I could when we pulled up that this was the place for a meal. Customers were lined up out the door, so get there early if you want a "seat" inside. They do have plenty of overflow outside. The food was worth the wait. Its also a cool place to shop, and much better parking than in Gatlinburg.

Such good food and large portions. The Grilled Chicken sandwich is my personal favorite. Condiments from a cows utter was a whimsical surprise. Great to shop and browse and the coffee selections are delightful!

This place was amazing! Staff was wonderful, everyone was so kind and very helpful with my gluten allergy! They have gluten free bread for their breakfast sandwiches! If you are a light breakfast eater this is the place for you. My husband got pancakes and country ham. He said it was the best pancakes and country ham he has had in a long time. Highly recommend!

This is a great place to come for friendly service and delicious food. All of the staff we encountered were very sweet, though they did have to hold the line for quite a while to allow the kitchen to catch up. The food we received was worth the wait though!! And what was even more worth the visit was Caroline! I’ve never seen a condiment cow before but I don’t want to get my condiments any other way 🥹 10/10 experience here and would absolutely come back the next time we’re in the area.

Cute cafe with a service counter. Staff was friendly, service was quick despite us being there during the lunch rush. Some patrons were letting their kids run wild, and a server had to catch a toddler before she fell out of a highchair since the parents weren't paying attention. The dining area was hot and stuffy, AC was not strong enough. The food was very greasy. I got the famous fish sandwich that is breaded in potato chips. The fish filet was nothing special, thin white fish- not cod or anything. And the potato chip crust just held extra grease. My husband got the grilled chicken sandwich, which was dry but somehow also greasy. Pricing on both was rather high considering neither sides nor drinks come with the entree. The sidewinder fries (thick curly-cut potatoes) were decent and fresh. I also got the fried apple hand pie. The filling was good, crust was flaky, but it was literally dripping grease from my hands after being sopped up with napkins and soaking the paper bag it came in. We're glad we stopped to experience it, but likely won't be back. 2 sandwiches, 2 fountain drinks, one large sidewinder fry, and a hand pie was $43, with a military discount.

My boyfriend and I visited while on vacation to Townsend. Beautiful location, friendly staff, delicious food. I had the Chicken salad sandwich and a fried apple pie. Its dog friendly. We will definitely be back.

We discovered Apple Valley Cafe when we saw a billboard. The first day we had great sliders. Then we returned during breakfast time. I had the BEST pancakes EVER! (But get there before 11 am for the breakfast menu.) Highly recommended!

I have visited here before and I have always had good food and good service. Today, I did the "Build Your Own Burger" option. I got a double with pepper jack cheese, bacon and all the fixings. The burger and fries came out quick (considering the lady in front of us had a $200+ order) and hot. This was a terrific burger. From the funny signs to going to the condiment cow, this has a quaint, country vibe with really good food. Escape the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg madness and go Townsend and enjoy the Apple Valley Cafe and the surrounding shops.

I always feel that if you have something in the menu then you should be able and ready to prepare it. If you can't there should be a sign somewhere saying that. I'm from out of town and picked this place because the menu said they have milkshakes. When I tried to order said milkshake, I was told that they couldn't because there were only two people working. I personally counted six people, two in the front counter space and four in the back cooking area. I can make a milkshake at home by myself. Other than that the food was good and they do have a very unique condiment dispenser where you have to squeeze the cows udder to get your condiment.

Peanut and Cashew loved their visit to the Apple Valley Cafe in Townsend today! The staff was so friendly and gave them water and pup cups, turned on the heaters so they'd be warm, and shared their own stories and photos of their pets at home! 5 separate employees came out to say hi to them. A+ celebrity treatment. Also the food was fantastic! Their humans had the chicken salad salad and the chili bowl which were both delicious. Everyone was really friendly and helpful.

The little group of shops is nice and the atmosphere in the restaurant is homey, and the service was very friendly and fast. However the biggest disappointment was the food unfortunately. We got a burger, chicken salad sandwiches and Mac and cheese. The burger was borderline inedible with a funky flavor, the chicken salad was bland and the Mac and cheese was just ok. They have so much opportunity but the cooking needs done serious improvement.

