I don’t read German so, it’s a little tricky when you get there because there are a couple of other restaurants sharing the same outdoor seating space. Remember to look for Dauth -Schneider. It’s the yellow sign board . Middle restaurant. Nice German ladies serving there. The food is very authentic German. I can say the best of all the ones I tried. The portion is rather big. Great for sharing to try everything.

Google
A very German experience! First time tasting applewine (a sour apple cider, you top it up with sparkling water), and the famous "green sauce". Both were very much to my taste! A great combination of meat, salad, potato, sauerkraut, in a typical beer hall setting.

Google
We were looking for an authentic German restaurant in Frankfurt, and we certainly found it here. Our waitress (blonde, I wish I knew her name!) was so accommodating in making recommendations and helping to translate. She recommended the green sauce for our Schnitzel, and it was fantastic. Paired with the Apfelwein, I am still dreaming of this meal. Incredibly affordable, huge portions, made fresh with great outdoor ambiance. 10/10 would recommend!

Google
Great food, great service, good value. Authentic and lively. Get your green sauce and apfelwein here and fulfil your Frankfurt commitments!

Google
Amazing! If you are looking for a very approachable and authentic experience of eating true German food, this is the place to go. I can especially recommend the dishes with „Frankfurter Grüne-Soße“. This dish actually originated from the neighboring city part called „Oberrad“. A perfect opportunity to experience Frankfurt as a native, tourist or with a business event.

Google
Looooved this place. After a very long flight this was the perfect way to spend a rainy few hours having lunch. The staff were so knowledgeable and wonderful to chat to. I had the Frankfurter schnitzel, local Pilsner, local apfelwein and was recommended the local mespil drink and they were all fantastic. The staff recommendations were absolutely en pointe and this has been the highlight of our trip to Frankfurt. I WILL be back 🙂

Google
Thank you to the lady who serve. She gave good recommendation and checked whether I can take sour taste and even offer me a taster for cider. The potato is phenomenal. The pork is great with the green sauce.

Google
What a wonderful meal. We were lucky to get seated as most of the tables were saved for reservations. The apple wine (cider) is on the tart side, but that's how I like it. But for me the star of the show is the Frankfurt green sauce. Sour cream and seven herbs and OMG you should eat it oh everything.

Yelp
I was seated immediately upon arrival. Large restaurant with authentic German ambiance. I ordered apple wine ( how to dine in Frankfurt without a glass of apple wine?), Frankfurt sausage, green sauce, and green salad. All were tasty. The service was timely and friendly. I enjoyed my visit.

Yelp
My friend who I was visiting brought me here for lunch as he said that it was his favorite German restaurant. The restaurant has several large dining rooms including one with skylights but it wasn't open during our visit. The main dining room is cozy with large tables & bench seating. My usual default is Jaegerschnitzel & it was yummy here. It comes with spaetzle (German pasta) & was two large pieces of breaded & fried meat with a creamy mushroom sauce. My friend had steak & potatoes & enjoyed his dish. I had Apfel wein (apple wine) & my dining partner had a Pilsner. They accept credit cards.

Yelp
We tried to get a table but it was full although we arrived around 19:00. We managed to get in on the following day. It was very crowded and very loud. All the tables are very long. Mostly for large groups. The service was quite slow. The typical german food was average. If you are looking for a romantic, intimate dinner, this is not the place.

Yelp
Typical old style German restaurant. I had the pork cordon bleu which is pork stuffed with cheese and ham. It is then breaded and fried. It comes with Bratkartofel and a large side salad. Way too much food but all very good. Service was quick and efficient. Sat outside under large trees that provided some relief from the heat. The beer on tap was a pils that was delicious.

Yelp
Great schnitzel, overseen by a monkey on a pillar. I've never dined beneath a pillar monkey overlord, but I found it pleasantly comforting. The recommended green sauce (suggested by the highly capable waiter, not the elevated primate) was a great addition, and a Frankfurt specialty, I'm told. Thank you for that. And thank you sky chimp, for creating the conditions for an enjoyable meal.

Yelp
Having a great time. Waitress helped me order traditional food. Don't miss the green sauce. It's the bomb. Very fun and local. Lots of tourists because Rick Steve's pit them in his book. I came because my hotel recommended it. Prices moderate, beers excellent and wine list is good. Had the special baby pork with potatoes and cabbage. All I can say is GO HERE AND EAT!!! Keeping prices los by serving small amounts of meat. 4 - 6 ounces of meat. But tons of everything else.

