Good food. You have a lot for your money. You’re not going to leave this restaurant being hungry. A lot of noise when the place is full. When seated in the non smoking area, you can still smell the cigarettes. That’s too bad.

Google
We loved this place! As a visitor we were looking for somewhere to try apple wine and this restaurant did not disappoint. Their food was also delicious, especially the Frankfurt green sauce.

Google
Love the place! Good value for money, delicious Sauerkraut and always a nice atmosphere 👌 (Apfelwein is a good but gives you some trouble the next day if you'd drink too much 😅)

I have visited this restaurant couple of times some years ago and I was really impressed by the quality of the food and I decided to visit again. It is really one of the best places for german traditional cuisine in Frankfurt. Beautiful interior but also there is garden in spring and summer. Located close to u Bahn and in a beautiful neighbourhood. Big menu huge portions friendly staff. High quality and I can only recommend this place. Loved the schnitzel. As for the soup we tasted (pumpkin soup) tasted bit strange and to be honest I wouldn't order again. But apart from that the food is great. Credit cards are accepted and reservations ahead are a must

Google
Huge servings with large schnitzels and quick and friendly service. Definitely didn’t need to eat again after some time with this meal. Enjoyed the atmosphere inside and plenty of beers (and apfelwein) to be had for a typical Frankfurter experience. Give it a try!

Delicious, friendly service, great atmosphere!

If you are not european person, you should check your bill especially „the service fee“. 10% tip was without noticing included. We felt racism and were really disappointed.

Google
It’s a very good place to try real traditional Frankfurt food, we try the grilled pork and Frankfurt sausage, the best part was the desert the warm chocolate lava cake soooooo delicious:) if you can make a reservation as sometimes it can be full ✨

Yelp
Apfelwein Solzer is an apple wine institution located at the top of the Bornheim neighborhood in Frankfurt. Unlike most of the restaurants in this hipster neighborhood, Solzer offers traditional German fare, and we started with Handkäs' mit Musik, a chewy, mochi-like cheese dressed with vinegar and onions and served with a slice of farmer's bread. One of their signature entrees was "Solzer's Krüstchenschnitzel," a breaded pork fillet served over a slice of grilled farmer's bread, topped with a fried egg and bacon, and served with green sauce (sour cream and herbs), horseradish, and a refreshing salad (lettuce, tomato, carrots, red onion, peppers, pumpkin seeds) on the side. This was a nicely balanced plate, and the different components came together nicely from the savory, crispy schnitzel to the herbaceous, creamy green sauce and the acidic, refreshing salad. Everything of course went nicely with their apple wine, and the service was friendly and attentive too!

Yelp
We chose to spend our last night in Germany at Apfelwein Solzer. Walking inside, its everything you'd expect from a German pub. The patio was open and it really gave the restaurant a nice indoor/outdoor feel. When we first sat down, beers were ordered. As Americans, we're used to ordering a pint. What I noticed, Apfelwein Solzer as well as other pubs are serving very large beers, 1.5 or even 2 pint glasses? Am I complaining? Hello no! For my meal I ordered the Hunters Cutlet with Frankfurt sauce. The sauce is the towns local specialty, it tasted herbaceous, very flavorful and unexpected. The place was packed, we had a great meal and was glad we took the Uber from our hotel. The Uber ride back with the driver doing 200 KPH is another story.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere. I wish I had made a reservation to stay longer to enjoy not only the great food but the ambiance and the people. I would definitely revisit it.

Yelp
Great local pub atmosphere. Was here on a Saturday during a football (soccer) game. Being only a single, they squeezed me in. Service was great and food was as well. Will definitely return next time I'm in Frankfurt. The Schweinhaxe with sauerkraut and potatoes is not to be missed!

Yelp
Great local food in vintage location, perfect for large groups with some private room options

Yelp
Great place! They have a smoking and non smoking section, which is nice. The potato salad is amazing definitely try it! I grew up on German Potato Salad because my grandmother was from Frankfurt and it was nice to know that we have been making it exactly right the entire time. I had the fried sheep cheese it was delicious! I also had the Apple Wijn (diluted) which was cool to try. It's quite sour so if you don't enjoy sour beers or vinegars definitely won't be your cup of tea. A bread vendor walked around and sold bread to go which was cool, I had a pretzel :D and it was delicious!

