Really enjoyed breakfast here. I had the Japanese breakfast and a hot drink made from orange juice and ginger - really nice. It was very filling and healthy. I had a taste of the chicken curry and salad too - both were great. The cafe itself is very nice and cozy - somewhere I could come back again and again if I lived here.

So delicious! Everyone should come here! We had an amazing lunch (I had the vegetarian curry) and couldn't resist the dessert. I took the dessert plate with tastes of all the desserts, the special homemade parfait is to die for :D we will come back tomorrow for breakfast!

Really healthy and tastey. Scone was delicious and the ginger amazake was really nice. I had the salad scone set. Always on the look out for some greens in Japan.

GOOD BREAKFAST IN KYOTO Fantastic food and coffee... The organic coffee. Yum! The organic black with a little bit of milk is just great. Also, breakfast salad is lovely. The granola looks so good and I want to try it next time!

Google
Great morning place to start your day! Friendly staff and good atmosphere! Shown here is the Japanese style breakfast, Jam on Toast, Green Smoothie, and 2x latte's! Also, easily accommodated my partners gluten (Komugi) intolerance.

Google
Very good food with attentive staff (English speaking too), was really nice to have a good choice of veggie food and there was plenty of it! The parfait for dessert was amazing so I definitely recommend it!

They have an English menu and the owner can speak English. Had the Good morning curry, it comes with sticky rice and chicken. Was quite delicious would recommend.

Yelp
Small cafe that opens early (important if your jetlag simply will not go away). The vegan options are clearly marked, but were fewer than I had hoped. Aside from the homemade granola, we tried all the vegan offerings: * Scone and muffin: the muffin stole the entire (breakfast) show. warm, delicious crispy top, moist on the inside. We actually ordered a second because we could not share * Japanese breakfast: brown rice, soup, sweet potato, tofu, little pickled vegetables. Good value, tasty * Salad: every single salad in Japan left me wanting more. Gimme my greens! * Coffee: no espresso drinks, but they do cafe au laits. 200 yen off all drinks with breakfast * Cute space with a lot of natural light and rustic looking wood tables * Small detail, but the menus had cool hardbound covers I hope in the future they'll offer all their food as vegan. I could've gone for the toast with jam, which would be very easy to add.

Yelp
Great little spot we stopped in on the way to rent our bikes. We opted for the chicken curry. This savory dish was excellent for getting in some carbs and protein before heading out for a full day of cycling to all the kyoto spots to see. The flavor of the chicken curry was deep and full of subtle spices. I added tons of red pepper though bc I am a mad man! The coffe here was on point and this place was very affordable. If you have a budget on your trip. This place will fill you up without breaking the bank in the process. Plus they have alot of vegetarian options if your into that sort of thing.

Yelp
Really hungry this morning so I walked there but it was closed and said Joy's diner or something like that. This place no longer exists.

Yelp
Cute, English friendly Japanese café. They serve breakfast from 8 to 11 am and lunch from 11 to later in the afternoon. It's nothing fancy or particularly extraordinary but they serve nice Japanese breakfast set with couple of pickles and a miso soup and brown rice for 700 yen. They also serves a bunch of English like breakfast items such as scones and toast & jam. But would recommend the Japanese breakfast (not big portion but is good enough).

Yelp
WholeFood (not to be confused with Whole Foods) opens early, at 7 AM and for two wandering tourists who happened to be up at 8 AM and hungry, it was meant to be. We were feeling a healthy breakfast kind of deal. R had a craving for a salad or something similar. Like most of the Japanese cafes we went to during our time in Japan, it's maddening how cute they are. It's got this homey, European vibe with its birch wood surroundings and such. They even had this little book shelf on the side with books! Luckily, they had English translations. Also, there was two other groups eating breakfast when we arrived. Guess we weren't the only early risers. We got the Japanese breakfast and the salad and scone. The Japanese breakfast came with a bowl of grain rice, soup, and all these little veggie sides. There was a small bowl of natto. I'm sorry to admit that despite my mother having bought natto home during my childhood, I have never developed a taste for it. Some of the veggie sides were pickled while the others must have been freshly stir fried. I definitely felt a lot healthier after eating breakfast here. Price wise, I deem it as friendly. Staff is quite friendly!

Yelp
A lovely breakfast and lunch spot. We had breakfast here before heading out for the day of sightseeing. I had the granola with soy milk- yummy! Husband had the Japanese breakfast set. All vegetarian and delicious. Nice service as well with English menus and a wait staff that spoke English.

