Apples & Pears Cocktail Bar

My husband loves the Brick Lane area of London with all the street art, and so I was on the hunt for a cool venue to celebrate his 50th. Apples and Pears has been the most amazing choice we could have made for not only East London, but all of London! Our friends from all over have not stopped raving about what a cool place this venue is, and I actually can’t wait to have an excuse to host another event there!! 

Kim is the most efficient events person ever to liaise with. A superstar with the drinks order when I wanted to add in bottles of alcohol-free fizz to offer guests, she will make sure you feel welcome, organised and in the best hands. Reggie and the two lovely barmen on the night could not have been more incredible. A lot of friends said they had never felt more looked after at a venue! For our event I hired the Lounge bar on the ground floor, with its high ceilings and an excellent sound system. The day (11th July) had been a boiling hot 30 degrees, which did not matter, as the air-conditioning inside this place is one of the best I've ever come across in a bar on such a hot day! We organised our own DJ and food (samosas, Brick Lane bagels and a graffiti cake!) It is worth asking about lighting and decorations, as they are allowed within guidelines (all of which we were happy with and everything worked out really well) - we brought along our own disco & fairy lights, a few arty decorations/activities (such as sketch pads on the shelves) and we had an artist sketch the party scene, which all added to the East London street art atmosphere I envisioned ! Apples and Pears was THE perfect venue for our event, honestly don’t hesitate to reserve if you are!! Thank you so much to Kim, Reggie and the awesome bar guys for making it a smashing milestone to remember !

We visited here on Halloween evening before making our way to attend the nearby Jack The Ripper Tour. Initially, we were the only guests in the bar (it was still quite early), yet we didn't feel put off, as the venue was warm and atmosphere and staff were friendly - customer service here was 5*, BTW. We ordered our cocktails, grabbed a seat in front of the TV, and unintentionally quickly drank our drinks (they were delicious) as we watched the movie 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' - great choice of film. Following the bartender's recommendation, we ordered two more cocktails before it was time to leave, during which, the venue gradually began to fill up. A highly recommended venue with great customer service and tasty well made cocktails.

I hired the basement of A&P for my birthday party with 30-40 guests. It was a really positive experience - there was good communication from Kim, who helped with organising the event and the drink pre-orders. On the night, Reggie and his team were so helpful, and everything felt easy and relaxed. There were two bartenders, who were very nice and made delicious drinks, in addition to helping keep the space tidy. We appreciated how flexible the team were with the timings for the pre-ordered drink and with playing our own music. I would highly recommend.

Delighted by this gem of a cocktail bar! We devoured a tart Tommy's Margarita and decedent Raspresso Martinis -- a raspberry twist on the classic. Well worth a visit.

I hired the basement for my partners 30th Birthday. We invited 60 and probably around 50 turned up which felt like the perfect amount of people. The setting was intimate, perfect for close friends and family. The venue was so clean, when I went to visit it was always pristine. The staff were friendly and super polite and helpful. They allowed me to decorate the night before, they also offered a personalised drinks menu which I loved! They had a welcome drinks option which I utilised, that also comes off the minimum bar spend. My partner and all our guests enjoyed it so much, thank you!

My fiancé and I had our engagement party here and the venue was absolutely fantastic! From organising beforehand with Kim, to setting up on the night with Reggie, to Paolo and Nathan making cocktails at the private bar for our guests, everything was brilliant. Highly recommend, especially for private parties!

The planning and organising leading up to my birthday party went so smoothly thanks to Kim, she made the whole process easy and stress-free. I had an absolute blast and everything on the night ran perfectly. A huge shoutout to Reggie, Paolo, and Larissa as well. They were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend!

We had a leaving party here as we’re going travelling and we are so glad we chose this venue! Our private area was spacious and perfect for our party, but what really made the night was the staff. Everyone went above and beyond to look after us — special shoutout to Paulo, Louis and Reggie, who were absolute stars from start to finish. Incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure we had an amazing send-off. Couldn’t recommend this place enough — they made our night unforgettable!

This bar has a nice open mic for performers and the outside smoking area is great for smokers and non-smokers alike.

