Google
Cozy spot, breakfast burrito is fantastic, got with chorizo but I'd bet all the other meats are just as good. Well packed and huge too, definitely worth saving the other half for later or sharing with a friend. The place is also kinda a convenience store with candies and chips and drinks to pick up which is cool.

I’m randomly walking downtown and discover this little place to eat. I’m trying to broaden my horizons then I immediately get reminded why I stopped eating out. I’ve been here twice. The first time, service grade A. I ordered the cobb salad and the chili. My salad seemed decent. A tad stingy with the avocado, but other than that everything seemed in order. It even appeared that the lettuce was washed. Everyone claims to do it then you smash a seasoning and see blood come out. I ordered an extra dressing and the worker was nice enough to give it to me. Especially seeing my first trip cost me roughly $26 for a salad and a 2 oz bowl of chili. So I decided to go today. I ordered the same thing. I asked for an extra dressing and the guy charged me a $1. So I asked him do you have to pay for those? He said yes so I asked him to remove the charge. He went ahead and gave me the dressing . Then he proceeds to tell me that his business is cut because people are working from home. So I guess that is why they have such high prices for the people who do not work there. I got my salad back to my desk to find the lettuce was wilted and there were bugs in my salad. If I had the time I would have taken it back. So I wasted $18 today, for a salad that skimped avocado with a sprinkle of bugs. I am likely not going to return. That place is pricy too.

I’m in town for less than a week. Staying at a nearby hotel, I wanted to find something within walking distance. We went here as I couldn’t find anything else close by that was open. The place is clean and conveniently located. They have plenty of outdoor seating. I got the acia bowl and my husband got the big breakfast burrito. I didn’t really like my bowl, but I was in a hurry and didn’t have time to change my order. There were a lot of chunks of ice in it- it wasn’t smooth. The granola tasted weird, like chemicals. My husband loved his breakfast burrito. Ate all of it. So, I give them 4 stars. Maybe I should have ordered something else. There are a lot of other places to try, so I probably wouldn’t go back. But for $23 for two breakfasts, a bottled water, and an OJ, it’s not a bad deal.

Google
Best breakfast burrito in downtown that's not in a hotel. I ordered mine without meat and cheese for dietary restrictions and it was still amazing! I’m only in town for a week on business, it was a short walk from where I was staying.

Google
Wait times are long even when there isn’t much or any people waiting. The food is only, okay. It is extremely over priced in my opinion. You’re much better off grabbing something from the nearby Starbucks instead.

Google
Caveat I work in the building: I enjoy the food from this cafe, its always super fresh and is made very quickly. Their Steak Bleau Cheese Sandwich, Lasagna and Breakfast Burrito are worth the trip beyond the convenience. Its a little pricey but it is in a fancy high rise downtown so price has to pay the rent. Workers are also very helpful and have been here for years. Recommend!

Geo W.

Google
Love the French dip and Avocado club and crispy fries. Reasonably priced as well.

Google
It's reliable, but over priced and the woman is extremely unfriendly.

Yelp
Wow!!! I was getting a passport in this building and stumbled upon this restaurant. The food is incredible. The best beet salad I've ever had!! Service was amazing. I will be back in until then I will be craving the yummy food!
google avatar

Melissa T.

Yelp
Everyone working was very nice and polite! They have lots of fresh grab and go items as well as hot food. The breakfast burrito with bacon was good. Scrambled eggs, cheese, bacon, and potato on a grilled tortilla. The red sauce has great flavor.
google avatar

Jacob N.

Yelp
This place has a "grab and go" vibe. $16 for a croissant and drip coffee. Not many other options around so if you are in a pinch for breakfast this gets the job done.

Yelp
The exact same sandwich, the Pacifica, went from penthouse to outhouse in less than a year. Once a 5-star sandwich it torpedoed to a 1-star. What happened? I'll tell you what happened. The sandwich Becky received this time was the evil twin of the beautifully crafted sandwich she received the first time. It was all wrong this time. The French roll was dry. The ratio of ingredients, so perfect last time was all off. Not enough turkey or Provolone. The avocado was old and mushy. The veggies were not fresh. The aioli was non-existent. The sandwich construction was sloppy and haphazard. In a word: terrible. C'mon Appetite, you're better than this.

Yelp
I was leaving the passport agency and was hungry I stopped at this shop to grab a bite not expecting anything special the Cuban sandwich I had was CRAZY GOOD and the seating in dinning area is nice I'd def make a stop here even if I had no buisness to handle at Columbia building Thank you

Lori T.

Yelp
We ordered coffee and a bagel. They were out of coffee. The bagel cost $6.45 and was one of the worst bagels ever.

