I went here yesterday for the first time, it felt nice to be able to walk into an actual store and have such a nice variety of products.

I’ve been shopping with them for over a decade now and this was my 1st time ordering online. VERY disappointed in the experience and lack of proper customer service. I placed an order 2 weeks ago and never got an order confirmation email and I never got a shipping email but I was charged. I just reached out today to get an update on the order and I politely asked if my tracking number could be emailed to me and I was told I could write it down…as someone who has their own customers, it takes ABSOLUTELY nothing to spend about a minute copying and pasting a single tracking number and emailing it to a customer. As a courtesy and professional gesture considering I’ve haven’t received ANY communication regarding this order other than an item was sold out and needed to be replaced. Love the quality of their oils but I am weary to spend hundreds of dollars on online orders that I can’t even get a record of email communication for.

What a wonderful experience my family had at this store! I have never been there before (I was visiting from rural PA). This is a great business run by two young men who Yelpers state are brothers. They are very patient and will allow you to smell oils/fragrances and make suggestions on what you prefer. Their products are quality and consistent. I specifically comment for a henna that beats Lush's henna bars. We will keep returning as long as they are here.

Me & my family been going Since they have first open shop... I recommend plenty ppl everyday to shop with them..Grandpa as I've adopted him We to enjoy the family and their knowledge on all the products they carry.. Grandson is a comedy at best ...The environment from the moment you step in the shop is very pleasant still till this day... Let me tell you this.. you will NEVER turn back to cologne or Perfume. My brother in law introduced me to this place. He mixes his oils(something I'm sure they don't do much) but it's the best! I always stick with my usual!(GS imported) it's pricier but worth it! That time this last it's amazing! Also buy the shay butter to rub in your hands with the oil to put it on your body so it can last longer! Go in, don't be afraid. Smell them all if you have to! You won't regret it!!

I visited this shop for the first time yesterday to pick up a few new natural items to cleanse my skin . As soon as I entered the door I was greeted very sweetly by a man who was standing behind the counter. He asked if I needed any help and after I declined he left me to explore . This shop is so amazing because it's full of just about any natural products you can think of . Not only does this shop have natural black soap, incense and amazing smelling oils. They also sell other name brand products like Jane Carter and Shea moisture's which can be found in the back of the store . While I was wandering through the store another employees approached me to see if I needed help . Once again I declined but I was so thrilled that the people who worked in the shop were so happy and willing to help me . I ended up only purchasing a jar of Shea butter and some black soap , but I will be returning when my supply is low . I love the ambiance in this shop . Most of all I love the people/employees .

I've been coming here for some time now but never took the time to write up a review of this amazing gem of an establishment. The four walls of Anwaar are covered in the finest natural health and beauty products. The two brothers who own the business are warm, friendly and make you feel like you're their most important customer from the moment you walk in. My absolute favorite item, well one of is their shea butter. I don't know how they've managed to get the butter to a consistency that is so soft, rich and creamy. It practically melts into your skin like a dream. The fragrance oils are top quality and some are very unique to Anwaar. I get so many compliments anytime I wear their oils. If you are ever on Atlantic Ave, downtown Brooklyn, please stop in. I promise you won't regret it.

They have a crazy selection, they are patient and friendly, they help you select what is best for you, they allow you to smell whatever you want, however many times you want. They also carry different types of all natural products such as soaps, lotions, butters, toothpastes e.t.c.

Call me a hippie. Call me a tree hugger. Yes, I have been known to wear patchouli oil to recenter myself... My friend was looking for tea tree oil and we stumbled on this place after wandering around on Atlantic Avenue for a bit. This place is an oil mecca. I really, really like this store. They carry all kind of oils including tea tree, lavendar, eucalyptus, nag champa, peppermint, etc. You name the oil, and they have it. They also different cleansers, shampoos, soaps, incense, deodorants (my friend is obsessed with them and brought 3 different kinds), lotions, masks, etc. They also sell prayer mats, if you are looking for one. I ended up buying a small bottle ($3) of nag champa oil, a bigger small bottle ($5) of eucalyptus oil and an all-natural facial cleanser ($8). Wally, the store clerk, was extremely nice and patient with us. I even spilled some clay mud on the floor and he was so nice about it and helped me get it off of my jacket. This was a wonderful experience and I will definitely be going back to get more toiletry items. Oh, and they carry a fragrance called, "Obama." So hurry in and get your Obama eau de toilet, just in time for 2012 elections!

