I got a recommendation from a tour guide to have dinner at Antunes Restaurante in Porto. They serve traditional, authentic Portuguese dishes. I went hoping to try Galinha de Cabidela, but unfortunately, they didn’t have it available that day. Instead, I ordered bolinhos de bacalhau and a turkey dish — both were undeniably delicious. The service was okay; the restaurant was quite busy, so it’s understandable that it wasn’t flawless. I recommend making a reservation or arriving right when they open to avoid the rush. Overall, I highly recommend Antunes to anyone looking for an authentic taste of Porto’s local cuisine.

Feels like a typical tourist trap type of restaurant with basic Portuguese cuisine and lacklustre service. Very disappointing experience here. We made a reservation well in advance. We were still made to wait at the door, and then once we were seated, we had an abnormally long wait for a waiter to even bring a menu, let alone take a drink order. The restaurant was maybe 1/4 full. The service was very curt and almost rude, and very, very slow. We came here specifically for the tripe, which is a specialty of theirs and not available at a lot of Porto restaurants. Despite getting there not even 20 minutes after they opened for the evening, they were allegedly sold out. You mean, you didn't make it. That was a big problem for us. We would have understood if they had been open a few hours already as it is a popular dish. But it wasn't, and nobody else had it on their tables either. A large group of elderly Portuguese folks next to us tried ordering it as well and were told the same thing. How you can be known as one of the best/only places for this regional dish, and then just not have it all the time, is very poor management. It's only tripe! Not a rare cut of meat. We ordered the pork knuckle to share then. It was mid. I've had much better pork knuckle in Eastern Europe and in Philippines cuisine. This was swimming in oil and very fatty. The garlic bread was very delicious, but that is not a difficult thing to do. Portion size was decent, however. I will say that was positive.

Tourists and locals, this place is a amazing. If you want traditional portuguese food do not look anywhere else. As soon as we sat down we were greeted by a very welcoming server and were served bread right away. The food arrived to the table fast but it was amazing, the portion sizes were perfect and all the flavours were homemade (comida á portuguesa). We truly felt at home eating in this restaurant. The owners were super sweet and took some time from their own dinner to speak with us. Truly the best restaurant in Porto! P.S. Do not fall for the food by the water as it is not traditional. -Marcelo e Stephanie do Canada

Amazing restaurant, the portions are big, we tried starters and the pork knuckle, as well as Brazilian steak and they were both delicious. Unfortunately, we didn't have the space for the dessert.

This was recommended by our taxi driver. He rates it. This does appear to be trad Portughese-i dont think they waste meat. The problem is that I simply did not like it, not because it lacked taste but because I am not sure what I was eating. It was the meat stew and I think I may have just sampled: tongue, ear, cock? I simply do not know. Prices were good, friendly service....very busy

As other reviewers have commented, the pernil asado is a massive portion. Even with three people sharing the dish, we had leftovers to take home. It was a little dry on the outside but the meat towards the bone was tender and delicious. The mystery green mash was also delicious. The grilled fish was decent. Overall, a great value meal if you are coming as a group! I arrived a little before they opened at 7pm without reservations and was able to get a table.

Hands down one of the best restaurants, if not the best, in Porto. The roasted pork knuckle is delicious and juicy from start to finish and is very filling for 2 persons. Really good value and quality! Very attentive service as well.

Best restaurant in Porto I've been to! Very welcoming owners with local food: would absolutely recommend the Pork knee which was fantastic! Consider ordering the wine of the house and beware that portions are very abundant so be careful not to order too much food. The price was very good, would absolutely recommend!