Yelp
This spot doesn't get a enough credit. Their breakfast and lunch items are all delicious especially their soups. The employees are kind, professional and helpful when you have questions in regards to the menu and recommendations. The food comes out quickly and is handles with care. Definitely recommend this spot!

Yelp
I love this place! It's my go to every Wednesday!! The restaurant itself is very esthetically pleasing and clean. The staff is very nice and welcoming. The menu has lots of varieties of food. My go to is the Tikka Masala Chicken, it's to die for! Addictive because it's so tasty!! The service is fast and everything comes out fresh. Thank you for giving such a great option downtown!!

Yelp
On my 1st visit in 2020, I had their signature Appetite cheddar burger cooked medium rare with waffle chips. I rate top 10 burger in San Diego.

Yelp
Hidden deli inside of a professional business building downtown. Thought it was clean and spaced out nicely for the times we are in. I did the Harvest Chicken Salad Sandwich today. Pretty healthy tasting choice. Albeit they do have burgers on the menu I want to try out next time.

Unshackled-N-Empowered S.

Yelp
Appetite is a hidden gem located inside the One Columbia Building. It is family owned and they truly care about the quality of their food and their customers. They offer a great variety of fresh food. The employees are friendly and the owners are hands-on.
google avatar

Mari A.

Yelp
Service is great and the spot is clean. I call in my order and it's ready in minutes. The breakfast sandwich is pretty good.
google avatar

Zuzana V.

Yelp
Food was fresh, place was clean, and service was fast! I would definitely come back here again.

Yelp
Great breakfast burritos. I wish they were open on the weekends. Really good service.
google avatar

Dorian R.

Yelp
Good food and quick service. Staff is great and friendly. Location is nice and offers indoor or outdoor dining.

Kirsten W.

Yelp
Disappointing and overpriced. Sometimes the turkey and chicken tastes old. Quality varies a lot. I got food poisoning once from the French dip. Will do in a pinch.
google avatar

Sabrina C.

Yelp
I have ordered from Appetite weekly over the last couple of years while working across the street. Their breakfast burritos are amazing as well as their breakfast sandwiches and acai bowls. They have great options for lunch as well. I tend to always customize my orders and they have never gotten it wrong. The best part about this place is the friendly employees. Wish I could give more than 5 stars!
google avatar

Yelp
I was "stuck" having to wait all day for my passport but this little gem was a little godsend. They had coffee, breakfast, juice, etc. But I waited until lunch and ordered a Cobb Sandwich. Sounded odd at first but then I saw that they roasted their own Turkey breast in house. It was fantastic! I love fresh roasted turkey on a sandwich! Because of a mixup with my order (the person who took my order must not have understood my request) I didn't get my side of waffle potato fries. They started making them but I hadn't paid for them originally. I told them it was fine and not to worry. But the manager insisted and gave them to me for free. So nice of him! Great food! Great service! Hidden gem!

Yelp
This is the pesto chicken flatbread. Half the dough is chewy and almost uncooked. Chicken is extremely dry and unseasoned. Pesto has this almost bitter taste. This is seriously one of the worse dishes I've have in a while. I can feel the amount of oil they use on my face after taking a bite. Ever since the last manager left the cooks have been horrible. What a waste of money. Go anywhere else but here. Lots of good places in walking distance besides this over priced garbage. Gave them 1 star because the service is good.
google avatar

Eilbra B.

Yelp
Appetite - not so appetizing... I work in the building the café is located and I am a regular here (twice a day sometimes). I will no longer be returning to this place after the bite I took into my sandwich to only find a POP TOP from a can. How did a pop top get in my sandwich?!

Jasper T.

Yelp
This place is incredible. Marty made me the best wrap I have had in a long time, I normally dont get wraps, burt after eating the one he made for me I am going to start trying new things. Incredible service. Incredible food, ask for Marty to make your food and you wont be disappointed.

Yelp
I can't say it enough how delicious and amazing this place is! From the food to the employees! I wish I'd have tried it sooner. Supper affordable and that not something I can easily say for places in downtown SD. I can honestly give a 11/10 because every dish I've tried has over exceeded my expectations.
google avatar

Andrea H.

Yelp
Not unless you're in a rush. It was just average food. We ordered the lasagna and the carrot cake. The best thing about the cake was the frosting and the rest was super dry. The lasagna taste like hospital food. I wish I had better things to say. The place was pretty clean and easy to get to.
google avatar

Yelp
It's always easy to write a great review, or a less than positive review - it's the average reviews which are harder. I work in the building where Appetite is located so it's convent to stop by and grab breakfast or lunch. Also, there food is normally good, with moments of great, and moments of disappointment. Seems the management has made several changes, and the current individuals working the front are good. But, the cooks can take more care - if I request no tomato, please do not add to my sandwich. Please do not use pepper stems as the veggies in my sandwich when I pay 1.35 for a canned soda, it should not have expired 30 days prior (yes I can tell from the taste). Will I be back, yes - they are in the lobby of my building and the food is usually good.

