On the Grid : Highland Row Antiques

"This antiques store doesn't require any digging because it is already curated for you. Whether you are looking for an insane asylum sign or a mid-century modern desk, you are in the right place. It has a good mix of great furniture, weird oddities, and lots of character." - Polar Notion

Very well organized vintage and decor shop. A lot of cute pieces. They are a little bit pricey but very enjoyable. Highly recommend.

This is one of my favorite antiques stores. Period. The selection of unique treasures coupled with the size of the place is almost overwhelming. Just gird your loins, stay hydrated and take your time…you’ll be rewarded, trust me. The folks who work there are so helpful! They’ll not only unburden you of everything you’re carrying (and put it up front…freeing up your hands for more goodies!) but they’ll use their extensive and exhaustive knowledge to provide you with product details, pricing, etc. The space is well laid out, light and easily maneuvered! Check it out!

I am a huge fan of anything antique or vintage- whether it’s thrifting or visiting an estate sale or a true antique shop like Antiques and Beyond. If you are anything like me, just walking around this store can fill that happiness of seeing beautiful pieces of the past. I felt like this store just kept going and going, it was huge and jam-packed full of everything you can think of. Furniture, jewelry, books, clothing, statues and small decor, light fixtures, glass pieces, pictures/ prints/ frames, a bunch of christmas items and way more. There was a whole patio area we weren’t even able to look at because it was closed. I will say, unfortunately, the prices are pretty insanely steep here. It’s definitely a shop where the items are antique and prices more than reflect that. There were things here and there that were more reasonable, but a majority of the items would be ridiculous to purchase unless you have a pretty sumptuous income. I do think there’s room to bargain on some items, but as other reviews have noted definitely be aware of pricing if you come in here. But if nothing else it definitely makes for a very entertaining stroll around to see all there is!

Google
Nice store but EVERY time my wife and I go into the store we get the distinct feeling that they don’t want us there. They actually always have someone standing near me while I’m shopping - and never do they ask if I need help it leads me to believe they are watching me - which is ridiculous given that I’m a middle aged physician who lives in the neighborhood - and BTW I am Black Maybe it’s because I usually go after coming from the gym so I’m dressed in gym clothes? Which SHOULD not matter Nevertheless- I feel very uncomfortable every time I go and will probably never go back Fyi - we have purchased stuff from them most recently a $400 dragon stone

Been trying to get here for years, and today was the day. There's a lot going on. I kept running my hands over a lot of the ornate and textured surfaces. There's a lot of lamps, furniture, mid-century, clothes, knickknacks and more. Unfortunately, we didn't find anything today. It's hard when you're looking for something specific, but don't know what that is until you see. The search continues!

Google
Decent collection of ephemera and fine antiques. Very over-priced, and as an experienced thrifter (and designer) I have seen many an item plucked from another shop and marked up sky high. A memorable example is an unsigned charcoal sketch spotted and almost purchased from The Market (Woodstock) for $24 being sold here for $195 a week later. Many other items had previously been noted from Queen of Hearts locations and similarly marked up. Also, the gentlemen who work there seem to be always disgruntled and unwilling to converse. Not sure if it’s because I’m a young woman, but they treat older men with more hospitality. IMO there are much better shops OTP, and they’re obviously where these vendors also purchase. Edit to add: the other reviewers are correct; they do follow you around the store as if they expect you to steal something. Very condescending. I have visited many times hoping it would improve, but nope. Been warning fellow designers and antique shoppers away.

Google
I've been here for more than 15 years. Huge inventory of about 70 dealers spread through four storefronts. A little bit of every era with a focus on Mid-Century Modern. Large, friendly staff. Someone always available to answer questions and open one of many jewelry showcases. Very fast turnover for an antique mall. Always something new. But from bitter personal experience, if you like it you better buy in right then. It may be gone even an hour later.