Best place for my Shea Butter and essential oils. The owners are brothers are and are very nice guys. The store is well organized and great location on Atlantic Avenue. My lady and I go there go to re-up on toothpaste, shea butter, natural soaps, and essential oils. Sometimes we get something new, but they have a variety of options to choose from which is too vast for me to write here....just go visit them and see what you like. Enjoy

There are a lot of incense and oil shops in this area but NONE of them compare to Anwaar. First, their expertise in both domestic and imported oil is unparalleled. If you come in with an oil that has no label on it, they can usually find out what oil it is 9 out of 10 times. Once they get an idea of what type of oil you like then they give you suggestions on other types of oils within that family you might be interested in and 9 times out of 10 they are on point. I don't really get my incense from them but they have an assortment of products that puts the other shops to shame. All of their signature Anwaar products are made with essential oils. They have toothpaste, deodorant, spices, etc. What separates them from all the other shops is their attention to your needs and their expertise. Both Brothers and the women that are there know their stuff. They are not just behind the counter to take your money and swipe your credit/debit card. I HIGHLY recommend this business and once you try them out you will be referring your family and friends to them as well.

A nice little gem located located in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. A friend introduced me to this store; which sales all natural and organic products. They offer a large selection of body oils, essential oils, organic shea & coco butters, coconut oil, incense, shampoo & conditioners, Apple Cider Vinegar and so much more. The owner and staff are very friendly, patient, and very knowledgeable about each products they sale. The brothers asked questions about the type of scents I normally wear, based off my answers they recommended a few oils for me to try on. Nubian Musk being one of them, it smells so good and has a nice soft scent. I've been receiving a lot of compliments. I also purchased a few others scents. The prices are very affordable and incomparable, without breaking your pockets I will definitely being visiting again, to purchase a few hair care products and soaps.

This is my favorite little piece of heaven in Brooklyn. They offer a variety of quality products, and the customer service is outstanding. One of the most thorough organic products store I've been to yet. Walé assisted me and my husband with our body oils selection and I must say they are amazing and long lasting. As soon as we run low we will be restocking. He also suggested the clay deodorant and it works wonders.

Love this wonderful EMPORIUM. I say emporium because this is a clean, fragrant shop with great, easy going customer service; encourages leisurely client look arounds. I was looking for an oil purchased at a street fair; luckily the Lady who makes the oil also has it sold here. A friendly, informed and helpful man{ did not get his name...sorry.."Morning Man."} over the phone he named each product he had from the vendor. I came in next day, perused the shop, bought products. I come here all the time to buy my Shea Butter. Makeh is very welcoming and personable.

Stop spending money on high end perfumes and start wearing oils. They smell great and last long. I went in to get some golden sand and tried on some other scents. After leaving, I returned 3 minutes later after letting the smells of the other oils really sink in and seeing how awesome they smelled when mixed with my scent. I had to get those scents also. The owners of this shop are really sweet and helpful. Check this shop out!

LOVE this place!!! The owner and his wife are very pleasant and friendly from the moment you enter the store. If you like or want/need natural products for your hair, skin, etc (lotions, oils, soaps, shea butter, apple cider vinegar, etc) THIS is the place to go. The prices are reasonable and there's no way you'll leave with just one item. I usually get my african shea butter and jojoba natural hair oil from here. Also, how can i forget the dr. bronner's soap and fragrant oils. I proudly spend my money here and support this black owned business.

The oils are great and generally the products are fine, but if you will happen to discover that the product they sold you either expired or just bad quality, they are neither exchanging nor accepting the returns claiming their Non-return Policy! It seems like they have no clue that such policy doesn't apply to the spoiled products. If you will try to insist you the sales person will be extremely rude with you! Big disappointment in the store I used for years...;(

I've been going to this store for almost seven years specifically for face wash. Sure, it's just a normal black soap face wash that I could probably buy on Amazon but I love going to this store and supporting this family. The owners are always so kind and helpful. I honestly don't think I've visited the store without receiving a welcoming smile from someone.

