Apu Lodge

Shout-out to the wonderful staff here! They all went above and beyond our expectations—very friendly, helpful, and passionate. We especially enjoyed our conversation with Jose, who shared incredible advice on hiking and touring, as well as insights into the local history and culture. We loved our stay so much that we ended up extending it to five nights. The lodge is beautifully decorated, surrounded by stunning mountains, and features a quiet, colorful garden. The location is convenient—just a two-minute walk to the main plaza—but it’s not accessible by car. The staff kindly help carry your luggage to the lodge, which is much appreciated. One small issue was that the drainage in one of the rooms we stayed didn’t work as well, and the bathroom window had a gap that allowed moths to fly in at night. However, this didn’t reduce our appreciation or enjoyment of our stay.

My husband and I stayed at Apu Lodge for three nights and absolutely loved it. Tucked just off the main path yet still an easy walk to everything in Ollantaytambo, it felt peaceful and perfectly located. The staff was incredibly warm and welcoming, and the fresh, delicious breakfast each morning was a highlight. A very special mention to Edgar, who provided our transportation to and from Cusco and offered unforgettable tours along the way. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and an incredible value, he truly made our stay extra special. Be sure to ask the lodge for Edgar for any transportation needs!

My husband and I had a delightful stay at the Apu Lodge in beautiful and fascinating Ollantaytambo. The room was lovely with views of the colorful garden and Incan ruins in the distance. The hotel was also very quiet which I appreciate almost more than anything when traveling! ||We spent three nights at the lodge and started off every morning with a delicious breakfast including an omelette, freshly squeezed orange juice, and fresh fruit such as papaya or mango. ||The lodge kindly arranged a 2-hour private tour of the archaeological park for us, as well as a wonderful day trip visiting the circular terraces of Moray and Maras Salt Mines. Edgar was our driver and tour guide for the latter. I highly recommend him. He is very kind and knowledgeable, and a safe driver. He also took us to a textile workshop in Chinchero before dropping us off at our hotel in Cusco. It was a very enjoyable and memorable day!

Apu Lodge is an oasis at the edge of the quaint town of Ollantaytambo. Its grounds are filled beautiful flowers, birds, and vegetations. Hundreds of different flowers line the walls and walkways. We enjoyed the chatter of birds and the floral beauty each morning begore breakfast|We stayed in a family room with 4 beds. It was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom had a great shower. All were very clean and tidy . |The staff were welcoming and accommodating. They provided a daily cooked to order eggs breakfast with cereal, local fresh bread and fruits. In addition, they offered us hiking poles to use on our hike up to the ruins behind the lodge. |There is tea water and filtered water, as well as coca leaves available 24/7. |While the initial walk seemed far from the square, (.3 mile) along a cobblestone alleyway, but the staff carted and lugged all of our luggage to the lodge. That .3 mile actually provided a welcome respite from the noises of town- a beautiful tranquil setting. Plus, we got our steps in easily. |I HIGHLY recommend this lodging for a stay in Ollantaytambo. I wish we had more time to stay longer.

Wow! This special place is like nowhere I have been. The gardens are magic. Apu lodge lies at the base of a sacred mountain, and its quaint and clean accommodations do not disappoint! The energy of the sacred valley is strong here, with healing journey opportunities nearby, gardens to wander, and easy access to the plaza. We have enjoyed our time in Ollantaytambo like no other place and Apu Lodge has been the ideal place to base our stay. The simple and delicious breakfast fuels us, the coca tea warms us, and the people who oversee the lodge generously share their kindness and caring. Thank you Apu Lodge!

We had a good experience at Apu Lodge. While it isn't a luxury hotel, the price was right for the area, the room was clean, the staff was super friendly and accomodating (transported our luggage to and from the town plaza), the breakfast was adequate, and the beds were comfortable. We chose to have a family room since we like extra space and the room was huge. Pleasant garden like setting but a bit of a walk along cobblestone walkway to the hotel (if you have any mobility issues).

We really enjoyed our three night stay here! It is about a 5 minute walk to the main plaza with many restaurants and markets. The hotel is tucked back so it is quiet and peaceful. We had plenty of hot water, although WiFi is spotty. Breakfast was fresh daily with eggs cooked to order. Leo was very helpful, informative, and accommodating. We would definitely recommend to stay here!

I loved my stay at Apu Lodge and would recommend it to anyone! The best part was the people who worked there - they were so helpful, from preparing me breakfast when I had to leave very early for a trip to Machu Picchu, to carrying my luggage down to the main square for me. ||The room was nice and the place was very peaceful. The location was also very convenient to feel slightly out of the main areas but still within a short walk of everything.
