My overall review of Apricot Hotel is mixed, with both positives and negatives.
Positives:
The location is excellent, which is always my number one consideration when selecting a hotel in any foreign country other than Australia or China. The lobby is well presented, and the library on Level 9 is quiet and pleasant. The staff are friendly, and the shower room is very spacious, which I really appreciated.
Negatives:
Unfortunately, the room itself was quite dirty, with black marks and dust on the walls, and it smelled old and stuffy. When I requested a room change, I was told that no rooms were available due to peak season. While I understand the situation, I was not satisfied with the response.
I was also disappointed upon entering the allocated room. I was placed on Level 4, and given my last name, I would have appreciated some sensitivity around room allocation. That said, I am not particularly superstitious, so this did not affect me significantly.
Overall, the facilities, cleanliness, and experience of this hotel align more with a 3-4 star standard by Sydney benchmarks.
On balance, the stay was acceptable, especially considering I paid only half of what I paid for my stay at the Sheraton in Ho Chi Minh City.
