaining about our group. Guess I should have told him I speak italian. Definitely not the italian experience of a winery. There was no passion for their wine! For a moment, I felt like I was in a mall instead of a winery in Florence.

Yelp
My friends and I did a wine tour at this winery since it was very popular and we were told the scenery wouldn't disappoint. We did the Barriccaia tour which lasted about 1.5-2 hours. We learned all about the background history on how the winery/vineyard was established as well as what their popular wines being produced were and ended with a wine tasting of three different types of wine - a rose, a red wine, and a merlot. It was a good experience and the tour guide was very enthusiastic.
After the tour, we ate at the restaurant upstairs. Be sure to make a reservation in advance! We shared a bruschetta appetizer consisting of pate, tomatoes, olives, and cod fish along with the duck ragout and the roasted pig suckling entrees. Both were well made. The ragout pasta was very flavorful and there were good portions of duck pieces within. The roasted pig suckling was very delicious. The skin was crispy and the pork was tender.
Note: If you don't have a (rental) car as transportation, I highly suggest looking at the bus schedule or simply just calling a taxi. The taxi fare was ~59 euros from the central market in Florence, but it was split among four individuals so it wasn't too bad. Relying on the bus (especially on a weekend) can be quite stressful. It takes about 1-1.5 hours by bus or half an hour by car.

Yelp
Simply stated it may be the most beautiful Winery in the world. The setting, architecture, amenities and service make this place really special.
You park across the street in a large lot and wait for the nice shuttle to pick you up and take you into the winery itself.
It's highly recommend that you not only get an appointment for one of their numerous high-end tastings, but also secure a reservation at the restaurant on property... it's an amazing experience with great food and even better ambiance... Oh, and the wine is pretty good too.

Yelp
The wine, the food, the service, the views. An absolute MUST if visiting Chianti. One of the highlights of my entire Italian honeymoon. If you can, go to the restaurant. It was just sooooo good.

Yelp
We came here for lunch despite not having a reservation they found a seat for us . The service was fine but we struggled to
Find someone towards the end for More Water. The food was fantastic - the wine tasting was good and the sights were stunning. It was a super commercial
Experience so we were very glad we skipped the tour bc we have done many in the past. The wine was good but not the best we've ever had. The food was worth it though and we would highly recommend it for that and the spectacular views and architecture of the building

Yelp
This is the 'James Bond' of all wineries!
Incredibly impressive building that you can spend hours roaming around! To get the best experience, you should plan and make a reservation well in advance. You can still tour the winery yourself without the reservation. Pay attention to the details of the place! Best part was climbing the enormous spiral staircase onto the vineyards built on the roof!
In regards to the wine tasting, the samples start at $4, and go all the way to $11 for one taste of wine. I prefer the places which offer $5 for 3 samples so this wasn't the place for me to sample much. However I would still suggest to go just for the view.

Yelp
If you are in the Tuscany region, you need to visit Antinori just for the experience. The Antinori family has been making wine since the 1300's. You can say making wine is in their blood, of sort.
Tours need to be scheduled. You can view a short movie about the Antinori label in a state of the art amphitheater complete with plush italian leather chairs.
Architecturally, it's quite magnificent. Modern Italian design is mixed with environmentally conscious materials. The winery is built into a mountain in Bargino. The cellars are modern and spacious. And the staircase. Gorgeous is an understatement.
I thought the wine was good but not outstanding. I am partial to the Brunellos from Montalcino.
While our tourguide was good, I thought customer service could be enhanced. The tour felt rushed. The winery itself is very commercialized like any place in Napa. Not that I have anything against Napa wineries, but I just prefer the smaller and more intimate wine tastings in Tuscany where you get invited into their villa and pet their dogs and walk amongst the fig and olive trees.

Yelp
Our bottaia cru tour at Antinori was one of the best days of our entire trip through Tuscany. The property is truly breathtaking. If you are ever in the Florence or Tuscany area, you need to make a trip here (make reservations for the tour 2 months in advance). The tour started at 11:30am and ended around 3pm. It started off with a video about the history on the vineyard and a very thorough walking tour (inside the fermentation area, barrel storage, wine press, cork/bottling room). The tasting part of the tour was a little over an hour and there were 4 bottles of wine for 6 people. We had the Cervaro della sala chardonnay, badia a passignana, piano del vinne brunello, and tignanello in our tasting. After the tasting, there is a 3 course lunch paired with more wine. The first course was a rabbit ravioli with sage then seared lamb chops and finished off with a cheese/nut plate. The food was spectacular and paired so well with the wine.
I'll come back to Antinori every time we are in the Tuscany area! It is a magical experience worth every cent!!

Yelp
One of the oldest vineyard in Tuscany, they built this modern facility 13 years ago and open for public visit!
I recommend to try their restaurant after tasting. Pretty good food and you can order wine flight.

Yelp
Beautiful modern winery inside and out. A great experience. The wine and food is also pretty good. The draw back is the prices. Compared to other establishments, it feels like the cost is transferred to us, the customer. Otherwise recommend making a reservation and taking the time for a visit and tasting. The staff is courteous and informative. Taking you through the wine and olive oil making process. It is a beautiful structure inside and out.

Yelp
Perfect setting ! I have never seen a winery like this. The whole winery is made underground on side of a hill. They have a Resturant at the top with Fantastic views and equally Fantastic staff. Had a great afternoon there. Just 30 mins from Florence/firenze.
Angelica C.
Yelp
I was wowed with the architecture more than anything. Tours need to be scheduled in advance, fyi. I agree with a another yelper, though. It had a very commercial feel and the tour was rushed.
Only 40 minutes from Florence. This is definitely a place for architecture buffs to visit.

Yelp
Wow, the Death Star of wineries. Amazing place. Be sure and taste the better wines in the tasting room. Worth a visit.

Yelp
Go. Just go. This place was killer. Great wine selection, amazing food in the patio restaurant (make reservations), insane architecture. We had such a great time, we went twice on our trip.

Yelp
We just love the Chianti region and Antinori wines. To see one of their facilities walk among the grapes and of course drink Tignanello is magic. Another TIG moment in our lives.
Bill W.
Yelp
Such a cool place. Best option is to get a reservation an tour but this shy away because to didn't plan ahead. Great food at the outdoor resturant located on the roof of this amazing building.

Yelp
Terrible experience. Antinori is all about the money.
Impressive facilities and all that jazz, but don't visit if you are hoping to do any extensive wine tasting other than the 3 basic wines they offer as part of the 20 EUR guided tour.
As opposed to pretty much any other winery in the region, in Italy and in the world, they don't offer any free tastings or a tasting flight of 3-6 wines for a small fee covering their expenses. Instead they only sell wine by the glass or bottle, where the glasses are more expensive than my local wine bar and the bottles are more expensive than at my local supermarket, even for the exact same wine. What a total waste of time driving all the way there!
I advise any wine enthusiast considering visiting Antinori to carefully rethink their plans, and rather visit more authentic and honest wineries in the region, and if you want the best wine tour ever you should visit Barone Ricasoli instead.