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended to us by a bar owner in Frankfurt. They apparently had the best Apple Wine, a famous specialty for Frankfurt. I'm not entirely sure if it's supposed to be more wine or cider like, but it tastes a bit like flat cider, and less sweet too so I wasn't all that impressed. We got the shared appetizer with the Frankfurt specialities, onion with some strong head cheese = super delicious and STRONG just how I like my food! Some other sort of spreadable cheese, I think? It wasn't that memorable. Finally, the famous green sauce (herb sauce with upwards of 8 herbs) with boiled eggs. Not bad. Not super flavourful, but I don't really know if German food is supposed to be all that flavourful. I got the Leberwurst (liver sausage) and Blutwurst (blood sausage) meal with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. You can't really find this in restaurants in North America so I decided to grab the opportunity as a half Swiss girl. Everything was "okay". I was pretty full from the shared appetizer plate earlier but the sausages weren't that hot, the mashed potatoes didn't taste that fresh, and everything was a little bland. However, my friends got the schnitzel with green sauce (the one I mentioned earlier) and potatoes. This I could recommend. The green sauce gave a nice kick to the standard Schnitzel! For temperature of food, it was like warm. What should you order? I'm just giving into fried foods, but get the Schnitzel with green sauce as this was definitely better than my meal. Try the apple wine but go in with limited expectations. Try the shared appetizer plate. Skip the blood and liver sausages. Atmosphere is alright. Spacious. I can imagine this place being packed on the weekend but it was pretty quiet on a Monday night. Nice waitress.

Yelp
This was by far one of our most memorable and delicious lunches we had during the duration of our trip to Germany while we hunted for German cuisine. We happened upon this place on a Friday afternoon after 2PM, and we were able to walk right in. We did in fact notice that the tables were already reserved for the evening hours with large groups from 5 to 15 people per long table! We were thrilled we opted for lunch, or else we most likely wouldn't of had the opportunity to eat here. We started first with some apfelwein, of course, because when you're in Frankfurt, you drink cold apfelwein. That was absolutely perfection, and served with a smile. The atmosphere was a wooden beer garden vibe, and the long wooden tables were accompanied with long wooden benches to sit on. The napkins, utensils, and coasters are all on the table ready for use. We ordered two different schnitzels - my hubby got the one in a mushroom brown sauce smothered over it, while I got the purely fried platter with amazing french fries. The veal cutlet was super thin and flavorful. The mustard paired with it perfectly. This was exactly what we wanted and totally hit the spot. Our waiter was totally nice and asked us where we were from and how we liked German food thus far, and then proceeded to talk about Lufthansa vs. Singapore Airlines. Really friendly and chatty! Loved this overall vibe, and would love to maybe see how much this place comes to life at night, but if you're starving, this is THE place to get the most bang out of your Euro for lunch! We skipped dinner that night because we were so full!

Yelp
Food was good. Location was good. Bigger portions than we expected. They accept credit cards. Seemed family friendly... BUT. Service was awful. We tried to be understanding and patient, but no matter whether we spoke German or English, the staff was unresponsive. You know it's bad when a table seated after you is able to leave before you. They completely ignored us until they absolutely couldn't anymore, and we had to work to flag someone down every time, from getting menus to getting the check. It kind of felt like they were playing a game of "keep away from the Americans." We almost walked out, we were so peeved. We will not return.

Yelp
Classic spot in Frankfurt to try some local food and drink apple wine (apfelwein). We had a party of 5 and got promptly seated in a cold winter night. We tried a few of the staples like schnitzel and sauerkraut, as well as frankfurter sausages. Everything was tasty. The apple wine is tart, but according to locals, you can mix it with Fanta to make it more enjoyable. Overall, a great experience in Frankfurt.

Yelp
Great authentic food!! The waitress Svetlana (sorry if I misspelled your name) was the nicest person I've met in Germany. The portion size is great and the drinks (try Medlar) was delicious.

Yelp
Favorite place for turkey schnitzel and sauerkraut. They also have traditional Frankfurt dishes!