Yelp
Hands down my favorite German restaurant in Frankfurt. I've eaten here many times and the quality is consistent. They serve typical German food such as Schnitzel, Knödel, Grünen Soßen, Schweinshaxe and of course Apfelwein. It is decorated in typical German Biergarten style and has lots of space for large groups. The service is prompt and most of the time very friendly. We have had some of the best service in Germany here. The food itself is delicious and priced very fair. The portions are large and the Apfelwein comes in traditional Bembels. Highly recommend the Schnitzel with green sauce as that is traditional Hessisches essen! I also am a huge fan of the pork knuckle! They also offer weekly specials. If you're looking for traditional, high quality German cuisine then come here.

Yelp
We walked 30 minutes in the cold to try this place. I loved it. Staff was very nice. Were able to find someone that spoke English and they had an English menu. We tried the Schnitzel with fried potatoes and green sauce. I'd definitely go again. Great atmosphere. Glad yelp led me here.

Yelp
My kind of place. Simple, friendly, cheap, good atmosphere with football on the television. What to order: - Apfelwein (that's kind of what they do here) with sparkling water. You get a carafe of the apple wine and a bottle of water as a mixer. - Schweinehaxen. Just trust me. But avoid if you eat kosher or halal. - Schlachtplatte. A big gumbo of various Teutonic pieces of meat, such as blood sausage accompanied by Sauerkraut and potatoes. Note that there is smoking in the central area with the wooden benches and the TV's. It's technically outside.

Yelp
I am really not into applewine pubs, but this might be one of the best in Frankfurt. Service: Friendly and fast. They know how to treat a customer. And they really have a speed, which never let your glass be empty. Food: If you are veggie, this is totally the wrong place for you (but no applewine but will to better). But the really have what you might been looking for: savoury local meat meals for a very good price. Location: It is really centrally in Bornheim. Good to reach and totally clean and "urisch" inside. Toilets have been a lot cleaner then I ever seen them in a pub.

Yelp
Good service Pretty good food though not many options; room was very noisy

Yelp
The Apfelwein Solzer is in my humble opinion is the best place in Frankfurt to get good quality German food. The food is typical of Hessen and never fails to leave you satisfied and full to the brim of porky goodness, with your thirst suitably quenched with a bembel or two of apple wine. The Restaurant has a great atmosphere and always crowded with locals and the occasional tourist. During summer time one is able to enjoy outdoor or indoor seating with a retractable roof incase of rain. The staff have always been friendly and accommodating of customers unlike some other apple wine restaurants in the area, where ordering a beer can have you scoffed at or rudely informed, that if you wish to drink beer there are other places you can eat (despite the face that Apple wine is definitely not everyones cup of tea/wine). I highly suggest booking a table in the solzer on champions league final night especially if a German team is playing ( I've had the great fortune of watching Bayern vs Chelsea here in 2012) the atmosphere is amazing and the bembels flowing with multiple tv and a big screen its easy to view the game from almost all tables. However, I advice booking as far in advance for the final as possible as it gets crowded to capacity! I'd also suggest this place for any one entertaining guest from abroad or having a company meal. I organized for a friend of mine a table for her company that was exhibiting at the messe, the day after their meal I had an early phone call informing me that the Solzer was a hit and they couldn't believe how good it was. All in all I highly recommend checking out the Apfelwein Solzer when you get a chance, always a good idea to book in advance though as it does get busy.

Yelp
If you're looking for authentic German cuisine check this place out. First off, take public transit or a taxi to get here. It's difficult to find a parking space. I drove around for 30 mins and had to park about 6 blocks away. Second, make a reservation. I walked in without a reservation and almost didn't get seated after driving around for 30 mins to try and find parking. If you don't speak German, go to their website and view the menu and food descriptions in English. Everything I ate and drank was delicious! Had apfelwein to drink. Started my dinner with the homemade bone marrow soup with dumplings. For my entree I had the Solzer's Platter. I don't have any complaints about the food whatsoever. If I didn't know better I would have thought my German grandmother was working in the kitchen. Generous portions and very tasty! Definitely all home made and made with love of German cuisine.

Yelp
Very good Apple wine from a historic restaurant and producer of traditional Apfelwein. Would recommend to anyone visiting.

Yelp
I ate there with my in-laws on a Saturday night. The food was outside, to me in Frankfurt it doesn't get better than this if you want real traditional Germany food.

Yelp
Classic Apple Wine tavern in Bornheim You can't go wrong here. Everything you want from a classic Ebbelwoikneipe. Food is hearty, robust German fare in large portions at fair prices. Handkäse for EUR2.90. Heartily recommened for any visitor to the city who want to take in the Äppler experience.

Yelp
Very nice and dynamic atmosphere and good food. Not particularly for the gourmets, but more to discover or enjoy tasty German and local specialities, a place to go with friends and family to share a nice time.

