This is the remenace of a once great diamond capital of the world. Now? Just a slowly decaying industry. I doubt it will survive for more than 10 years. The entire industry is dying a slow death. Look around you, look at all the empty buildings, look at all the empty shops... between the paradigm shift and the lab grown diamonds, there is really no reason to destroy our environment for a stone that can be grown in the lab with a large supply of natural diamonds locked behind vaults. Diamonds are truly unique and the more you learn about it, the more you'll appreciate it. Don't trust anyone. I go into jewlery shops for fun, and they lie to my face all the time. Few are honest. But buyer beware.

Amazing. Diamonds everywhere. I even tripped on one that was barely noticable as they allways live with just 10% above the pavement. Seriously, do not buy diamonds. It is a trap. Diamonds have no value.

This is a really nice place. I loved it here so much. But be careful, there might be single shops that are selling synthetic diamonds or less quality diamonds than you are told. In particular shops that give lots of discount might be suspicious. As it seems colour of diamonds can be changed in an industrial process. Just go to offically certified jewellers. I think I could also have been cheated because the reviews of the shop I read afterwards were really bad. I just want to warn you. Maybe check the reviews of the shop before you buy. Noone has warned me and I can just recommend go to trusted shops. I have not known myself either. Brightness and colour of diamonds can be changed and even with a microscope it is not easy to say what has happened to the stone. I went to Diamondland and Antwerp Diamonds Claus & Orsini. These shops really helped me out to find out what ring I have bought. Employees are friendly and you get good value for money with an official certificate. But there are also lots of good and high quality, classy other shops. Just be careful and then you will have a nice rememberance. I was talking to many really nice and honest shop owners. I will come here again to buy the next diamond ring. You will not regret it. To me the prices were really reasonable.

While visiting Antverp diamond district, I notice that the place is wery well secured, I was making photos and videos and all of a sudden the undercover police officers approach to me with five armed soldier's, I had to explain my situation and provide them with national I'd card and IMEI of the phone, they also empty my back pack and check for something.... The diamond Street is a worthwhile if you are planing to buy a engagement ring, all kind of yuwlery, they also sell diamond by pieces, you can by anykind of gold( yellow, rosegold, white gold), silver of anny kind with different stones not yust diamonds. The salesman are wery polite and respectful to the customers. Definitely worth the trip.

A secluded gem? Who will tell? The neighbourhood where precious stones are being traded on a daily basis is located near the grand central station. Here, you will be walking through the heart of the diamond trade, which has been around for roughly 500 years. The Hoveniersstraat is a pedestrian area where you'll bump into the folks who make sure that there is a lot of bling shimmering out there in the real world, on TV and in magazines. The eyes of your fiancée sparkle like a shining star because of their work. That's right, just ask yourself the question if they solely glint because you have popped the question! In this part of town, you'll also find a few places that sell fantastic kosher food, like Rachel's Falafel. The diamond museum in this district is currently closed due to renovations. You can find more information on diamonds at DIVA, the diamond museum, where they currently have a section dedicated to this colourless, extremely hard, highly refractive crystalline form of carbon. This district is one of the most safeguarded in Antwerp. Getting past security isn't that tricky. My advice to avoid random cavity searches, which is a plus when travelling, is simple: Look like a tourist! Taking multiple awe-inspiring photographs will undoubtedly work in your favour. A wide-ranging mix of cultures will sneak by while you are the best sightseer you can be. The ice unites everybody here in Antwerp and proves that we do coexist. Humour me, camera, lights, action!
