"For breakfast, we went to Anuenue Café — they have amazing French toast. We got the Hawaiian sweet bread French toast topped with berry and lemon curd."

Went here twice for breakfast and it was consistently delicious! The food is flavorful, seasoned perfectly and the eggs are incredibly fluffy. Even our picky toddler ate an entire portion of scrambled eggs! We loved the surfer’s bowl, the tube ride, the mea kanu and the rip ride :) don’t skip out on their cold brew either because it was one of the best we’ve had on the island. The service is quick and friendly. There are two tables with benches you can use to eat right next to the restaurant.

Only takeout! We stopped by and tried the sugar cane juice, which was refreshing and enjoyable! For breakfast, we ordered the French toast and an omelette. While the food was good, I was a bit disappointed by their policy on substitutions. We asked to have the bacon removed from the omelette and to add fruit instead, and they informed us this would cost an extra $2. Charging extra for such a simple substitution felt unreasonable to me. Overall, the food itself was good, but the substitution policy left a less-than-ideal impression.

Eat here! Great French toast and Benedict. Food comes out quick. Outdoor seating is great in a tropical location. Located in a shopping area in Poipu

The surfer bowl was delicious. It was a fantastic mix of flavours in a bowl. Takeout only and there is one picnic table outside of the restaurant.

Traditionally Modern Food

We stood in the queue for 5 minutes, but it was totally worth it. The French toast was so good. We tried the sugarcane juice, but it was too sweet—I wish they had added lemon. The food came out very quickly.

I was just chilling at our condo on Poipu Beach and eventually got hungry for some breakfast. Looked around and came across Anuenue Cafe in which it looked to get great reviews so I decided to walk over. Came at around 9 AM on a Monday and they were a little busy with a bit of a line but the wait wasn’t long. The lady who took our order was nice. I got the Tail-Slide French Toast with Portuguese sausage and an extra side of Kalua pork as my meal. The food didn’t take long to come out. When it did, everything was amazing! The French toast was cooked perfectly and tasted great, the sausage was good, but the Kalua Pork… Wow that was some of the best I’ve ever had. Super juicy, flavorful, and hot. Overall, this was a great experience! If you’re staying on Poipu Beach and looking for a great brunch spot, Anuenue Cafe gets a high recommendation from me! I’ll definitely come back.

Google
During our stay on Kauai we would try to find and support the smaller cafes and restaurants. If you are of the same mind the Anuenue Cafe is nice breakfast spot to try. It's a great pickup and go place. Seating outside the shop is limited but this is Hawaii, where you can find many other places to take your food and sit nearby. I ordered the Tube Ride French toast and it was delicious. It's a big slice of Hawaiian sweet bread with house made lemon curd and berry coulis. With it I ordered scrambled eggs and bacon. All very tasty. We had a large order for the five of us but it didn't take too long even though it was super busy. We were glad we got there a little after opening.

Google
We loved this for breakfast, read the reviews and decided to try it for ourselves, it was fantastic! There’s not much seating but you can find benches to sit on outside.

Stacy G.

Yelp
The food is well made and delicious. You can sit outside with a cup of coffee. There is a line but it moves fast. Best breakfast place!

Yelp
Awesome little breakfast spot in the Poipu area. Maybe a little too small... A short waiting list. Surfer bowl: -good amount of steak, potatoes, nice eggs -grilled salsa was great, not spicy Brekke burrito (kalua pork) + avocado (+$2): -big burrito!! Pretty much perfect, although the avocado is kind of just a small scoop of mush, probably not worth 2 dollars extra (aug 2019)

Yelp
Yummy breakfast! It's a to go place but there is a small area next to Anuenue where you can sit and enjoy your food. Everything we ordered was so good. The kahlua pork fried rice (watch out for the jalepenos); the Shark omelet was full of meat for meat lovers; and the side of hauoia French toast was amazing. Lots of cute shops to checkout in the area after eating!

Yelp
Wow this magnificent veggie fried-rice is more than just a delicious breakfast! Amazing flavors make this meal more of a love letter to me. Yes, Chef! Yes, I love you, too, for cooking this perfect plate of yummy goodness. If we ever meet, I promise to thank you myself. I've tried almost everything on the menu here at Anuenue, and everything is spectacular including the location and atmosphere. I return often for the overnight oats, hibiscus tea and now my all-time favorite veggie fried-rice! Yum!

