Delayed review, but I do want to give credit to a well run operation.
I traveled from Canada to Antur Stiniog to ride with my cousin who lives in the area, and as such I didn't have much of my own equipment with me. I booked ahead and they were able to reserve a downhill bike for me, but crucially, were able to provide one with the brakes in my familiar setup. I'm usually rather particular in my bikes and know how hard rental stock can be ridden so I was very pleasantly surprised and how well maintained the rental bike was, and that the brakes were not only swapped as I had requested about but had a great bite and felt like they had been freshly bled which greatly contributed to my fun riding the park.
The trails themselves were super fun and the uplift kept a great pace for how we were riding considering how I come from a spoiled place of chairlift access. The wait times when we had them were reasonable and welcomed as a rest. I wouldn't want to crash at speed on some of the pointy rocks, and did find that the majority of trails lean towards the more advanced rider so fair warning to those who are coming out to just have a punt on a bike. I would be keen to ride them again with a bit more familiarity as I can see how much potential I left in them.
Oh, and the cafe was great. I really enjoyed the lamb burger and again, a nice contrast to the mega resorts I have visited before. All the staff were super friendly and helpful and felt like they were invested and cared about the company and area. I appreciated how beautiful the area is and it felt like "proper Wales", and as a tourist, its nice to see regional culture instead of the homogenous meh that's killing the resorts in North America. Zero stars Aspen, Five stars Antur Stiniog.