Yelp
Seriously, the best place for authentic German food. Grab your friends and family and head over for some traditional apfelwein and schnitzels with frankfurter green sauce. Trust me, you will not be disappointed! Yes, it does get super busy and packed so I would recommend reservations in advance but it it worth the wait if you do end up just stopping in! Menu has various entrees to offer and they are all very delicious. Apfelwein and beers are also on the menu! Try it and you won't be disappointed:) The staff is nice and they also take cards yay! Most of these places only take cash so this is a plus. Will be back here more often!

Yelp
Hands down my favorite location for Frankfurter style wiener schnitzel and green sauce. Incredible. I've taken all my colleagues and friends to this wonderful beer garden during my two separate longterm business stays. I would dare to say the said platter is better than any other locations I've visited even during my two years living and traveling in and around Bavaria.

Yelp
The food (and apfelwein) is phenomenal. The service, not so much. The server seemed genuinely annoyed that we had chosen to bother him enough to order food and drinks. Perhaps it was due to us speaking English to each other at our table in private, but we all addressed him in perfect German on the rare occasional that he actually approached the table. He acted nothing short of aggravated every time we finished our drinks and wanted another round. That aside, the food was outstanding. I've tried my fair share of jäger schnitzel in my time in Germany, and this was my far my favorite. The apfelwein is very cheap, and thus will have you drinking glass after glass! The stuff is delicious. I only wish I could frequent this place a bit more often to see if the service would eventually improve.

Yelp
Went there with work colleagues. I am not expert on Apfelwein, but the locals with us were very pleased. With a little sparkling water, it was terrific. The beer selection was pretty good also. As for the dinner, some had the schweinhaxen and really liked it. Please come with an appetite as it was huge. And it was so crispy. Others had the Schnitzel with local mushroom gravy. I really enjoyed mine, but one colleague said it was just ok. And we had the chocolate cake for dessert, small, but very rich and delicious. The place was packed on a Tuesday night, so get reservations or there early. And they did have a pretty decent size outside seating, but the whole place is open. When I am back in Frankfurt, will be stopping by here again. And they do take credit cards, which is not always the case at the Apfelwein restaurants int he area.

Yelp
This is the place that I take my Chinese and Taiwanese colleagues for authentic German food!

Yelp
HUGE portions and our server was kind and gracious in describing the menu. I enjoyed the Apfelwein and was impressed with my schniztel in mushroom sauce. Go with an appetite--an 11 euro entree included a green salad, potatoes, and schnitzel the size of a salad plate.

Yelp
Supper Atmosphere und gute Bedienung. Man muss nicht ewig auf das Essen warten. Gute Karte mit hervorragenden Frankfurter Spezialitaeten. Die Gruene Sosse ist sehr zu empfehlen!!!

Yelp
This spot is great. They serve a lot of Apfelwein but they also have a pretty lengthy menu, although I didn't order any food. I went to Solzer at the behest of my host; he's of the opinion that it's a great place and I have to agree. Here you'll find a traditional style "Biergarten", even though its's really an Ebbelwoigarten. They have the standard selection of beers (Pils and Hefe), but it's really the atmosphere that makes this place magic. The night I went, they were showing the Wales-Belgium Euro 2016 game and despite being in Germany, the people were really feeling the match. The outdoor seating is tight and intimate, though not romantic. There are lots of tables and benches ostensibly in the open, but they are actually covered, some by roofing, others with the possibility of a retractable cover. There is a massive tree in the middle of the space, as well. The Apfelwein/Ebbelwoi/Apple-wine isn't what most Americans think of when they think of Germans in an outdoor seating space, but the curious and open-minded visiter should try it, the not so curious should stick to the Pils.

Yelp
If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. My wife too me here for my first time last year, and I'm a foodie and when I had schnitzels all over Duetcheland I had a pretty good understanding of what should be a properly done dish. This place blows everyone out of the water. The atmosphere is fantastic old time feel, packed with people as any good restaurant should be, and excellent service as I recall. Most importantly, the food. Not only is the price fantastic(10-12€ a dish), it's the salad and there dressing they choose to compliment the beast of a schnitzel they serve you. Thing dangles over the side of the plate. My wife doesn't even eat pork, and typically passes on it if it's on the dinner table at someone's house, but here, I need to use my utensils as weapons to keep her awY from my matching dish! -as we both get the same thing. Compliments to Anika for slam dunking the restaurant choice, the particular dish, and the salad mound it comes with and the green sauce......ohhhhh mannn......the saaauuuuccceeee is without a doubt out of this world. I give 3 thumbs up for this place, and the best German food I have had in the many times I have been to Deutschland
