I stayed at the Apollo Hotel for a business trip and can confirm it ticks the important boxes, which were a functional room, the right amenities, most importantly, a bed that didn’t feel like medieval punishment furniture. The rooms are exactly as advertised, and I had a comfortable and peaceful stay (yes, actually peaceful in Amsterdam, which deserves bonus points).
The hotel also boasts a bar, lounge, and restaurant, all perfectly adequate. While adequate may not sound thrilling, when you’ve been in back-to-back meetings and tired of talking, “adequate” is exactly the kind of no-drama vibe you want from food and drinks.
Now, about the staff. Let’s just say if “warmth” was on the amenities list, it got left behind somewhere between check-in and checkout. I couldn’t quite tell if it was Dutch cultural efficiency or just a quirk of this hotel, but asking for something , direction or clarification was akin to it seemed, requesting a kidney. Not rude, just… as though I was a surprise guest at their hotel.
That said, the Apollo did deliver where it mattered, comfort, functionality, and a stress-free base to get work done. If you can bring your own sunshine (or coffee), it’s a solid choice.