I never even knew that this place existed until I stumbled across if and decided to check it out. It can definitely go onto the hidden gem list. In midweek they have a range of different events on to try and mix things up a bit and it was the songwriters corner when I was there. 4 singer songwriters sitting around talking about their inspirations and processes before treating the audience to some very good entertainment. I'll all for venues doing something a little bit different and this was right up my street. Luckily their cocktails made me want to hang around to listen to the music. After all, that's why we were there. I went for the Hanuman which was a bourbon and rum old fashioned and I would highly recommend it. A good hit of booze but not too harsh that it wasn't an absolute pleasure to drink. Hannah plumped for the Nuclear Colada which was actually a lot tastier than it looked given that it was served with about half a glass of squirty cream on top of the alcohol. Cream fans would probably love it but this one had to be drunk quickly to make sure that the alcohol wasn't tainted! The menu is pretty extensive and they are willing to make you up a classic if that's what you want. I'll definitely be back to sample a few more!

Booooze!! Wandering round this area we passed a couple of pubs before being lured in by the promise of cocktails. It's a nice space, modern funky vibe to it (not quite hipster but on the verge of it) with a cracking menu of cocktails which put a twist on the 'usual' suspects. Kirsty spotted the French 86 and given the list of ingredients - Fords Gin, Lychee, Benedictine, Mint Bitters, Prosecco - I plumped for that too! A few moments later we sat down with two martini style glasses full of light green liquid, rimmed with desiccated coconut (a new experience that one) with some trip hop on the playlist. The drink was pretty good and after a couple of mouthfuls the bar manager wandered over to ask how they were as they were new additions. After a few more mouthfuls we agreed that it could stand a little more sweetness, but that didn't stop both drinks disappearing pretty quickly! Definitely somewhere I'd pop in on the way past again! They do more than just cocktails, beers, wines and spirits and whilst we didn't try it there is food available too. Worth a look.

What a fab place to relax away from the hussle and bussle of Brick Lane. They have a Bamboo Garden at the rear, which will be really great in summer. Our cocktails (Itchachoo Park and Fashion Fizz) were made by Richard, the friendly Venue Manager. My Itchachoo Park one had a good mix of alchol and a fantastic taste of fresh passion fruit, which brought back memories of holidays on the beach. Cocktails are £7.50 mark, and they do pies for £7.95. Friendly staff, and would definitely recommend a visit if you are in Brick Lane or around East London. Wow. Like all the fun bits you remember from being 23 without any of the rubbish bits like sticky floors and crying into your hooch. These guys sure as sherlock know good cocktails, a pina colada with fresh cream and macha - hai kudasai! A dreamy smooth last days of the raj style pineapple beverage - pukka! Added to the great drinks they have great service, a genuinely fun vibe and a superb DJ on Friday night mixing up totally non pretentious best bits of 80s 90s and noughties. Dancing and chatting to the regulars is recommended. See you there soon!

Lovely looking drinks and very nice personal. Would recommend. We were in London for one night and decided to get drinks here. It was a very nice end of m already nice evening and if we get the chance we'll definitely come back.

A cool little ground floor bar - or two small original rooms joined together imaginatively, with a busy weekend basement dancing area and small back patio with occasional BBQs. A relaxed Shoreditch vibe, with easy music to match, although its at the 'wrong' end of the Lane for such cool-ness! You might miss it. And all the better for it. They still do an amazing two wines or two pints for £5 from after work weekdays until 8 or 9 (depending) which makes it a great start to an evening, meeting place for work mates whether the next step is to north Lane art/music place or south Lane curry house!

Good bar/club combo serving tasty cocktails. On weekends they usually have a DJ both upstaits and downstairs and play some great r&b! The punters is a mixed bunch which makes for good. The cocktails are good (come in jars though which is a personal dislike). I'm not a massive fan of Brick Lane on a weekend but this place ain't half bad!

wow, kudos to this place for my first attempt on downing a long drink in one go... i dont know what time the previous reviewer have been to this bar, but i went there just before midnight on a saturday night purely out of curiosity and hell what an experience awaited me. firstly i can't fault the decor and the layout of the place, but then you move on to the 'music' and the 'people.' hmm. well the music is just wrong..you know the stuff that is under the 5£ mark on itunes - that is pure gold compared to what my ears were hearing. the people...hmm i am not a judgmental type and also very tolerant and open-minded too, but with the majority of the 'all day in gym all night on coke' male types supersizedeyeing the 'high heels before bare feet after' female types i felt like i was in a ZOO with the exhibit 1 and the exhibit 2 just released from winter hybernating cage area to a free-run zone... all i wanted to do was to hide in a safari jeep and drive off. don't feed the animals!
