This is by far one of the best hostels in the United States. Located in Old City on charming Bank Street, the location is perfect for area attractions. There are two separate buildings and both are great. The main hostel where reception is located has a full service kitchen, tables to sit at, a piano, pool table, and guitar. Guests are friendly here and you can meet some awesome people. The staff here is super. They make you feel welcome and at home. My eighteen bed bunk room was real relaxing, there was hardly anyone there during my three night stay and for those that were, we all were cordial and quiet during sleeping hours. In the evenings around 8:30 p.m. guests can enjoy complimentary beer and cocktails. The owner of Apple Hostel earns my respect for running an awesome and exceptional hostel. Philadelphia is a fantastic city to explore and with affordable rates, the Apple Hostel is the perfect place to stay when visiting the City of Brotherly Love.

Was in the area for the film festival and didn’t feel like driving 2 hours away. Was looking for low cost hotels and seen nothing affordable. Came across this hotel. The reviews were good and it was literally one block from the festival. Decided to book through Expedia and got to the place at 10pm. Upon walking up to the check in. Everything was explained and I was given a towel and sheets. The common area was spacious with a variety of people socializing. The room I got was 2 bunk beds. The bed was comfortable. Was in the room with a gold mentalist who was competing the next day. Met some good people there. The showers were decent with enough privacy. The bathroom was with a little stench but there were many females staying on the floor. Overall, for this being my first hostel stay I enjoyed myself and would certainly use this place again if I come to old city.

Fine for what it is- not luxury by any means. Major con: no elevators and 4 floors. If you’re traveling with heavy bags I would not stay here period. Also I find it a bit disingenuous they advertise laundry with “free detergent”- it’s 6 bucks to do a load, which is quite expensive. I’m not certain if they wash the comforters or their covers between guests which is just kinda gross. Pros: Clean. Beds are pretty comfortable. Two refrigerators including one with a small freezer. I’ve stayed in hostels where the shower room is badly ventilated and steamy in a gross way and this is NOT that. Friendly staff. Good location, walk north a couple blocks to get to the nice part of the old town. Vending machines in kitchen. Luggage storage. Smaller cons: the rooms can get a little stuffy at night. It’s a hostel so bring earplugs and an eye mask. The noise from the street comes through pretty well during the day, but it’s quiet at night. I think the rooms could do with small fans to help with the temperature.

I was in town for the PAX convention. I had never been to the city before a d I had never stayed in a hostel before. The location is absolutely fantastic to explore many areas without touching a vehicle. Everywhere was always very clean and attention to detail on behalf of the staff was evident. I do want to especially give a shout out to Zach who worked the overnight on 11/22/25. I got back at almost midnight and there was a situation in my room. As i advised him of it the situation escalated. Zach handled the situation efficiently and with grace. His doing so is greatly appreciated. I will stay with yall again!

I have nothing but good things to say about this place. I live in a small town and do not have a lot of money. It is nice to have a place to lay low at night affordably. I really love this city. The rooms are clean, the staff is amazing, and you could not ask for a better location. Everything you could ever want to do in Philly is right within walking distance. What they offer here is an amazing service. Being able to escape the small town blues without breaking my bank has been a god send. It has helped with my depression greatly. I would volunteer here if it allowed me to even stay a couple of more days a year lol. Thanks for everything you do, I and surely others greatly appreciate what you have created.

Stayed at this hostel with a friend for my first time in Philly, it was a great experience. It was clean, staff were very friendly and it was super close to all the hot spots in Philly. The lounge area is a great place to hangout for a break or chill at night before bed. Lots of games to play. They have a full kitchen if you wanna make your own food.

as a person that frequents hostels, I can’t recommend this place enough! very clean. very accommodating. you can hang in the lounge and work remotely before your check in, or the staff is happy to hold your bags while you explore the city. location is very close to many tourist sites such as Independence Mall. showers and toilets are not only modern but clean! I would definitely rank this as a top 3 hostel (we love the pool table and shared instruments!) kitchen is cleaned daily and there’s plenty of room for cooking. the staff is also very friendly and accommodating (shout out to my fav, Preston! he was very kind and accommodating. also very friendly to a chatty solo traveler like myself. he made me feel very welcome!) if you’re traveling solo or otherwise and enjoy communal living — this is your Philly spot!

We enjoyed our stay here and really loved Philadelphia. The best thing that made such a difference was the location- it was really easy to get to and from the station and the historic sights are very close nearby. We weren't staying in the city that long so it really made a difference.||The only reason I wouldn't give five stars is because of the noise- although there are rules about making too much noise in the rooms and this didn't seem an issue, the loud radio from the toilets and particularly loud hostel guests outside in the street (thankfully just one night) was a bit less than optimal. Aside from that, highly recommended.
