Jason and the team are fantastic diving instructors and supervisors. They have a calmness and confidence that eases into the diving experience. This is especially comforting if you’re an anxious, new or even very experienced diver. The bookings are intimate and personalised. A tea or coffee and delicious “brown” (roasted) peanuts are served at the end of the dive. Deb was extremely quick in her correspondence responses so booking was a breeze and very flexible. Thank you for guiding me and despite the lake being angry, it was without judgement that you guided us into a great diving experience.

Super friendly owners and staff! We did 2 dives during the day and saw the famous aquarium fish in the wild as well as the underwater rock formations. Even though the visibility wasn’t great, it was definitely worth for us diving in this lake. Can 100% recommend this dive shop; good gear, very professional divers and good vibes all the way. Be sure to go diving with them when you are in Malawi!

Fantastic diving. Jason is a great dive master (and padi master instructor!). He made everyone feel safe and had a fun cheery personality. The diving spots were top notch, don’t be fooled by the swell on the surface, 5m down there’s no surge. Night dive too was quite the experience, highly recommend it.

I made two dives with Aqua Africa and both were spectacular. The biodiversity of fish in the lake was a wonder to see. It was a very friendly and casual but also an extremely professional and well-run operation. I traveled a long way to get to Lake Malawi for a dive and I'm really glad to have gone diving with Aqua Africa.

I had my first diving experience in a lake - up to 12 metres deep - and it was a complete success! The equipment was in perfect condition, with the exception of the wetsuits, which looked a bit used but were clean and odourless - the most important thing for me. The whole dive was excellently organised: Bginnibg with the introduction and briefing to the dive itself up to the follow-up, such as stowing the tanks and cleaning the equipment. The diving instructor (Jason - the calmest, friendliest and funniest person I could have ever wished for as a diving instructor) and the entire team (many thanks as well to Debra and Philippa) on site made every effort to create a pleasant and safe atmosphere. A real highlight - apart from the diving and watching the fish - was the delicious coffee with freshly roasted peanuts afterwards, served with a fantastic view of Lake Malawi. Looking forward to our next dive together, Jason. Many thanks again for everything. The prices are absolutely fair for the quality offered: You can tell that a great deal of attention to detail and a high standard of safety and well-being are applied here. A clear recommendation!

Diving dream in Malawi The guys working at Aqua Africa, especially Craig, are extremely professional and they will ensure you have a safe and fun dive. They will go through all the steps to make sure you are comfortable and confident during your dive. The lodge is very cozy and the staff super friendly. They are also the only lodge in town with WIFI, which is extremely helpful, getting people from other lodges/hostels coming over to enjoy their delicious food and drinks while surfing the internet. So overall it was an amazing experience and I would really recommend Aqua Africa to anyone coming to Nkhata Bay, for both diving and accommodation. Special thanks to Debra and Craig!

The whole experience was amazing, from booking to waving goodbye. My partner and I are both complete beginners and Jason was such a patient and encouraging instructor even though we were anxious slow learners. Highly recommended.

Great place, friendly, welcoming, relaxed, great fresh food and coffee. Fantastic scuba experience - staff and equipment perfect. Great place to try a night dive because of clear fresh water and nothing that wants to eat you. Came for 3 nights and stayed for 6. Recommend 100%.
