Apoyo Lagoon

Beautiful clean crystal clear lake. Definitely suggest getting a day pass somewhere to enjoy hour of jumping in the water

A beautiful lagoon, which even has some parts of public property where I was able to camp for the night. People were very kind around here too, and there are many places that offer the food needed while staying the night

We day-tripped here for a few hours and spent the afternoon, swimming and kayaking around the lagoon. The water felt clear and cool after a very hot ride to get there. Laguna de Apoyo is a crater lake that was formed by a volcanic explosion 23,000 years ago. It’s the largest lagoon of volcanic origin in Nicaragua and is heated by natural springs and thermal vents. Feels like one of the most unique swimming holes in the world - definitely a must!

I instantly fell in love with this place! If you’re looking for an amazing getaway from the city noise then look no further because Laguna de Apoyo is the place to be! The waters are warm and calm and there is many place to visit along the shore to enjoy some great food and atmosphere!

Wonderful place. Clear water in the winter months, little bit more murky and green in the summer months. Still wonderful though. A stunning amount of cool wildlife around.

Lovely place! You can enjoy of beauty of nature at its fullest. Could be with your beloved ones or friends. Nice weather, a bit cold sometimes. Lagoon is surrounded by trees. There are bars and restaurants you can visit to enjoy our gastronomy.

A very special place. Views from the top are amazing as you peer down into the crater lake. Drive to the bottom for lunch and refreshing swim in the beautiful clear waters.
