Ao Nam Mao Beach

Ao Nam Mao Beach is a convenient area near Railay pier, with many restaurants, bars, massage shops, and small places to shop along the main street. It’s a nice spot to grab a cold beer on a hot day. The sunset can be beautiful, and many people come here for an evening walk. However, it can get quite crowded, especially at sunset time. I went the first night to enjoy the view, but the second night I chose a quieter spot nearby for a more peaceful sunset. Overall, a good place to stop by, especially for the convenience and atmosphere.

The beach is very nice and long, but very touristic. I personally preferred spending the night in Krabi town and coming to Ao Nam during day, or for the night market. You have everything you need in Ao Nam: Restaurants, Shops, Clubs, Food, Hotels & the beach. You can see very nice sunsets and from Ao Nam you can also take boat tours, especially to the close Raily beach. I loved being in Ao Nam, you will meet a lot of nice other travelers there. I only give 4 stars because for me it was too crowded.

Easy to get the boat 100 each Person.Walking to the boat close and not walk though the water . This place the boat will drop you close to the back side of Railay.

It’s a nice place to spend some time enjoying nature, especially during sunrise or sunset. However, it’s not the best beach if you’re expecting swimming or a lively atmosphere. Overall, Ao Nam Mao Beach is good for a short visit or a peaceful walk, but if you’re looking for clearer water, better facilities, and more things to do, Ao Nang or Railay would be a better choice.

The beach is quite small, but not quite as busy. You have a view of some mountains, which is basically nice, but it lacks a bit of the flair of other beaches. There are a few restaurants and bars on the beach, so you can certainly spend a day here. It's definitely worth a visit for a sundowner, even if you can't see the sun dipping into the sea because of the mountains

It’s a great place to chill, take a swim, or just watch the sunset—absolutely magical. Plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops are nearby, so it’s super convenient. It can get a bit crowded during peak hours, but the energy is still relaxed and friendly.

Ao Nam Mao Beach is one of Krabi’s quiet gems, perfect if you want a peaceful escape from the busy crowds of Ao Nang. The beach stretches along calm turquoise water, framed by mangroves and limestone cliffs in the distance. It’s not a typical swimming beach because the tide goes out far and the sand is mixed with shells, but the atmosphere is amazing if you like nature and tranquility. When I visited, there were only a few locals walking their dogs and a couple of fishermen preparing their boats. The sound of the waves was soft, and the whole place had a relaxed, almost hidden vibe. You can walk all the way toward the pier, where longtail boats leave for Railay — it’s a nice spot to take photos, especially at sunset. There are a few small cafés and local restaurants along the road offering great Thai food with sea views at fair prices. It feels very authentic and not commercialized. I really enjoyed spending an afternoon here, just sitting under the trees, watching the tide slowly come in. If you’re in Krabi and want to unwind somewhere quiet and natural, Ao Nam Mao Beach is absolutely worth a visit — peaceful, scenic, and very local.

It is a muddy beach, free though. Along the beach, there are many hotels and bars. You can use their chairs and buy some drinks or you can also decide to lay simply on the sand. The beaches as written is muddy. I decided not to swim, it makes the body dirty. I walked along the beach though.
