Applewood Restaurant

Stopped for breakfast at Applewood. Nice place with friendly staff. Instead of having the buffet, we decided to place an order even though the buffet looked fresh and well stocked. Hubby had the breakfast special #1, which came with 2 over easy eggs, 2 bacon strips, 2 sausage links, hashbrowns, and a biscuit with gravy on it. He mixed it all together and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the sweet potato ham hash with 2 scrambled eggs and a biscuit. It was very tasty with the combination of the ham, egg, and potatoes. The coffee was nice and hot and very good as well. Our server was very attentive, and we enjoyed talking with her.

It was very good. We would eat there again. We originally planned to eat somewhere else but ended up stopping here because it was in the direction we were headed. We were glad we did. I ordered the breakfast burrito w/ hashbrowns, my dad ordered the chicken fried steak w/ mashed potatoes, and my mom ordered a sirloin w/ baked potato. We had each enjoyed our meals. Service was good.

Good size scrambled eggs and seasoned potatoes $3.26 for breakfast?? And coffee for $1.40 It’s my new best stop now 👍 and serving lady was also very polite 👍

You are missing out if you don't stop here and eat. Everything is literally home cooked. You get exactly what you order and it's really good. The wait staff were amazing.

Fried catfish dinner they said lightly breaded but I feel the breading was a little too thick for me. The fish was very good baked potato green beans very good. Good size portions. I prefer a little less breading

The food was great was wonderful actually picked up brought it home the guy was nice enough to wait last minute it was closing and you could tell he didn't just throw it together he made it still with heart so it's very much appreciated plenty of food I over order cuz I didn't know the serving size. Will definitely be going here again can't wait to dine in and experience the atmosphere

Our meals were absolutely wonderful. Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy and vegetable. Kids' meals of chicken strips and fries were about the best in town! Way to go!

Nice place, good clean atmosphere, and great food. Had a complete omelette today which is highly recommend and before I left they had the Sunday buffet setup so I took pictures of that as well. One of the best Truck Stop Travel Plaza restaurants around. 👍👏😋

So I didn't take any pictures, I was really tired when I walked in here an hour before closing. I walked in, and as soon as the waitress saw me waiting for a table, she acknowledged me and took me to my table. She was really nice and sweet. I was delighted to see that they had fried green tomatoes, I guess with homemade ranch dressing. So I ordered that as an appetizer, and I also ordered chicken 'parmesan' as my main dish. She brought me my drink, and took my order. I sat waiting for my appetizer to come out, but all of my food came at once. She apologized that the cooks cooked my order together. Didn't really matter to me, I know they are getting close to closing. The fried green tomatoes were off the hook! Their ranch dressing was pretty good too. The tomatoes were nice and thick, and just perfect overall. My chicken parmesan, was all chicken, no parmesan. Didn't have any cheese whatsoever, but that's not a big deal to me. The chicken was fried perfect. It was so good, and the pasta is just basic spaghetti. I ordered it with extra sauce, but they didn't give me extra sauce but whatever. The inside is pretty spacious, it has nice decorum, and I guess they have buffets on sunday? I don't expect to ever be in that area again. So I guess I'll never know, but I do recommend if you're hungry, it's a great little spot to eat.

I really wanted to give this place more stars because of the phenomenal wait staff...the ladies we interacted with were so funny and attentive. Very kind. None of my issues were with them, they were great. The interior was a bit dated and there was a slight musty smell when you came in. Not to mention that they share bathrooms with the gas station next door which did NOT smell great at all. They had a very extensive menu...almost too much. I honestly don't remember what my meal was called but it was shaved beef on toast with mashed potatoes and gravy all over everything. The mashed potatoes were definitely dehydrated prior and the best thing about it was the gravy which still wasn't that great. My husband got the cheesesteak and he said it was just ok. Not a horrible experience but not the best. I hope they treat their waitstaff well because that would be the only reason I returned!

Stopped in Hutchison to grab some Fuel and realized an old friend lives nearby, called him up and invited him to lunch with me. We wound up finding this gem and tried it out. Ordered the LARGE chicken fried steak plate and it did not disappoint. Big enough for three meals and probably one of rhe best i ever ate. my friend had the fried chicken sandwich which he said was amazing. Will definitely come back if i am ever here again. Server was extremely nice and went out of her way to be helpful and informative.

