On the Grid : Antique Market

"Located in a quiet square north of the Golden Gate (right beyond the large statue of Grgur Ninski and his famous golden toe), is the local antique market. Vendors set up shop every day in the summers and invite locals and visitors alike to peruse their trinket-laden tables for antique treasures. The modestly sized outdoor market is the perfect place to find a memorable artifact or perhaps some historic furniture to bring home." - Leslie Yeh

We had the most amazing stay in this authentic 8 bedroom hotel. |It is beautifully decorated and the location is perfect for old town exploring. Our rooms overlooked the cathedral and we woke to the beautiful sounds of the bells. |The breakfast was perfect. |What really stood out was the can do attitude of the staff. They were so helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. |We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can highly recommend this hotel.

We had the most incredible stay at the Heritage Hotel Antique Split. The hotel is practically part of the cathedral and we had the most amazing view of the bell tower from our room. The room was modern, clean, and comfortable and the air conditioning worked great, even by American standards :-) When we arrived, we were allowed to check into our room early and we were treated with some homemade strawberry ice cream and various cold beverages. There was an espresso machine and various snacks that one could enjoy anytime. The breakfast was made to order and excellent. However, what made this hotel stand out the most (aside from its incredibly great location) was the exceptional staff. Ante and the man who welcomed us (Jon perhaps?) were so knowledgeable and so kind. They provided us with excellent recommendations and ensured that all of our needs were met. I highly highly recommend this hotel.

The staff's customer service, room comfort, the old town, and the hotel's breakfasts were superb! From the beginning of our 1-week stay to its end, Ana, Ante, Jan, and Ivan were outstanding in their assistance, friendliness, and professionalism. When we needed help with the hotel's nearby parking, luggage, local transportation, restaurant suggestions, and even a loan of beach towels for an impromptu beach visit, the Heritage Hotel Antique Split staff exceeded our expectations. Also, the hotel and our room were very clean, and the breakfasts--a combo of buffet and menu--were plentiful and delicious. And to have a room that included the stone masonry of walls within Diocletian's Palace was remarkable. In our opinion the value was well worth the price. No complaints about the hotel whatsoever! Highly recommended. For beach-goers: to have some comfort walking on the stony Dalmatian public beaches, consider bringing water slippers/shoes with thick rubber soles and be prepared to lay not on sand but on pebbles of cement bordering the water.

Divine little hotel tucked away in the old town facing the church tower. The view of the church from our room was incredible. Beds were super|Comfy and shower pressure was excellent. Highly recommend this hotel.|Make sure to arrange for them to come and greet you upon arrival at the old town as will never find the hotel on your own. Restaurants in the little square outside are excellent.

Not a single complaint!!! Upon arrival we were greeted so graciously. Checked in and were given a ton of local recommendations AND a packet containing historical information about the palace and sights around it!!! i found that to be so sweet. ||The rooms are AMAZING. So clean and so very cool. Your view, if you’re on the right side, is of the peristyle which is so amazing. ||The night before check out my boyfriend and I went to get a water. They already knew our check out date, offered to help with bags and ride accommodations, gifted us a parting gift, and planned to have us breakfast bags ready to go for the morning. ||seriously cannot recommend this hotel enough. thank you to the amazing staff

Quiet, out of way hotel in middle of Diocletian’s Palace. Large room with big bathroom and full size shower. Stayed in the middle of tourist season and it was really nice to step away from the craziness to a quiet, cool room. Highlight was the breakfast, which was made to order and the great service which is what made this a very special hotel. We interacted with Jan mostly but all of the staff was helpful and friendly. When we left we felt Jan was a friend. He was always there to greet us when we came into the lobby with questions about our stay and suggestions. He even walked us to the ferry on our departure. My wife left a jacket in the room and he saved us by putting it on the next ferry to Hvar so we had it later the same day! I highly recommend this hotel.

Absolutely wonderful staff that helps you take care of everything & enjoy your trip from the beginning to end. Thank you to Jan, Ante, and Ana for always going above and beyond from the moment we parked! We absolutely loved our stay, the location is amazing, and we also appreciated that the restrooms were renovated while still keep the charm of a luxury antique hotel. The made to order breakfast, staff assistance in any questions, & more!! Highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be back!

This is the best, boutique or otherwise, hotel experience we have had in our years of traveling. The location is easy to find in old town and right in the heart of the best sights. The view from our room was an amazing look out at the bell tower and even though it IS active, we enjoyed hearing the bells each morning and added to the charm.||The staff was attentive and couldn't be more helpful. Ante especially was always there at breakfast for us making sure we had the best experience possible. Great selection of foods, fruit, coffee, and service were always there. Don't skip on a traditional Croatian liquor tasting that is offered. Maybe not for breakfast but it is there any other time of the day too.||Parking is not available on-site and will be additional cost, but if you call and talk to the office, they will provide the address of the spots that are nearby and meet you at the parking when you arrive. Also serves the purpose to find the hotel the first time until you get your feel for the area. ||TIP: Make use of Google or Apple maps for walking around if you need it. Both apps do a great job of getting around.
