Aparthotel am Zwinger provides clean, tidy and fairly basic accommodation in a location which is easily accessible from the airport and around a 15-minute walk from most of the attractions of Dresden’s old town.||||The accommodation, in a couple of converted town houses, is clean and functional, with a no-frills feel. The first three floors of our building were served by an elevator but the final leg of the climb to our attic apartment was via a winding staircase only. If you find stairs difficult then be sure to ask for an apartment on a lower floor.||||The amenities in the apartment were clean and tidy. Our ‘double’ bed was, in fact, two fairly uncomfortable single beds bolted together, which was hardly ideal but manageable for a couple of nights. The kitchenette was simple but sufficient for breakfast and maybe light meals. Alternatively, breakfast is available in the restaurant downstairs at a reasonable price (á la carte in the week and a buffet at weekends).||||The check-in experience was efficient and the receptionist was very helpful. We had a couple of minor issues during our stay and these were attended to promptly and professionally. On checkout, there was space to leave our luggage whilst we took one last look around the town before catching a late flight.||||If you’re planning to explore the old town of Dresden then the hotel is fairly well-situated. The Zwinger Palace is around 10 minutes away on foot and, from there, you can continue into the centre of the old town for all of the popular historical sights. If you would rather take public transport, there is a tram stop just a short walk from the hotel and the city's tram network is extensive enough to take you practically anywhere central with minimum effort.||||If you're flying into Dresden then getting to Aparthotel am Zwinger couldn't be easier. The nearest station to the hotel - it's just across the street - is Dresden Mitte, which is a direct 20-minute journey from the airport. If you’re arriving by car, there is secure covered parking nearby.||||Aparthotel am Zwinger is a good choice for a short stay if you’re visiting Dresden's old town. Don’t expect luxury but you can be confident of good service and clean, practical accommodation.