Yelp
Best breakfast I've ever had! Everything tasted fresh. This bowl came with 3 different types of meat and we got lucky and came before the crowd. There are plenty of nice eating areas around the shopping center. The restaurant doesn't offer any seating.

Yelp
Tucked in Po'ipu shopping village, Anuenue Cafe offers delicious breakfast options! It is counter service and they have limited seating to the right of their building. If that area is crowded, you can always take your meal to the middle of the shopping village where there is plenty of area of sit. Beware of the birds and chickens though - they will approach! I opted for the Mea Kanu omelet. It was a good sized omelet, filled with a variety of veggies and topped with pesto, balsalmic drizzle, and cherry tomates. I also got a little taste of their overnight oats which were good! My order came out timely and the service was friendly. If you're looking for breakfast on the go, Anuenue would be a great place to pick up from. The menu is diverse offering a unique blend of tradtional American and Hawaiian style brekfasts.

Yelp
Amazing breakfast that you can get relatively quickly without having to dine in. We ordered the french toast and an omelette. Both absolutely delicious. The French toast is definitely a must order. Fluffy, sweet, and cooked to perfection. The shark omelette which is basically bacon, kulia pork, and ham was a bit salty but definitely a good choice. Portion sizes were on the smaller side (1 piece of French toast) and definitely left us wanting a bit more. Service was friendly and quick. The location is a small spot with 1 outside table for seating. Perfect for taking out back to your resort or eating around the shop plaza. This place is a must check out for a quick and absolutely delicious breakfast

Yelp
There was a line forming before they even opened! But the food came out fast. We got the Surfer Bowl to share. It was huge and delicious. Had eggs cooked to order, 3 kinds of meat, rice, cheese sauce, and a variety of veggies. So good. The coffee was good too! There's nowhere to eat inside so you can eat at the picnic table outside the cafe or take the food to eat elsewhere like on the beach

Yelp
Small cute place. My family and I, stopped here twice for their breakfast! Which was amazing! Not to much sitting area though... I had the plain French toast which came with 1 big piece of French toast, 2 eggs, and 3 pieces of bacon .. amazing!!! The service was fast, and quick. The girl greets you with a smile and is pleasant :) Would definitely be back, next time in town.

Yelp
A takeout cafe in a cute mall with several dining options including this one. A limited menu that may check boxes for some. The food is fresh and prepared onsite. Everything is served in to-go boxes with plastic ware. Overnight oats and eggs with Portuguese sausage were good. Pleasant and efficient service was a plus. Points off for the lack of tables outside.
google avatar

Yelp
Sooo good. Cute little take out. The French toast with lemon curd and berries is delicious! You will dream of it!

Yelp
Had a yummy breakfast here on my first day in Kauai before hiking. The surfer bowl was hefty but had a nice mix of meat and veggies topped with a rich cheese sauce. The tow in had a huge piece of French toast, and we loved the crispy bacon. Great way to start the day!

Yelp
Asking the concierge at my place of lodging about where to get a good breakfast, he touted a restaurant in a nearby hotel property. When I walked down to look I observed that though the hotel was on the oceanfront the restaurant was not. Also that the cost of breakfast for two there would likely set me back upwards of $80. Lucky for me I then discovered Anuenue Cafe, a place I returned to twice during my stay. It also wasn't on the water but neither was it going to set me back anywhere near the cost of breakfast at a hotel restaurant. Anuenue Cafe serves voluminous portions of meaty and carb-rich food that doesn't just taste great, it'll also keep you sated until late into the afternoon. The huge Shark Omelet ($17) accompanied by a hearty scoop of delicious Overnight Oats is just one example. Filled to bursting with sautéed bacon, Portuguese sausage, kalua pork, and cheddar cheese this could easily be a breakfast for two. And what everyone says about the pork here is true: you'll love it. With its fast-casual service model and 100% al fresco picnic table dining, Anuenue Cafe is running laps around whatever you'd wind up with at the hotel restaurant that the concierge might've steered you towards. If you want a big and hearty breakfast they've got you covered like a big warm blanket.

Yelp
This is located in the Poipu Shopping Village mall so there is a lot of parking! Omg, I loved our breakfast here. It is a to-go style place so we just found some seating around the mall. Great service and pretty fast order. We got the surfer bowl and the tube ride french toast. The surfer bowl was soo tasty and such a great portion. The white cheddar cheese sauce on top is a game-changer. The tube ride french toast was also such a great portion since it comes with 2 eggs and a choice of meat. The french toast itself is a Hawaiian sweet bread which was so delicious and fluffy and the lemon curd and berry coulis on top was the perfect sweet and tart combination. Highly highly enjoyed this meal and would definitely come back.