Solid breakfast stop, especially for a high volume tourist area. You order at the counter, chose your seat, and meals are then delivered. The dining area is nothing fancy but it's comfortable. If you want to linger over your coffee, no one rushes you to leave. Food choices are standard, pushing pancakes, biscuits, toasters. I had the sourdough toasters with eggs, cheese, sausage for the first time. Better than I thought--eggs were fluffy not dry, sausage actually had a bit of a kick. Would be better with 2 slices of American cheese rather than just one. Good enough to come again. Plenty of parking

5 Stars - A Must-Stop in Townsend! We traveled down to Townsend, TN from Cincinnati, OH with Dazie, our 1954 CHEV 3100 truck, for the Smoky Mountain Nationals 2025 and stumbled upon Apple Valley Mountain Village & Café--and we're so glad we did! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed. The weather was damp and chilly, but the food here brought the warmth we needed. I had the chili and cornbread--spicy, hearty, and just the right kind of comfort food for a mountain day. Our son, whose appetite is the stuff of legend, devoured the Wagyu Beef Burger with a side of twisty fries--both top notch. And let's talk about the highlight: the Apple Pie Pocket. Hot, flavorful, and absolutely unforgettable. We joked we could live off of those all weekend (and we meant it). One of our favorite quirky touches? Caroline the Condiment Cow. Yes, she exists. And yes, she made us smile. This place has character, heart, and great food. It's now officially Dazie Approved. We'll be back!

You walk in and place your order at the counter , they give you a number and bring your order out to you. Drinks and coffee are self serve. Food was ok. The biscuits were nice and fluffy but everything else was about "fast food" quality. Employee was nice and it's very clean. Sausage gravy tasted like nothing but flour. Paid $21.00 for 1 biscuit and gravy, a bacon egg and cheese biscuit and 2 drinks. Prices are high for some things and super low for others. They have a little seating inside and quite a bit of seating outside.

Great experience here! Top notch service with friendly staff. I had to change my daughter's diaper here and there was a changing table for me to use in the bathroom (not at every place unfortunately). The prices were extremely reasonable. Food tasted fresh and not too heavy. Wish it wasn't our last day or else I would be running back for another meal!

Really good little cafe. Our visit was for lunch, and hubby enjoyed a great burger while I enjoyed a yummy chicken salad sandwich. Hubby got sidewinder fries, puffy potato small wedges that are crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. My sandwich was served on grilled sourdough, and it was a large sandwich stuffed full. Complex has a cute general store to browse afterwards and a sporting goods store adjacent. Definitely worth a stop in charming Townsend!

No menu at all,, you have to wait until you get to the register ,, order and pay just like hardees , only the menu is impossible to see. Ordered a Breakfast platter. But was told I could NOT have ham. Settled for bacon, which was too hard to chew, gave it to the dog. The one biscuit I got was HARD as a rock,and the cup of gravy cold. One tiny flat egg was qith this disaster. Husband's breakfast sandwich was too hard to eat as well. All of this ( water to drink)for the unbearable price of $37.00. !!! SHOULD HAVE GONE TO HARDEES !!!!!!

We stopped by this place on the back way to Dollywood and it was super cute! It was nice stop in an otherwise rural area to find a restaurant, store and ice cream shop. I got a sandwich but the star of the show was their curly fries. They were delicious.

They are the winners! When I'm on vacation down here, I treat myself to a sausage and biscuit whenever the mood strikes me which seems to be most every morning lol. I thought it would be fun over the last couple years to evaluate different restaurants sausage and biscuits I thought I was done for this trip in my evaluations but woke up with a craving for a sausage biscuit on my final day. I thought I would revisit Apple Valley Café oh my goodness! I'm so glad I did. I said I guess God wanted me to have a real treat today! It was amazing! The sausage was big nicely spicy and flavorful. The biscuit was buttery and moist, and held together nicely. The café was busy when I went in. I followed in a pretty large group, but it didn't take much time at all. They really can get the food out. They even have order ahead ordering. Coffee was amazing too! Can't wait till my Fall trip!