Yelp
Absolutely not! This isn't your average antique store or mall. Consider this place a high end store with antiques and other fancy ugly stuff. Trust me, I visit enough antique stores to know that particular vintage glass pieces should not be $1,000K+. This stuff is used and should be priced as so. Tell me why, I spotted a rattan shelf that was literally $1,195 and it was small too. However, I was shopping at an antique mall in NC and found an even bigger rattan shelf selling for $195. Now, that's a steal. The dealers are obviously money-hungry and do not know what they are selling. They are price gouging because they think they need to. I spotted vintage glass that were from Fenton, Indiana Glass, Murano and a few vaseline glass pieces that were being sold for a crazy amount of money. Why?! You can find the same exact piece elsewhere for much less. I know about vintage glass and I go antiquing very frequently. I particularly visited this location looking for the Westmoreland Sitting Bird Candy dish in a frost green to add to my collection. However, I did not find it and the staff did not appear interested in helping me either. The staff can be described as not very friendly, will not greet you, and will treat you differently if you don't look like a rich snob. Upon walking in, I noticed one of the vendors running away to hide that was very weird. I will not be returning. This one will be added to the worst antique stores list. And by the way, if staff will treat an out of towner like this. Just imagine how they are treating the locals. I felt like I was back in Austin, Texas again, ha!

Yelp
We have been browsing many antique shops for a while and really liked this place. The people were friendly, the selection was varied, and the pricing was on point. Keep being nice, A&B- you won us over!

Yelp
This is the best Antique store in Atlanta. In terms of quality, quantity, tremendous selection, and finally service, it can't be beat. Plan on spending a lot of time because there is so much to see. (And buy)

Yelp
These people have LOST their f ***ing minds with these prices! I browsed through a good bit of the store and most of the things I picked up were items I have seen at goodwill, etsy, thrift stores, and even flea markets, yet priced at $100 or more! I was genuinely appalled at the basic painted vases marked at $150+, a weird old dirty baby doll was $200, painted cheap mannequin legs were $450!? Even some of the items that were clearly not vintage, or even old were priced ridiculously. The whole store feels like a scam on the rich people of buckhead, I walked out of here laughing

Yelp
My condo is a showplace of pieces from Antiques and Beyond. Nearly everything in my Buckhead apartment turned condo is an antique with a story, including me. People often comment that I live in a museum - guilty! I delight in walking a visitor through and explaining the provenance of each piece of furniture, painting, lamp, sculpture and yes, gewgaw, most of which came from A&B. My love affair with A&B began in the late nineties when an artsy lover, now departed, introduced me to A&B. Then when I bought my condo in 2000, I spent many a weekend there, culling for affordable treasures, both antique and unique, in my quest to make my home not only lovely, but interesting...each piece writing a verse in the touchable poem that is my home.

Yelp
I can't say I go antiquing often, but the mood strikes once in a while. While my husband and I were in Buckhead, we thought we'd check out the nearest antique store which happened to be off of Cheshire Bridge. This is a big store and it's easy to wander through the different sections/cubicles to see what they've got: furniture, tables, plates, collectibles...there are a lot of things here. Unfortunately, nothing really struck my fancy except for a blue end table which could easily be a nightstand too. Seemed like a fair price of $265 and I couldn't tell you more about it except it was a nice color that didn't really go with our house unfortunately. People who work here are friendly - always asking if you need help. They tend to hover a bit, but it's low key for a Sunday and I'm sure they were looking for people to chat with. They're a-ok here.

Yelp
Good selection of options. We liked a few pieces, but they were overpriced (20-40%+) compared to other local antique stores. Some of the pieces that were overpriced were not in the best shape either. A few items we found would have cost just as much to purchase brand new.

Yelp
My favorite place to shop for accessories and furniture! Reasonably priced and great service!

Yelp
Great selection and helpfully Staff of booth venders that rotate there schedule so someone is aways there to help. I always find a treasure there. Excellent selection of lampshades and also, do lamp and chandlileir repair Great location and plenty of parking. They will wrap and help load any items you buy.

Yelp
Antiques & Beyond is my happy place. No matter your budget, you will certainly find something beautiful for your home. While there are plenty of well preserved antique pieces in the thousands of dollars, they also have plenty of smaller, more reasonably priced items that are more accessible to the entry-level antique buyer. For example, today I was shopping for entryway tables, and there were plenty of options in the $200-300 range, which is comparable to what you would pay in a "regular" furniture store. But the quality here is certainly better than Rooms to Go, and the character of these pieces is unmatched. Outside of furniture, you'll also find new lampshades, antique silver and china, and plenty of jewelry and art. Technically, each little booth is owned and managed by a different vendor, so prices and selection can vary widely as you wander throughout the store. The store is much larger than it seems from the front, so be prepared to spend at least an hour to properly peruse the wares. Also, don't be afraid to take the numbers on the price tags as just suggestions. Even those tags marked "firm" are often up for negotiation.