Yelp
This cafe was so good! We got the French toast and The Shark omelette as amazing; filled with egg, cheese, Polynesian sausage, pork and it was 10/10. So happy we found this little cafe! The oats also were a side of the omelette and it was so yummy. We loved this little walk up cafe with food to go, we enjoyed it on the side of the beach.

Yelp
I think this might have been my favorite breakfast on the island. I was able to try two of their benedicts and they provided a range of great flavors from savory to sweet. The fresh sugar cane juices helped tie everything together. Lastly the overnight oats were soooooo good. I honestly need to see if there's a copycat recipe somewhere online where I can make this for myself. Do not think twice about stopping in. You won't be disappointed.... It's a small joint but seating is plentiful in the plaza.
google avatar

Yelp
Everything was delicious. Large portions. Fresh. Best breakfast we've had on the island so far

Yelp
Walkup order and sit restaurant. Only one bench to sit outside with covered awning. Food was a bit lack-luster. Haupia French toast was a disappointment- one piece of Haupia on top of a piece of dry French toast. What a disappointment- they don't even offer different syrups- just a little container of maple syrup and no butter. From the previous reviews, I was expecting much more.
google avatar

Rachel H.

Yelp
I came here for breakfast since my hotel was so close, and I was disappointed. I ordered the Kalua pork fried rice with scrambled eggs, and they totally forgot about my order. People who were behind me were getting their food first, and when I brought it up, there was a "glitch" with their printer. When my food was finally brought out, you could tell it was done in haste. My rice was really white without any hint of being fried, and the flavors in the rice didn't marry well together. At least I got a complimentary plantation iced tea.
google avatar

Jeremy T.

Yelp
I loved the French toast. We got both the haupia and raspberry lemon. Both were excellent. I only give this 4 stars because it is pretty expensive for what you get. I wasn't completely full when I was done.

Yelp
The wife, the friends and I were tooling around Kauai for a week and we wanted to grab some breakfast. Staying in Poipu there are surprisingly few places open for breakfast. I found this place on Yelp and we went to check it out. Line was out the door, which makes sense since it is small inside and no seating. Place your order and they bring it outside. After ordering we sat down at the single picnic table with other customers. All the food we saw liked good. The food came out very quickly and piping hot. All served in to-go containers. The wife ordered the Tube Rider with scrambled eggs, Portuguese sausage and French toast slice with a raspberry and lemon coulis (huh?). She really liked it. The sausage was delicious. I ordered the Kalua fried rice. It was not really fried rice. It was two scoops of white rice with Kalua pork mixed in. I had two eggs over medium with that. Very, very good. We were stuffed and did not finish either of our meals. Couldn't take it to go since we were running around after. I recommend going to enjoy some good island food. The server we dealt with was very nice and made sure the food was good and that we had everything we needed. Go. Eat Well. Have Fun!
google avatar

Yelp
The food was amazing ordered the Tube ride and the shark omelet. Great service friendly and quick. The portions were large great place to eat. Definitely will be back

Yelp
Overall a pretty nice eating experience. The serving sizes were just right to fill you up until dinner. The French toast (light and fluffy) and Portuguese sausage not spicy is a good choice. The surfer bowl was my choice and was a little too much for me (serving size) but the flavor was nicely done. Eggs nice and fluffy, white sauce not overly heavy and the mix with the kalua pork and Portuguese sausage was evenly done. Very nice choice for my palate. Friendly service and the cooks in the back, bravo for the tasty meal and very very very quick turn. My hats off for the crew in the back of the house, job well done. The front of the house, nice and friendly cashier woman, was very efficient as well taking orders, cashiering and handing out the food orders. They all deserve and job well done and also thank you for sharing the Aloha spirit. MAHALO!

Yelp
Anuenue Cafe is located in Poipu Shopping Village and they have their own free parking lot. This restaurant opens early and there will be a line outside the door before the doors open too! The portions are generous and the food is full of great stuff! LOCOMOCO is solid good! It was a great hefty breakfast for one of our busiest hiking days. AVO TOAST was great and was large enough to share. The bread is very good too. I forgot to ask where it came from. There is one long communal picnic table outside the café if you want to eat here, but there are other spots in the center. The workers are all so friendly and super fast. No island time here at all. Large parking lot behind the shops that are part of the center.
google avatar

Emma F.