We ate lunch here the other day. All around I give it a solid 4. The pulled pork was super tender but didn't have much in the way of seasonings. The bbq sauce they had did turn it ignited a really good sandwich but I think it could have been great had some seasonings/rubs been used. Friendly folks. Cute country atmosphere with great gift shops as well.

Only had a salad but it was fresh and plentiful, the fries were perfect, and the apple pie was delicious. Food was prepared quickly and staff was very friendly and inviting. Loved the contraption to dispense ketchup and other sauces - it was set up like udders on a cow where you can squeeze the sauce downward from a tube. It was both funny and functional - lol. I won't add a picture because you should just go and check it out for yourself!

We've always enjoyed our food from here! The condiment cow is a fun addition for first time visits! Apple Valley is such a great little spot in general. I always get the chicken salad and it's the perfect blend of sweet, crunchy, and savory!

You order at the counter with no table service. Drinks, including water, come in single-use plastic cups and water is not free. I visited with two others. We each ordered two pancakes. They were thin, about 4 inches in diameter, cooked in a lot of butter, and tasted like hotel-style premade batter. They were passable but unremarkable. We also ordered a side of sausage gravy. It came in a single-use Styrofoam cup, was watery, and lacked flavor. Total cost for the three of us was between $30 and $40. Ambience: 4 out of 5. The interior was clean and reasonably pleasant. Service: 3 out of 5. Food came out quickly, but there was no waiter and minimal prep involved. Food: 2 out of 5. Edible, but forgettable. Food quality is my top priority, and this was the weakest element by far. This place fits the mold of a tourist-area café. It looks charming with a gift shop and rustic decor, but beneath that surface it comes up short where it matters.

Well we went back to apple valley.. this time for breakfast. The breakfast is a little pricey (especially the sides) for what you get in my opinion. The gravy was good.. I don't think I would go back for the breakfast.. but I love the lunch. Great service and atmosphere

We stopped at the Apple Valley Cafe on our way out of Townsend after spending the day taking n the scenery. Their web-site shows they are open until 7:00; but when we called they said they close at 5:00. It is counter style service with tables to sit at after you order. At 5:00 they close the drink area and put away the sweet tea, so get a refill early. The sandwiches were good and the Smash burger is their specialty with really unique homemade fries. Sandwiches were about $10.00 which is pretty typical nowadays. Follow me on Yelp for more places to eat and things to see and do in Knoxville and East Tennessee.

Shoutout to the people who work here who are friendly and feel like your next door neighbor. Actually they are kind of like my next door neighbors... The menu is pretty simple, but it's good. Had the sammich in the photo: super filling and delicious. They do serve coffee, but nothing that's froo froo. If you want that, go down the road a half mile to Townsend, which I'm leaving a review for next. Also lots of seating and free wifi and places to charge your phone and laptops, for us digital nomads and vanlifers. Townsend is my jam!

This place is food. So if you're hungry, and every other place is too busy, it's something to put in the stomach. But don't be mistaken. There is less passion for service, taste, presentation and cleanliness than at your local Wendy's. Four people ate and the bill was $115 for sandwiches. And don't tip. There is no service. You'll have to get up to get your own condiments from a sticky germ uttered cow (you'll know it when you see it). You'll get your own drinks. And you'll clean your own table. So don't tip. You got nothing for the additional money. This was our one and only time to visit. Even if they moved next door I wouldn't return. I gave it two stars because my girls told me to be nice.

Exceeded expectations. We went on a Sunday morning at 10:00 am, line was quick and service was great. Best biscuits I've ever had.

My wife and I got smash burgers that's were decent. Nothing to take home other than your normal smash burger. Bun was super fresh and delicious however. The fries they advertise were also pretty good. Definitely a good place for a quick lunch bite. Very touristy.

