I had a very bad experience with this hotel. They asked for a €100 cash deposit at check-in, which I paid. When I checked out, they returned the deposit in cash.
Today I was shocked to find out that one of the €50 bills they gave me was fake. I only found out when I tried to use it and the shop called the police. It was a very stressful situation and completely unacceptable.
This experience made me lose trust in this hotel. Be very careful if they ask for a cash deposit.
New update
Hi Montse,
Let’s be clear — I didn’t use the cash right away. It stayed with me for a few days, and when I finally checked, one of the bills was fake. And honestly, I don’t care about proving anything to you — I’m a billion percent sure I got that money from your reception.
Fake money coming from hotels in Spain is nothing new — same as theft and car break-ins. So don’t pretend this is something shocking or unheard of.
What’s really frustrating is how quick you are to deny any responsibility.