Yelp
Came here since so many people raved about their brunch. Had the Kalua Pork fried rice as well as a side of the french toast. The servings were quite generous and very filling. The fried rice was good, but found the sauce a bit overpowering. Overall, expected to like this place more than I did after hearing so many great reviews. There is some seating outside around the other buildings.
google avatar

Makoto L.

Yelp
The foods good and all but it all comes from Costco so anyone can make these dishes if you want to put in the effort. It's pretty expensive for what it is. But rent there is expensive so it gets passed to the customer.
google avatar

Steven S.

Yelp
Easily the best breakfast we've had on island! The side of cold oats balanced the omelet so well.
google avatar

Virginia A.

Yelp
Food was good. Good selection. Seating is limited...a bench is immediately outside and another bench around the next building. You might make new friends as you share a bench with another couple or family. And chickens. Went to this place twice during my stay. French toast was delicious. Cashiers were friendly.
google avatar

Sarah G.

Yelp
We went on a Monday around 8:10 and waited in line for about 15 minutes to order. Once we ordered, it only took 5 minutes for our food to come out - so don't let the line detour you. Food was delicious! The Portuguese sausage was a hit with the entire family. We opted for the plain French toast (tail slide) because the family isn't a fan of coconut and lemon curd in the other two options. But it was made on a thick Hawaiian bread that was nice and fluffy. The kalua pork fried rice was delicious but seemed more like a "white rice scramble" than fried rice so we were a little thrown off. The restaurant is within a little shopping center. There are small outdoor tables on the side of the restaurant but not too much seating. Since the tables were taken, we took it around the corner to a big open air amphitheater area. Overall, well worth it and we will be back on our next trip!
google avatar

Ron H.

Yelp
Great friendly service by the one girl we dealt with. Bacon was really good, eggs were good too, French toast is kind of plain and could use more flavorings. Kalaheo Cafe cinnamon roll French toast is amazing in comparison. But if you like and get the specialty French toast options they offer, maybe that would work better for you. My wife got the Surfer Bowl and it wasn't very good, just fair, and she wished they had Kauai Roastery espresso and mochas's like Eden cafe does, so she would rate it low to mid 3's overall and low to mid 4's for me, so a 4 combined.
google avatar

Ted T.

Yelp
Surfer bowl had a lot of flavor and was unique where you can't get this anywhere else
google avatar

Gerard V.

Yelp
Nice area to walk around and eat. My order was average in taste. The sausage was a bit dry. Overall the food was ok. They take Apple pay which is great!
google avatar

Pallavi P.

Yelp
A solid breakfast spot in the Poipu shopping village. Parking is free and easy. Fast and friendly service. It's mainly a grab & go place, but they do have a long communal table outside where you can eat, as you soak in the island vibe. I can see how this place may get crowded at peak times, since the actual cafe is rather small, by we went there at about 11am and walked right in. The food is served in compostable to-go boxes making it easy to take along your leftovers, 'coz you're likely to have some! We got the Shark Omelette (no Sharks, just big!!) which was stuffed with bacon, sausage and pork and served with a side of overnight oats and a slice of fresh pineapple. We also had the Tube Rider French toast with two scrambled eggs and Portuguese sausage on the side. The French toast was made of a slice of amazing Hawaiian bread topped with lemon curd and berry coulis. This was the perfect balance of sweet and tart and I think I'm going to dream about it for a while! They also give you packets of hot sauce - the habanero ginger packed a punch and went perfectly with the eggs. They're only open until noon, so make your way there to start your day off right!
google avatar

Chris K.

Yelp
This place was really great. Food came out very fast and breakfast was super. They didn't have much in the way of coffees other than basics - so we opted for our iced coffees at a nearby business. I got the surfer bowl and it was stellar. My partner got the french toast and suggested it wasn't as fantastic. Good, but not great. Staff was super nice and they had some small outdoor seating areas - with lots of chickens to keep you company.
google avatar

Daphne S.

Yelp
The food here is amazing! I came here 3 times during our last week long stay. I'm not sure what sauce they put on the Kalua Pork Fried Rice but it is addicting. The Haupia French Toast is also a great sweet option, while not being too sweet. There might be a short line depending on what time you get there but after ordering, the food comes out pretty quick. A must try if you're visiting the Poipu area!

Brit F.

Yelp
French toast tasted great. But I couldn't tell you the last time I paid $20 per person for breakfast that you just eat on a bench and end up hungry still.
google avatar

Nancy L.