Love the side-winder curly fries with a side of nacho cheese. I get it when I'm in the mood for a smaller lunch.

We came here for breakfast, service was fast and the food was super good. I had the ham and cheese toaster, my kids had the pancakes and my husband a breakfast sandwich. I tried some of kids pancakes and they were SO GOOD. Everyone was super friendly and thoughtful. My baby was getting a little fussy and an employee brought us over some crackers for her while we waited on our food to come out (even though it was a short wait). They had an outdoor seating area that would be perfect in the summer! We will definitely be back next time we are in town.

The restaurant and surroundings were cute!! Stopped in for breakfast on the way to Cades Cove. I was not impressed at all. The food looks nothing like the pictures on the menu. The sausage patty was burnt and tasted like cardboard. The biscuit was dry and the gravy was disgustin. Definitely do not recommend and will not be returning!! This restaurant was a huge disappointmen.

We stopped at Apple Valley Cafe for breakfast. It's a cute spot. You order at the front and they give you a number and they'll bring the food out to you. We ordered the Grand Daddy breakfast sandwich and a bacon, egg and cheese croissant. They didn't come with a side and we both ordered the hashbrown casserole. The grand daddy came with eggs, cheese, ham, bacon and sausage sandwiched between two slices of bread. The bread was super buttery and it was fine. My bacon, egg and cheese croissant wasn't anything special either. You can definitely tell they make it to order though. The hashbrown casseroles were overly cheesy. My first bite was pure cheese and no hashbrown but once you got to the hashbrown part, it was good We got 2 coffees as well and with tip it was $35. Definitely would say it was overpriced but considering the cost of everything in this new times, it's tough. however, Tina was a delight to talk to. The outdoor seating area allows dogs. There's also heaters for the colder days.

We briefly thought about going elsewhere since at the time of this review Apple Valley had a 3.5 star rating. All I can say is that our experience was awesome. The staff was super friendly and very helpful, even bringing me a sample of chicken salad to help me with my question of which is better the chicken salad or the burger. I ended up ordering the burger and my Wife got the grilled pimento ham and cheese. We just ordered a single order of fries and I'm glad we did as there was plenty for two. The burger was awesome, cooked perfect and still super juicy and flavorful. I'm a huge fan of having all the veg off to the side of the burger. 1 it gives crappy veg nowhere to hide, and 2 it keeps fresh veg from getting all sad withering away on a hot piece of meat. All that being said, I have zero complaints for my burger. The fries were probably some of the better fries I have had. They were actually thick enough to be crispy and fluffy at the same time. I'm glad we stopped and next time we are through the area we will be stopping again.

Ok, it is probably not good form to offer a five star rating when you only ate one thing. However, when the wife and I travel we always look to try the local dishes that an area is known for. Tennessee is definitely known for their deep fried hand pies. The funny thing is the menu makes no mention of them, either on the web or in the restaurant. But we walked in for a coffee and spied them, sitting out, just crying to be purchased and eaten right then. We were on our way to Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, which is something that has to be seen to be believed (the town not the theme park) so we grabbed two "to go" and ate them while driving. Hot, succulent, with a crispy, buttery crust and the flavor of pure apple inside. Go in the morning, hunt them down and indulge! Oh yeah - what flavors do you have? Apple - well that is really all you need.

Great restaurant close to Foothills Pkwy on the way to ride the Dragon! Smash burgers are excellent. We stop here every time we are in the area. Decent menu, pretty quick service, friendly staff.

Sept. 3rd, 2024 at approx. 5:35 P.M. eastern time was the last time this establishment will EVER get a dime from me. I paid almost $14 for a chicken tender meal... it was terrible! Chewy, obviously cooked an hour ago and under a heat lamp. Fries COLD, not cool. There was no rush in front of me, they're was no reason too feed me that garbage food. And charge me that much! I'm a local, I have friends visit all the time. There are very few restaurants to choose from in Townsend, I will make certain no one I know or talk to ever spends another dime. You should be ashamed to serve that to people.