Yelp
We stopped by this morning not knowing what time the store would open. It was about 10am and the store didn't open until 11. However, the men working saw us and let us in early anyhow. It was such a nice surprise and we really appreciated it. The store was HUGE. They had something to appeal to everyone's style. The prices were reasonable. I left with an awesome reclaimed mirror that I couldn't wait to put on my wall. I will definitely be stopping in once in a while to see what new stuff they bring in.

Pam B.

Yelp
Love the vintage home decor! I thought it was initially new wares that looked vintage. It's both.
google avatar

Matthew R.

Yelp
It's over ran by old people trying to hock thrift store finds. They historically had quality vendors, two years ago it all seemed to change. The prices do not reflect the loss of quality antiques or artwork.
google avatar

Eleanor A.

Yelp
Fabulous store! I bought several items and books from there yesterday, and I can't wait to go back again. Linens, furniture, books, and so much more! The staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Love this place.

Yelp
I'm FED UP with Antiques & Beyond. After purchasing a ton of things at their store for years, my last purchase was, in fact, my LAST. I bought six modern black chairs for $500 plus $50 tax and took them home. Immediately, when I set them in my kitchen at the table, I realized I made a mistake; they just looked horrible with my table, even though the style and color were okay -- by themselves. I hadn't even taken three of the chairs out of my car when I took them all back to the store the very next morning, asking for a refund. I WAS DENIED. I hadn't had the chairs but from 7 p.m. to about 11 a.m. the next day; about 16 hours. I couldn't believe it! The no-returns policy was NOT posted; it was a matter of pure whim. NOT a good way to run a business, particularly with someone who spends a lot of money at the store or who sends others there to do the same. So, DON'T GO TO ANTIQUES & BEYOND if you want to be treated well.

Yelp
Whoa, this place is huge. No matter your style, they'll likely have something you want to take home. Each booth is a little different, some with really great gems and other that leans more toward junk. They also have a wide span for what they consider antique: from Victorian furniture to Grace Jones posters, I'm not kidding when they say they have it all. Prices can be a little on the high side, but they're down to haggle. And there's tons of employees walking around willing to help you out. Plenty of parking and an easy place to kill an hour: worth a stop if you're looking to furnish your spot with something old (or at least, not new).

Yelp
Back in the day, like late 90's early 2000's I would come here once a week to scope the mod goodies they always had. After a long hiatus I found myself here with Rowan and although the mod stuff is pretty much gone, there are still some gems if you've got a couple hours to look at everything offered here. The employees/owners are amazing. One gentleman gave Rowan a little Pluto toy for being so cute, and another let her pet his Precious Chihuahua named... Precious. Love it. I will definitely be back from time to time, in search of MCM pieces for our house.

Yelp
A great, ever-changing mix. The staff is friendly and helpful. Be prepared to wander a couple of hours. A nice mix of antiques and price-ranges. I've gladly spent thousands over the years on some of my favorite pieces and will continue to do so. Great job, guys!

Yelp
This place is huge! There's a unique selection of items and the vendors are all very kind. Parking is simple.

Yelp
Ways in which it is just like every other upscale antique shop: Chock-full of sparkly-spangly costume jewelry, exceptional ephemera from the 30s, 40s and 50s and furniture you can't afford. Go if the idea of an afternooon of antiquin' is even remotely on your radar. Ways in which it differs from every other upscale antique shop: Open 7 days a week. 'Nuff said.

Steve R.

Yelp
When I get a chance , I go to this place for laughs ! The prices of the items are very high & it's full of gay guys tending their booths & they act all snobby like they're "all that" ! The guy with the diamond ring he claims belonged to Elvis Presley is a trip with no luggage ! I guess it's under new ownership . This place is full of Atlanta attitude queens and is a cultural experience but I never see anything with a reasonable price . I guess if you really like an item or need a certain piece you can overpay for it & doesn't matter . I recommend it for fun but the booth owners & staff are really pushy on the sales . Have Fun !!!