Eva M.

Yelp
This place has it all! You can pick something on the healthy side or something really tasty (that's not so healthy) I've pretty much have ordered most of the items on the menu and you can't go wrong, everything is so tasty. Prices are reasonable and staff are friendly.
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
Their Pacifica sandwich is excellent and I chose to make it a spinach wrap. It was very fresh, filling and came with a dill pickle spear. It's a busy place over the lunch hour as it's downtown and appears to be part of a hotel. Service was great with this being said. My food arrived pretty quick.

Yelp
What happened I ordered the Del Mar delight the muffin was not toasted the mushrooms were raw the cheese was cold it has to be the worst breakfast sandwich I have ever had, I've been eating here when you first started way before it was appetite BUT this is not the first time some thing went wrong with my food , BUT ITS THE LAST TIME I EAT AT YOU DUMP

Kenneth S.

Yelp
I have visited this restaurant twice in a week while downtown San Diego. Great food and nice quiet, hidden location. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Simple tasty food.... Exactly how they describe it.... Excellent food , great prices and realy nice place to seat in ...

Yelp
Best place to eat! The ladies at the front are AMAZING!! They have Starbucks, breakfast and lunch. I will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Ordered the chicken salad sandwich with gluten-free bread, which I was stoked they had. It was the SMALLEST sandwich I've ever seen. It belongs on a child's menu. (At Sprouts, when you order a GF sandwich, they give you TWO, because the bread is so small.) I didn't expect 2 sandwiches, but really - they should give you a side salad or tell you "The sandwich is small, so if you're hungry, you might want to order a side." The sandwich did taste good and the dill pickle spear was good. I should've put a fork next to the sandwich in the photo so show the size - sorry! I liked the ambiance. I went with 2 other people and our food all came out at different times. The man that ordered the RARE hamburger waited the longest - and quite long. It was above average in noise. I will go back because the salads looked really good and seemed less expensive than the deli at One America Plaza.
google avatar

Yelp
I work in this building and they nail the food here. Consistent and well-priced. The people that work here bust their asses--thank you guys!

Erin V.

Yelp
Tried this place since I work in the same building- biggest waste of money. Not sure how you mess up a soup and a sandwich but I quite literally lost my own appetite while dining here. Never again
google avatar

Venessa V.

Yelp
I have been a loyal customer when it was called Pacific Western Deli! With change comes ups and downs and I have patiently waited to write this review because they had almost all new staff, new menu and my favorite employee Rita was gone for awhile. She's back, all the employees seems to better trained and I have had an opportunity to taste more items on the menu. I will admit I was a lil annoyed when my favorite sandwich from the old deli did not make the cut. But I have a new favorite (tx to fellow Yelper/friend Ron B) the Chipotle chicken sandwich on a french roll add Avocado! I have also had in in a whole wheat wrap and it's good too! A MUST ORDER: Roasted Lemon pepper Chicken Soup is soooooo good I want the recipe! The Solana Beach breakfast sandwich is delish and I really liked the chorizo burrito not super greasy like some taco shops. All in all opening a new spot comes with hic-ups and I think they have improved immensely!

Yelp
Can I give this place 10 stars ! Came right smack in the middle of lunchtime rush, food was fantastic and fast, the entire staff was on it! I will defiantly eat here again ! Thanks for a great job!!
google avatar

Melissa D.

Yelp
Working downtown, this a convenient spot for me to grab lunch. I find the food to be fresh and good quality! The salads are large and filling, and the sandwiches are delicious as well. The only complaint is that, depending on what time you go, it may take a while to get your food. If you are able to avoid a peak hour, you will get your food fairly quickly.
google avatar

Belinda Q.

Yelp
This place is great! When I first came here over a year ago, the food wasn't that great and never went back. Thanks to a friend who recently went there decided to share their lunch with me, all I can say is wow!!! They have stepped up there game. The food was great. We split the turkey sandwich and it was tasted great. Went back the next week and ordered the health nut sandwich and it was delicious. The staff and manager are extremely friendly. I've even ordered over the phone and my order is always ready in a timely manner. Definitely a place I will continue going to.
google avatar

Sean F.

Yelp
Staff has no idea what they're doing. You can see the cooks from the counter. Just saw them drop their food twice (within the to go box) and simply fluff it around to fix it.
google avatar

Erica A.

Yelp
Perfect spot for a quick lunch. My husband got the Greek salad with chicken and I got the harvest chicken salad. Their salads are very large and you could totally share!
google avatar

Macy H.

Yelp
Pretty good food! Soups, salads, and sandwiches are great. But why is the Eggs Benedict skillet 2 fried eggs on top of uncooked spinach lol

TARA B.