Yelp
Came here about 30 minutes before they closed and they still had a line out the door. I ordered the daily special, which was a kalua pork moco. The gravy was delicious, but the kalua pork itself was just a tad too salty for me. The other breakfast bowls all looked very good. Anuennue Cafe is a great local spot for breakfast and the staff are super chill and friendly. If you don't plan on doing anything for the rest of the day, definitely come here for breakfast because the food coma from the food will for sure leave you unproductive lol...
google avatar

Jena F.

Yelp
Tasty breakfast! Arrived a couple minutes before 8 and we were just a few people from the start of the line. Split the Anuenue Benedict, a side of French toast with the lemon curd and berry coulis, and Portuguese sausage. Also enjoyed a lilikoi iced tea. The Benedict was my favorite. I was a little apprehensive about the cheese sauce and only bacon bits for the meat, but it exceeded my expectations! Quick and kind service!
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Yum, this place was delicious! The line was kinda long but don't give up, it moves quickly and the food comes out fast. I had the biscuit with egg, cheddar cheese sauce and bacon. I also sampled the French toast. Everything was tasty!
google avatar

Andrea P.

Yelp
Delicious. Quality food at a reasonable price. Thick sliced bacon. French toast with a coconut pudding, just enough to add flavor. Seating is limited but we like being outside under the trees. Avocado toast came more as a sandwich, ciabatta like bread. But very tasty. Delicious iced tea.
google avatar

Selena B.

Yelp
Surfer bowl was amazing. Definitely would recommend. Service was great considering how long the line was. They had been very friendly and very quick once order was placed.
google avatar

Marc L.

Yelp
Oh man this place was good. Little place inside a small shopping mall. One long table next to the restaurant. One table further down. Wound up sharing the table with another family. There are benches to sit on too, if you can't get a seat at the table. Service was quick. My wife said her over medium egg was cooked perfectly. Had a taste of her french toast, it was really good. My shark omelette was loaded. Came with a pineapple wedge and overnight oats. Overnight oats were very tasty.
google avatar

Mike L.

Yelp
Such a nice locally owned eatery. Service and food given and made with care. We came on a Monday at 11am and were greeted warmly and had our order taken quickly. Ordered the tow in French toast, the riptide, and avo toast sandwich. Not a lot of seating, but we nabbed the only table next to the shop. Food came out eventually and we were like happy fishes flopping around. Everything tasted delicious and we were stuffed. Definitely recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area.
google avatar

David R.

Yelp
Foods great! Seat yourself with limited seating in to go boxes but tastes amazing. Little local owned shop
google avatar

Susan M.

Yelp
Went here for breakfast, got the Kalua pork omelette, so filling and a reasonable price. Service was friendly and pretty quick. Not much seating inside, but there a couple of picnic type tables nearby, or you can take your good to go. Overall a decent breakfast place in Poipu
google avatar

Jean H.

Yelp
Solid breakfast spot that we have been to a handful of times. The last two times we have waited in very long lines 30-45 minutes. The food is good but with the long lines it would be nice if they had table service like they used to. It's pretty tricky to cut french toast and pancakes while balancing the containers and Trying to cut with the plastic fork and knife. They used to have a tables under the big tress out front which we lived. The workers are very friendly!
google avatar

Derek D.

Yelp
A solid find. Awesome food at a decent price. We got the tail slide breakfast and it was delicious. The line can get long (for good reason) but the pump out orders quickly. The staff was super nice and the strip mall had plenty of little shops. Coming back for sure.

John N.

Yelp
Simple and not fancy ambience, but the food is worth a visit and the people are very nice!
google avatar

Stephanie R.

Yelp
This place is really good, everything in my bowl was prepared fresh, and the ingredients were fresh. My only two issues are $16 for a breakfast bowl, at a walk up window, order at the register, place, and how slow it is. I think $16 is a lot even at a full service place. If it was full service you could sit and enjoy any number of other items while you're waiting on your food. But...anyway...on to the review. All of that being said, to to pros, the meal would easily feed me three times, since I'm a fairly light eater. Portions were generous, for a single serving, but not a lot of the protein ingredients, more veggies and rice, which I prefer, lighter, and super fresh. I loved that the bowl was creative, lots of flavors, colors, and was very tasty. I would order it again, but would have trouble making it a regular thing, and I'm sure the price will affect the tips your staff are getting. Just food for thought. I didn't have anything else, but what I did see, looked great.