This meal was delicious! I thought this would be a sit down restaurant with a wait staff, but it wasn't. You order your meal and they deliver it to you. We came at the right time because there was a looonnggg line after we arrived. I ordered the fish sandwich and it had a nice crispy, potato chip crust! I love a good crunch! My husband didn't a share a bite of his burger with me, so I guess it was good... I was able to sneak some fries and they were yummy! They had a fried apple pie milkshake I wanted to try, but since my husband and I were sharing...I ordered the strawberry shake. It had lots of strawberry chunks which is a big plus! The only problem I had was that my side salad was $4.99 and it was small with packaged dressing.

Com in place order at the counter and grab a seat. Food runners will bring you your order fresh. My chicken salad sandwich was very good but too much bread. The grid potatoes wedges were amazing. Live music this Saturday was a nice way to enjoy my me.

Apple Valley is a cute little cafe easily accessible when driving through Townsend. The food is ok not really worth the price. So it gets a 2.5. The service is good you order at the counter and they bring it out. Cute decor.

A bit pricey, but great food! We had dinner there last night and the staff was so nice and welcoming and the food was fresh and delicious.

Burgers were good. Black bean burger was mushy. Macaroni and cheese was ok but a little too creamy. Fries were excellent. 3 different opinions in our group about coleslaw. One really liked it, one thought too peppery, one thought too vinegary. Very fun condiment cow. Bathroom was out of toilet paper but they responded quickly when informed. The worst thing- they use a lot of styrofoam. Very disappointing choice for the environment.

Thought this place would be packed, maybe everyone sleeping in or hiking. Food portions are really good and fresh. I had the BlackBear BLT sandwich. With had the bowl of Chili, very good servings. Water cups are a great size if yall drinking water. The only disappointment was the coleslaw. I was really looking forward to a nice size portion and flavor..... it just wasn't there for me. 1.99 for coleslaw and a small portion. I say try something else. Everything else was DELICIOUS!!!!! I will definitely be back again for something different.

Large portions, speedy service and tasty offerings sum up Apple Valley Cafe. We stopped here as a group of 11 after a hike in the Smokies and while the line to order food seemed long, I ordered my grilled chicken sandwich with the cashier in less than 5 minutes. I had time to sanitize my hands at the pump outside the restroom, fill a little paper ramekin with ketchup, fill a bigger cup with ice and drink from the soda fountain and sit down at a table on the patio before my food arrived: Speedy Service! Inside the lightly toasted bun sat a large portion of perfectly cooked chicken breast topped with 3 round slices of pickle, a slice of ripe tomato and purple onion and a crisp piece of romaine lettuce: Large Portion & Tasty! The fat sidewinder fries, overgrown and twisted cottage fries, came out hot and crispy. My table mates' orders also arrived quickly. One said his carved turkey sandwich on wheat with a side of dried cranberries tasted delicious. His milkshake also met his expectations. The other ordered one of the hamburger selections, and although he made no comments about the food, his thin burger patty would have been overcooked for me as the edges seemed burned because they were black. (I prefer my burger cooked medium, so I'm glad I didn't order what he did.) The chicken and turkey sandwiches, large order of sidewinders, fountain drink and milkshake totaled $32.32, which is a tiny bit steep for lunch, yet the tasty food and speedy service made my Apple Valley Cafe experience a 4-star eatery.

Mediocre burgers at best. Fries were okay, for some reason I didn't expect them to be frozen fries but now that I look back at a menu it doesn't say hand cut fries anywhere so that was my fault.

Awesome Wagyu Burgers & fantastic service! Definitely recommend. If you are from out of town make sure you put this local cafe' on your radar!

Please stop here! I don't know if this place changed owners or what but the interior and menu are different than what others had previously posted. The food was amazing! It came out fresh and fast. Everyone that worked there treated so nice. Someone came by our table twice to check up on us. We all enjoyed everything we ordered. Our top two favs were the nachos and blt .

We stopped in for the apple pie and took it to go. The place was clean and the service was fast.
