Apukka Resort - Glass Igloos Hotel - Husky & Reindeer Farm and Tours

We had such a great time staying at Apukka. We loved staying in an igloo room. We were unlucky with no Northern lights but it’s still a cool experience. The breakfast is really incredible, such good quality food. There are lots of great activities to do onsite, just keep in mind they all cost quite a bit. The hotel bus is convenient but given the price of the room per night, I think it should be included in the price for guests. We did a lovely walk along the frozen lake and the hiking trails in the wilderness area a 10 minute drive away are great. I think including snowshoes in the room rate would also be a nice touch. We really liked the staff as well. Thanks for a wonderful stay

A very well run resort. Plenty of activities to choose from, delicious food, and a very helpful and responsive staff. This was a surprise trip for my wife’s 50th birthday. The staff did an excellent job of decorating our family cabin before our arrival. Cozy, comfortable cabin with nice beds. The activities were great (we chose dog sledding and snowmobiling), but I would recommend doing the snowmobiling during the daytime so you can better enjoy the beautiful scenery. The breakfast buffet was nicely ran, with lots of offerings and fresh, hot food. We dined at both Ravintola Aitta and Kota for dinner. Both were excellent, though the menu selection at Kota could be a bit larger, and offer a child’s menu perhaps. The staff did a wonderful job surprisingly my wife with her birthday cake after dinner at Aitta, and even sang her a birthday song. Overall, this is a very nice resort, but NOT CHEAP. I see several reviews mentioning the price of things, but I think they do not understand the expense in running such a nice place in an area as remote as this. I would come back again.

Review of lakeside sauna only- We didn’t stay at Apukka but booked the lakeside sauna here and were thoroughly impressed. We did four saunas during our Lapland trip and this one was by far our favourite! It was extremely clean and well maintained, perfectly hot, and well stocked (robes, slippers, towels, waters, conditioner, shampoo and body wash). You have complete privacy with a changing area in your cabin, as well as cozy chairs outside if you want to cool off without jumping in the lake. The dip in the water was amazing and the staff made sure to explain the whole process, give tips, and kept on top of clearing ice from the stairs. Our sauna host was named Anders, I believe, and he was absolutely amazing. Such a lovely person that the hotel is lucky to have working there! The rest of the resort area also looked really nice and well maintained

We stayed at Apukka Resort for two nights in February and the experience was amazing. The Aurora Cabins are truly fantastic: waking up surrounded by the snow-covered nature of Lapland, with the chance to admire the Northern Lights right from your bed thanks to the panoramic glass roof, is an indescribable feeling. The cabins are cozy, spotlessly clean, and meticulously cared for down to the smallest detail. The activities offered absolutely lived up to expectations, making our stay even more special. The restaurant for dinner was excellent, with well-presented, high-quality dishes, in keeping with the quality of the property. Special praise goes to the staff: professional, kind, and always available. They made us feel at home from start to finish, with a level of customer service that is truly rare. If I really had to find a small improvement, I personally would have preferred a few more sweet options for breakfast, but it's probably a question of Italian tastes, however it's still excellent quality and well-organized. I highly recommend Apukka Resort to anyone looking for a magical experience in Lapland. An unforgettable stay that I will cherish forever!

Apukka Resort is a truly magical place — like a winter village from an Arctic fairytale. The igloos are beautiful, cozy, perfectly warm, and very well maintained, offering an unforgettable experience under the stars. The entire resort is thoughtfully designed with great attention to detail. The village itself is enchanting, peaceful, and perfectly set in the Arctic landscape. The staff are wonderful — warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. The restaurants offer a great selection of food, including excellent local specialties. It’s the perfect place to fully relax, disconnect, and experience the magic of Lapland The only thing that could be improved is the lack of coat racks in the restaurant. In −20 °C you can’t realistically walk from the igloos to the main building without proper outerwear, and hanging three bulky layers on a chair is quite inconvenient. Anyway, I would give 20/10

I want to give direct and honest feedback about the dog safari at Apukka Resort. We were very disappointed with the experience. The dogs did not appear well trained, the sled frequently stopped, and the pace was very slow. The overall organization fell clearly below expectations. We paid 350€ for two people for what was marketed as a two-hour safari, yet the actual sled ride lasted only about 15 minutes. Most of the time was spent on instructions and watching the dogs. This felt misleading compared to what was promised. I was also concerned to see the dogs working in -20°C conditions for tourist activities. In a country where dogs are often treated like family members, this raised uncomfortable questions for us. Additionally, some of the handlers were unfriendly, which further worsened our experience. Considering the large gap between expectation and reality, a 20% refund does not feel fair or reasonable. We visited Apukka Resort and it’s a fantastic location for aurora spotting. Set away from city lights, the surroundings give you a much better chance of seeing the Northern Lights when conditions are right. It feels peaceful and remote, which really adds to the whole experience. Even on a quieter night, it’s an amazing place to be under the Arctic sky. Well organised, beautiful setting and definitely worth visiting if you’re in Lapland chasing the aurora. I’ve added some photos and videos from our evening there. We would rate our stay 4.5 stars - overall we had a very good stay.||We stayed in an Aurora King Cabin. The window defroster in the glass dome was very effective. The bed was very comfortable and the cabin cosy. Luggage storage for two large suit cases was pretty tight. The angles in the bathroom meant my husband had to duck to shower and there was no real shower barrier which meant the bathroom would get quite wet. There was a squidgy to wipe off most of the water from the shower and the heated flooring also helped.||All guests are loaned a free snow suit, socks and boots. They seemed to be in good condition and could stay in your cabin when not in use. We liked that they were available for the whole stay so that you could use them even if just taking the little coastal walk or sledding. ||As part of our stay we had a few included activities. For all the activities you would meet in a central spot and then walk a short distance (5-10 minutes) to start the activity. The Northern lights snow train would have been fantastic if the Northern lights were visible (which they weren't for us on a cloudy, semi snowy night) but was otherwise essentially sitting in a enclosed carriage and then sitting in a tent for a few hours. ||The husky sledding was pure joy and you can tell the dogs are well looked after. The instructions were clear and the guides attentive to the group. The gentlemen who hosted us and told us about the husky teams was excellent.||The evening reindeer sledding was also enjoyable especially with the snowy covered trees along the track and the warm juice in the hut. The sled is made cosy with reindeer hides on the bottom and a blanket over you. ||There is a lovely forest walking trail along the lake and fun to be had sledding down the small hills at the resort. there is paid, shared transport to Rovenemi and the airport however we found it about the same to uber.||The food at Apukka generally very good. The kota hut is a bit more intimate and was delicious. The regional dining experience in the main area was a bit disappointing - unbalanced flavours, bit too much salt and meat slightly over. The breakfast was bountiful and good quality. Shout out to the friendly gentleman at the egg station. The F&B staff were generally pretty good though you can tell that they could have done with a few extra staff as they were often hurried and you often had to flag someone down.||Customer service was fine, sometimes information wasnt clear and we also would have liked to know that there was an adults only area above the reception. Lots of excited families at the resort.||We didnt see the Northern lights over the three nights because of the cloud cover. But the good news is whilst apukka cant control nature, they make up for the rest and it is definately a great place to stay with plenty to do.