I can't say enough about how friendly, genuine and nice the man was that helped me. I don't know his name--but he couldn't have been more helpful or nice. He literally spent almost an hour with me taking down each bottle of oil and allowing me to smell it. Super knowledgable and one of the friendliest people I've ever met. I'll definitely be back.

I've been to the store in person and I've ordered online. Customer service is awesome, whoever was working that day (I don't remember who) was super friendly and very helpful in helping me choose scents. BTW: Their essential oils are amazing, I had been trying to find good lavender oil for ages. Also, their shipping was incredibly fast! Usually smaller stores like this one take forever and a day to mail orders out, but I ordered over the weekend and had my package by Tuesday. Can't wait to go back and try some more of their oils/products.

I can't believe I just went in to this store for the first time. I've been trying to use more natural products and specifically products not tested on animals. I've been buying products on amazon but thought I would finally check out this store today. I was extremely impressed with their selection and customer service. It's incredible to know the integrity of those running the stores you shop!!! I have been getting an imported, scented body oil here since 1999. It is my "signature" scent and people have always commented on how good I smell, even strangers in a crowded, stinky subway car. When I moved from NYC to the west coast, I began ordering by phone. Now they have online ordering, which I just did for the first time. After ordering, and paying for shipping, I got a call from Anwaar. I was told that the weight estimate was incorrect, and I had overpaid for shipping. He said they could include in my order a 1oz bottle of something else. I asked about my oil. He said the difference was 1/3 ounce for that oil. I asked if he could just add that into my order. He said no because that would be cheating me because my bottle was already full but that he would add a 1/2 ounce bottle into my package. AMAZING service.

The men who own the store are very friendly and helpful. They recommended the golden sand essential oil since I like sweet scented perfumes and have sensitive skin. It smells so good!

Great place to pick up all of your natural body care needs. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the owner in a friendly manner and asked if I needed any help with what I was looking for. They saw me looking at the hand and body lotions and gave me some to sample. I bought their Black Seed lotion and Milk & Honey whipped Shea butter for 8 bucks a piece, as well as a 1lb bag of Rhassoul clay for 8 bucks. Great products! The Milk & Honey butter smells divine, and makes my skin super soft & silky, plus a little goes a LONG way. They also have a pretty selection of scented oils. I tried one on the back of my hand (forgot the name but it smelled AMAZING) and it lasted ALL day & night- even after washing my hands multiple times throughout the day and taking a shower. Will be back again as soon as my supplies run out! Highly recommend.

This is absolute heaven for girls who love natural cosmetics. I kind of have this theory that I was an Amazonian apothecary in one of my past lives. Why? I don't know. Maybe because it gives me a great excuse to make scrubs, facial masques, and moisturizers from scratch. To do these things, I need a variety of oils and cosmetic jars. Although they were out of what I really needed for my latest creation (Sweet Almong Oil), I was able to find Jojoba, Vitamin E, Peppermint, Tea Tree, and Aloe Vera Oils for my supply. Pure 100% shea butter (choose the non-turmeric variety) only set me back $5. The stuff you get at L'Occitane is only 10% Shea Butter and costs 6-7 times as much. It makes fabulous hand creme. You'll need to go elsewhere for Bentonite powder and the like- no clay here. Additionally, they carry a large selection of Castle soaps and Dead Sea mineral scrubs for those who want to use paraben and sodium laurate sulfeth-free products, but don't have the time to handmake. P.P.S.: Even the most expensive brands (like Chanel and Creme de la Mer) still have these not-great-for-you ingredients. Try Carol's Daughter (sold at Sephora) if you're searching for more natural stuff.

I am so happy that this extremely successful, authentic, black owned business is staking their claim in the industry by providing quality and holistic products to our community. Baba Makeh Wally and Sistah Sirreh were incredibly patient and kind as they welcomed my partner and I to their store. It was late in the evening and even such, they spent well over an hour allowing us to sample all the oils until I found my perfect scent! This establishment is obviously well known and beloved in the community for as we shopped many regulars came in, started up conversations with my partner and I and even suggested oils for me to mix. I was so happy to see that they Carry Moringa products, which is a family owned business of a dear friend. The prices are incomparable and the overall experience is priceless. Thank you to our Gambian family at Anwaar for keeping our traditions and services alive and well for all.