Yelp
I loved this place!!! The garden is really nice, so it can get very crowded. I tried Handkäsen mit Musik for the first time here, and I have to say that I am not a fan. I don't really like onions on my cheese. The cheese by itself was good, strong but good. The Schnitzel with the green sauce was really good. The green sauce with anything was good. Service was a little slow, but the place is so nice that the wait is worth it.

Yelp
Really fun German pub, traditional style from what my coworker who brought me there said. Very much enjoyed the time there. The seating is bench style so you end up sitting very close to and get to know the folks around you. I can't pronounce what I had but it was good. A huge cut of meat (see picture) with potatoes. And did I mention the beer was also great!

Yelp
Had a great experience with 4 other friends. Was visiting Frankfurt for the first time in about 15 years and excited about having some delicious food. Many of us ordered the Wienerschnitzel (veal) with mushroom sauce (special request) and enjoyed every bite! Great service, beers, and apfelwein. Will go back when I visit Frankfurt again.

Yelp
Obey the force...Dauth-Schneider. One of the famous Apfelweinkneippe's in Frankfurt's Sachsenhausen neighborhoods, Dauth-Schneider has the advantage of offering a very full menu of options. I am new to Grüne Soße but my German host was very pleased with the D-S version. The Ocsenbruste mit Grüne Soße was excellent. Kids were also ecstatic about the schnitzel choices. Service was accommodating and friendly (as well as multi-lingual). Beer list is also extensive and delicious. Not sure what else one can expect from an Apfelweinkneippe that D-S didn't offer. It can get very full on weekends, so reservations are suggested. They also have very nice outdoor seating, but rain prevented us from taking advantage of this feature.

Yelp
The service was super great. The lady help me to choose my menu, very patient and the food was amazing. The portion is just right, the price is super cheap! 4 thumbs up from me.

Yelp
We had a lovely time drinking Apfel wein out under the trees on a beautiful summer evening. The taste of the apple wine has a bit to be desired: had a distinct green olive taste. I guess I'm too much of a wine snob to like it. But we drank it anyway and had fun. If you are a group, order it by the pitcher and mix it with some sparkling mineral water. The region is known for an herb green sauce (Grüne Soße) that is really good. And the sauce at Dauth-Schneider is excellent. I recommend getting a dish with it. Don't think Mexican green sauce. It is creamy, mild and delicious. Great time, good food and decent service! For you wine lovers, just don't expect the Apple Wine to be sophisticated! And expect the trees to be shedding a little something.

Yelp
This was a quaint little place that our friends took us to when we were visiting. It was authentic and full of locals, which is always a good sign. The Schnitzel plates were gigantic -!I split one and it was more than enough food. We tried an appetizer with traditional Frankfurt green sauce (kind of like a spinach or dill dip for pumpernickel bread back home) and it was delicious!!I suggest you try it since it's a local specialty for the city. The tables were communal and long, and you must ask for the bill because they will not bring it to you. They do not rush you at all - so you have to be proactive when you want to leave. The food was excellent, the ambiance warm, and I definitely recommend this place. They also have English versions of the menu to help with tourists, which was a big plus for me!

Yelp
A really great authentic German restaurant to enjoy some schnitzels with green sauce and apfelwein or a beer. Love coming here during the summer because it has a lovely and large beer garden where you can enjoy yourself. Prices are good, food is tasty, and so are the beers!

Yelp
A great place to go while in Frankfurt. We had the time of our lives. Great German Beer and German food. An amazing atmosphere! We had to go back taking our clients with us! Super cute Irish waitress who knew exactly what she was doing!

Yelp
We turned to Dauth Schneider after learning that our original goal was not open yet. Lucky break. Not only is the place so big that our group had a section to ourselves but the service was just right. They were timely to take our drink order and food order and turnaround was surprisingly quick. I had the bratwursts with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes (Kartoffelpuree is goes by in the apple wine pubs) and the sausages were really flavorful. With a small 'Eppelwoi' and a sparkling water and tip I still only paid €15. We were busy with a committee meeting so we didn't sit around praising the food but no one complained either and the plates were emptied. One of us had breaded fish, another cordon bleu and the fourth tarte flambee with ham and champignons. The waitress was efficient, friendly and not bothersome. This place has a great reputation among people I know and now I know why. Solid food (not a good choice for vegans or vegetarians), good apple wine and good service for an easily affordable price. I'll be back.