Yelp
Ordered the jalapeño burger which came with the waffle fries over the phone and it was ready by the time I got there. The burger was fresh and so were the fries. The place is not busy as it used to be but they do offer indoor and outdoor seating and sanitizer for the guests.
google avatar

D. T.

Yelp
Never again! Ordered the flat iron steak entree. This included 2 sides. I asked for 2 servings of Cesar salad. When I got back to my office there was a lot of grease on the salad. Didn't feel good after eating the salad.
google avatar

Jen S.

Yelp
A convenient and standard little cafe for an office complex. Inside 1 Columbia Place Building. Bright indoor seating and outdoor tables. Something close by for a quick bite to eat or coffee/soda as it is in the lobby to the US Passport Agency. Not a lot of flavors in their food, we noticed. My gumbo and French dip sandwich was just okay. Nothing too exciting. A little pricey to some, but average price for this area: small soda, French dip sandwich and cup of soup $13ish. Big selection of salads and ready-to-go sandwiches baked goods, and other food items. Their kitchen stops making salads at 2pm. Noticed customers ordering their available bowls as well and those looked tasty.
google avatar

Claudia C.

Yelp
This is a great place for lunch downtown. It's a affordable version of Tender Greens. I have tried their salads and all have been fresh and delish. They are big enough to share if you have with a smaller appetite. The flat iron steak sandwich with bleu cheese on a fresh baguette is like comfort food, throw in the waffle cut fries and a re-run of Happy Days! Breakfast, coffees and croissants are served also.
google avatar

Michele M.

Yelp
Really pleased with the customer service and the food! We are in the building and Tony and his team delivered right to our door, early! Tony returned after the meeting and picked up the empty carafes. In addition to the outstanding service, ya gotta try the breakfast burrito!!
google avatar

BeeWee W.

Yelp
Honestly, this place has great potential but often they drop the ball when it comes to execution. I have gone to this place multiple times over the course of last few years because I work in the building and the convenience factor is high. But I am done. I went this morning when they were not busy, and I ordered a gourmet croissant. I was sitting inside and waiting for my order. After about 15 minutes, I went to the counter to check on the order (because I have had a situation with them when they forgot about me) and saw there was something waiting on their back counter. When I asked about my order, the girl goes to check the counter, then comes back with what was sitting on the counter and tells me that she could not pronounce my name, was calling it out, and there was no response. I was sitting ten feet from the counter, and I can definitively say, it was not "called out". Maybe she whispered it to herself! In the past, they have also given me a burger with no meat in it (they said the chef thought he put the meat on the burger)! The food is ok but not at all consistent. And overall, just disappointing. Even for convenience, there is a line. I really don't appreciate the lack of service. And I know I am not the only one that feels this way. Several of my colleagues have had similar experiences and prefer to walk to one of the other nearby places over going to Appetite.
google avatar

Anne F.

Yelp
I can't recommend this place. They are locared in the lobby of the building where i work. And unfortunately, theres almost no other food options around, especially for people who take a 30 minute lunch. Ive been there probably 15 to twenty times in the last year or so, and this place really doesn't make any effort ... and why would they when they have very little competition in close proximity. They dont need to hold themselves to any standards because they are guaranteed a steady flow of business from the people working in this building. Which is why you will frequently have to deal with cashiers who are rude or have a bad attitude. That is the main reason ive decided to Yelp this place ...
google avatar

Kris G.

Yelp
I went here for the second time today. It is a short walk from my office and my lunch buddy required a Caesar salad so I had to find a spot. This is an order at the counter and take out or you could dine in and they give you a number and will bring your food to you. For in-restaurant dining they serve their salads in metal bowls, sandwiches and platters on actual plates and with real silverware. I opted for take out this time. I chose the French Dip. It is their Flat Iron Steak With Aged Provolone on a baguette Served with Au Jus. (It typically has mushrooms too, but I got it with out.- side note, the woman who took my order and rung me up knew enough to ask me if I was allergic or just didn't want them! Nice touch.) My sandwich was delicious. Bread choice fit perfectly, the steak was flavorful and moist, and the cheese (although I typically like more) added a great accent to the flavors. I wish their was more meat and cheese in it, but I think it was good enough. I will be back for this sandwich. My buddy also really enjoyed the Caesar salad.

Yelp
I eat here pretty often as a I work close by the building. The appearance inside this place has a very clean/retro look which I love. I feel like I have tried so much on their menu and have never been disappointed! Ranging from salads, sandwiches, panini's, burger etc! The staff has always been very friendly when I come in here and actually go out of their way to serve your food if you are eating there (: This particular visit I ordered the Eggs Benedict for breakfast and this dish was amazing to say the least. I had to take a picture so here it is! Thank you Appetite Staff!