Yelp
Ordered a scone for take out so can't comment much. The people were genuinely friendly unlike a number of Japanese places who are polite but lack warmth. If I don't consider the scone a scone but a biscuit, it is tasty. But it definitely ain't a scone. hence the four and not five stars.

Yelp
It is very tough to find a restaurant in Japan if you are vegetarian. I can suggest a solution for you, Apprivoiser. Apprivoiser is the restaurant serving special Japanese style Set menu, drinks and smoothies. They use only organic vegetables and they also have some non-vegetarian menu. I knew this restaurant for a while because I've always been passing in front of the place. I wondered whether this is a good place or just an ordinary cafe. Today, I missed lunch and it was already after 2:30 pm. I was not sure they still serve food but I asked "They are any chances to have food at here. They said "Yes, we still do" so I just jumped into the restaurant. There was a patron at there when I visited. It is not a busy restaurant. Anyway, I choose today's set menu, the main dish is Deep fried soy meat with Ponzu sauce. It sounds not tasty but I would like to try. It was much, much better than I thought. A chef, Ai said they have many foreign vegetarian guests who have difficulty finding proper vegetarian restaurant in Japan. They cook food for each guest carefully so you can feel safe even you have some limitation to have meals. This place is an oasis for vegetarian who bored to have Udon or Salad in Japan.

Yelp
The wife and I were staying nearby and wanted a quick breakfast. This is what we could find on Yelp. The food is decent and I have no complaints. Nice little place to come for breakfast if you have the time. The staff was nice and the service was efficient. Then again, you're in Japan so it'd be weird if they weren't efficient. Anyway, my wife had the toast and jam and I had a breakfast sandwich. For a piece of toast with some jam, I found it to be slightly pricey at ¥500. Not quite avocado toast territory but almost. The breakfast sandwich I had was a bit more but was more substantial and was able to fill me up for the morning prior to doing some sightseeing.

Yelp
I wanted to have breakfast there but I was a little late and ordered a vegetarian lunch instead. All tasted very good and the service was nice too. (English menu and English speaking staff.)

Yelp
Stopped by early for breakfast and was disappointed to find out they don't serve eggs. I tried the granola with milk instead. It was quite delicious and surprisingly filling. Friendly and attentive service from the guy who served me. I would come back again for the granola.

Yelp
We tried it for breakfast. It's an adorable place and the food is pretty good. The breakfast curry is awesome. The coffee is pretty bad though-- not smooth and has a bitter burnt aftertaste.

Yelp
Plenty of western options if you need them, but the Japanese breakfast is bomb. Great soy lattes, and a good green smoothie. Fast wifi, good for groups of 1-6. It's a good place to get caffeinated and plan your day.

Yelp
Amazing food and staff! I would definitely come here again. Good for a nice morning pick me up. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Food and soy latte are excellent. But portions are on the small side. Services are great, and the setups (music, tables and chairs) are relaxing and comfortable.

Yelp
A great find for vegans, or omnivores who like healthy eating. Location: across from Sunroute Hotel on Kawaramachi-dori btw Matsubara-dori & Takatsuji-dori, this is easy walking distance from the river and Gion or Gojo metro station. There's an awning, sign & menu chalkboard outside with the name in English. The place is easy to find, unlike many in Kyoto! Ambiance & menu: the ground floor cafe is open for breakfast, lunch and desserts (8AM-7PM) and has organic coffee , tea, smoothies, muffins, scones, biscotti, sandwiches & free wifi. We had the vegetarian lunch special (1000 yen) a generous and tasty serving of miso soup, green salad and soy nuggets, brown rice, carrot-walnut salad , kinpira, and pickled veggies. The atmosphere was welcoming, the service quick and the hosts and menu are bilingual. This has become my go -to place in downtown Kyoto.

Yelp
It's so hard to find something healthy to eat in downtown Kyoto, so I was really happy to find this gem. Their fantastic vegetarian lunch sets are a great value, and they have a cheap and delicious home made ice cream and granola sweet set for dessert. The staff are friendly and contribute to the comfortable unhurried atmosphere. The one table outside is a nice place to get some sun and the wifi and power plugs at two of the tables inside make it a good place to get some work done. Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Good vegetarian dishes available and nice drinks! Service is good and our waiter spoke English. English translations are available for menus as well.