Yelp
Definitely a more 'upper-class' antique store. So the junk to treasure ratio is pretty low, which in my book isn't a great thing, I like to find treasure in the junk not be spoon-fed all the hand picked things. So they get a C+ there. Having said that, there are a lot of nice things but most of them will be far out of the normal price range compared to other antique stores. And they are quite unwilling to negotiate in my experiance, so a C in terms of prices. Overall, I'd say a solid B, you'll definitely find something you like but you probably won't buy it without breaking the bank.
google avatar

Ashley A.

Yelp
I have been calling stores in Atlanta for the past week inquiring about selling a particular item and every store has been very rude to me and just acted like I was wasting their time with junk. This is the first store that treated me like a valued customer and spoke to me with the same respect and dignity they would from someone buying thousands worth. I will be glad to do business with them just based on them knowing how to treat people.
google avatar

Matt W.

Yelp
A really cool place. I got a Persian rug for a GREAT deal.
google avatar

Nicole M.

Yelp
This place is huge. It's a typical multi-seller style antique market but it's very clean and most seller's alcoves are well organized. The staff is very helpful and they don't follow you around. They all seem to know what they have in the store if you are looking for something specific and they will steer you in the right direction. There were some extremely cool and really beautiful things here -- wish I had a lot of extra money, especially for some really beautiful old Tiffany silver. I suggest you allow yourself at least an hour to make sure you see absolutely everything.
google avatar

Steve R.

Yelp
This is the best antique store in atlanta. It reminds me of the lakewood antique shows actually. They have interesting stuff and reasonable prices. Its not all high end antiques. They get alot of quirky, cool stuff in. I have been shopping her for years and whenever i go i usually always see something i want. The store is very big and is everything is laid out very well and its all organized too.
google avatar

Rhett A.

Yelp
Great shop with mid range prices! Some industrial, some vintage, some antiques, but overall a great mix and something for everyone. Huge patio/garden area too. I never have problems finding items for clients here and the staff is always willing to help !
google avatar

Karuna S.

Yelp
I cannot emphasize how amazing this place is. The staff is all incredibly kind and helpful (shout out to Lucy for helping me find something for my parents anniversary) and we got a lot of great deals. They have everything, from vintage clothes (we got a designer dress for $25) to antique books. It even has coffee and vending machines so you could live there forever. Go there.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in today and was completely wowed by the selection. Lots of different styles and some amazing unique pieces. Great selection on lamps, and especially lamp shades. Everything from decorative objects to full sized pieces of furniture. Great atmosphere and selection.

Yelp
Always new things to see here - great place if you need a lampshade in any style or shape!

Yelp
Big place. Lots of stuff. Some of it seems really overpriced, but I did manage to find a very nice mohogany desk at a rather low price. I could easily spend a lot of money here. Good thing I have a small apartment.

Jeanne L.

Yelp
I came to Atlanta from Louisiana for a family event and had time for antiquing. I can't say enough good things about this shop. The selection is diverse and the merchandise is high quality. Believe me, as a dealer, I know that shops this nice are getting few and far between. Very friendly dealers especially Mr. D and the lady that wrote up my purchase. Worth a trip for sure. Jeanne Anne Baton Rouge, LA

PJ M.

Yelp
The folks here are very nice, extremely friendly and customer service oriented. Yes, there is quite a bit of merchandise that's not my taste...but it may be your taste. I have purchased 3 beautiful pieces of furniture here made by great manufacturers (Baker, Davis Cabinet Co., 50-s era Henredon) that would have cost 5 times as much if purchased new from Mathews. This store is definitely worth the time to stroll through if you are decorating/designing on a budget OR want an antique treasure at a reasonable price.

Katherine R.

Yelp
Overall, I was quite disappointed with the selection at Antiques & Beyond. First of all, the vast majority of the items sold in this shop are NOT true antiques. Rather, they offer Asian-inspired trinkets, cheap statues, vintage toy robots, gaudy, poor quality lamps and lamp shades, and other miscellaneous crap. Their merchandise was neither well-marked/well-labeled nor attractively displayed. I have been in several more appealing antique shops/antique malls, and I would not travel any distance to visit this one. Antiques & Beyond's selection will be particularly disappointing to the person who is shopping for high-quality antique furniture; you will simply not find it here, unless you're looking for cheap mid-century modern pieces. Flea market would be a better descriptor than antique shop.