Best breakfast ever! I had an omelet and my son had chicken and waffles. Great spot and the service was friendly and fast!

Our waitress was amazing super nice and very efficient. The food was delicious! Will definitely stop in again. The store and gas pumps are under construction. Bathrooms were clean.

Just stopped for a late lunch while traveling to Wichita. Ordered a grilled chicken sandwich which was huge and done just right with juice still inside. Great hot fries too. This is truly the best grilled chicken sandwich I've had in years including ones from Sonic, Chick-fil-A and McDonalds. Service was by a sweet waitress and quiet country music that made my day! So get off the main drag fast food places and support local restaurants.

Great Buffet on Sundays. Price is good for all ya can eat. Friendly Service. Must try.

Food was good Chili was exceptional Grilled cheese was good Beef dip was excellent The issue. We went in at 7:30pm. And apparently it was a huge inconvenience because they close at 8. I was not allowed to take my time to order I was not allowed to order anything else after she took my order. I had wanted their dessert Overall not a great experience.

Ooof...Just about walked out of here after ordering my food...First thing that hit me when I walked in as a foul, rotten, mildew type of smell...I had to ask for clean silverware not once but twice...I got a classic breakfast...Home fries were thrown in the deep frier...Waitress didn't know if the potatoes were cut fresh or frozen...Seemed like a frozen variety to me...Overhard egg had a weird rubbery texture.. .bacon was average at best...I got a glass of water and it was awful..Tasted like chlorinated plastic....This place needs a serious restaurant make-over...The building itself is really cool just everything else about it needs to be overhauled...Guess I'll count my blessings that I didn't end up with diarrhea.

My grandpa loves this restaurant for the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. I love that I you can order off the breakfast menu any time of day. The few times we've eaten here have been before 5pm so it's unclear how popular this restaurant is; however, it's been open for years so they must be doing something right! The dishes I've tried have been good. The water tastes like chlorine.

Had the hot beef sandwich. The beef was dried out. I've had much better elsewhere. Won't be returning.

Great taste and great prices. Cooked to perfection just like I like and absolutely love their hash browns

Decided to come in since was in the area. Much better experience than last time. Both the food and service were great as usual.

We went for breakfast at 1030 and they were getting the buffet out which made the service slow but Well worth the wait . The service people were kind. Very good breakfast.

had a blast! ---my goodness, i had to roll out of the place, --stuffed son ! 1 we laughed at the locals , and each other, commenced with operation ,we stuffed our faces, $under 10 bucks for the main filler, couple more covered what i call , a real serving of q ' extra ' proportions ! the meal didn't necessarily-arily come with much staff interaction as to that like most of us have come accustom to w/ cooperate dining joints... that said, we weren't really expecting anyone to entertain us per se'. i'd eat here again. unless momma is doing the cooking !!!!!!!! 7

The service was horrible. Never going here ever again. It took 30 minutes to get a glass of ice water that tasted like it came from a garden hose.

Pulled pork obviously not made daily... it tasted as if it had been frozen for a while. Service was good and the interior was well designed but I do not recommend the pulled pork plate... the fried steak that boyfriend ordered was good. Very nice in size, potatoes were real not from a box... just feel food should be better and maybe more choices.

Had primerib dinner it was great price primerib was great flavor price was fantastic at 15.99 got salad bar baked potato needed to cook longer great service environment was classy and clean waitresses where friendly and communicated very well with consumers Choices on salad bar was basic and small by freash

Best chicken fried steak I've ever had. Real mashed potatoes and gravy. A lot more than one person can eat. Definitely will be back.

They have the best chicken fried steak in the area. Also have great breakfast. On Monday and Tuesday they have a senior dinner special. We have tried all of the dishes and while they are all good, the chicken fried steak and the fish are awesome. Be patient because they usually are swamped then and on Saturday mornings. Not a place for fast food but worth the wait.

I was very impressed with this cafe. The service was excellent, the staff very courteous. The food was fine, hot and tasty.

Best an biggest Chicken fried steak I have had in years.my wife and I eat and eat well for under twenty dollars. I hope the restaurant can stay in business due to the Love's new truck stop across the highway.

Waitstaff is friendly and usually very attentive. Coffee is hot and good. Our cup never went dry. Chicken fry is as big as your head and yummy. Good variety of food choices and it's nice that that serve breakfast all day
