Great stay even during the cyclone. The staff at reception and house keeping couldn’t do enough to help and support you. The location is great and walking distance to everything you needed. Hostel doggo Bailey had a gorgeous temperament and great for hugs and to play. Regular hostel events and super easy to make friends. Discount at the restaurant next door is worth doing even on a budget. Highly highly recommend!!

A good hostel with good facilities, including pool area, social area and kitchen. |The people who work here are friendly and you get a free welcome drink on arrival. Dorms are swept through and hand towels replenished in bathrooms everyday. |However, the biggest downfall was the bedrooms. The mattresses are thin so it feels like you're sleeping on the metal rack on the bunkbed. There are no curtains or bed side lamps for each bed. Also, was in a 10 bed dorm with no curtains for windows and one bathroom to share which isn't practical. |Despite this, the atmosphere of the hotel is good.

Such a delightful surprise. Needed to book a last minute accommodation around 8pm and most places had their reception closed, luckily for me I came across at this gem at the heart of Byron Bay and Greg took good care of me right since I arrived past the checkin time. There’s plenty of activities going on so if you’re travelling solo you will have plenty of opportunities to mingle. In short, if you need somewhere to crash during your stay in Byron bay, this is your home.

I would recommend this hostel to other solo travellers. I had an amazing experience staying here in May. The staff were great too especially the guy on reception I think his name was Yanni. He was super respectful and always around for a chat.

I stayed here recently, and have to say I was left unimpressed. The dogs, wandering around the hostel freely (including in the pool) was not something I was a fan of. The room also had no air con& the staff came in loudly at 10am to clean the rooms with blaring music. They were all unfriendly and the vibe was just not great. The fridges in the kitchen felt so dirty, but the cafe on site and group activities are great. The room is spacious, but not great and very very hot. They also broke the necklace they used as a deposit.

Wow is all I can say! This hostel was magical, I met the most amazing people here, the staff are SUPER kind and welcoming and everyone is super inclusive. Trivia was amazing and featured some fun drinking games! Beautiful facilities, clean rooms and the optimal location!! Thank you guys so much for making my 3 nights in Byron the most memorable and fun!!! Cheers!

Stayed one night fortunately. Weird dorm set-up. Shared bathroom per dorm rather than one main shared bathroom. Doesn't really work. Wake people up, people queuing for toilet, shower. Also no soap for hand dispenser, empty both day's and no towels ( you have to buy one). Bathroom was gross, missing tiles etc ppl leaving dirty underwear everywhere. Also there was jackhammering during the day so can't really relax by the pool. Cheapest for a reason.

I’d like to start by saying that the location of this hostel is fantastic. The beach is close by, as well as nightlife and a grocery store. The hostel itself has a lot of potential, with beautiful communal spaces and facilities. The loose dogs around the property add a cozy and homey feel (we even saw them swimming in the pool). However, they did occasionally poop beside the pool and pee on the sunbeds, which was less ideal. That said, we were extremely disappointed with several aspects of our stay. We had travel issues with the buses and arrived a day later than planned. When we called to inform the hostel and explain the situation, we were met by a very rude woman who dismissed our concerns, was unhelpful, and made us feel like we were at fault. We want to clarify that we did not expect a refund due to our late arrival. We simply wanted to be helpful by letting the hostel know in case another backpacker could have used the room for a night instead. It was disappointing to be met with such a rude and dismissive attitude when we were genuinely trying to do the right thing. Once we arrived, the staff at the hostel itself were equally unwelcoming. They were arrogant and disinterested in us as guests. Walking past reception, we rarely received a greeting, and we felt more like a nuisance than valued guests. It was also unclear who actually worked at the hostel versus who was a guest, as the staff mostly hung out with each other and didn’t make an effort to engage with us. We also overheard staff members speaking very negatively about the guests at the hostel, complaining about how difficult it is to manage various activities and criticizing how people choose to dress. Regarding the rooms, the hostel claims to clean them twice a day, but we found the floors consistently dirty, even when there were only three of us in an eight-person dorm. The space felt dusty and unhygienic overall. Additionally, there were no large lockers to store backpacks, only small ones for valuables. This made us anxious, especially since the cleaning staff often left the dorm doors wide open while they were working, leaving our belongings vulnerable to anyone walking by. In summary, this is a beautiful hostel with a lot of potential, but it’s not suitable for solo travelers due to the lack of organized social activities and the unfriendly atmosphere created by the staff. Considering the price we paid, we would not recommend this hostel. We stayed for five nights but left feeling disappointed.

Yelp
Aquarius Backpacker's is a great place to stay for anyone wanting a bit of a lively party atmosphere. They offer tours at great discounts, have an awesome food menu, the best happy hour around town, great atmosphere and super friendly staff. I stayed here for a few nights and would have stayed longer if they weren't booked out on a Saturday. Even with all the great amenities provided, I was a bit relieved to leave the party dorms because, well, it's just not my scene anymore and there's only so much I can handle! If you're looking for a quiet place to stay, this likely isn't it. If you're looking for fun and sometimes delightfully tacky entertainment, look no further. Aquarius is also centrally located making everything super walker friendly. Discounts on food from their restaurant or free dinner included.

Yelp
I lived here for 2 months, and i have neer been so happy in my life. Byron bay is my favourite place on earth, and while searching for somewhere to crash, i stumbled upon aqaurius and instantly feel inlove. its proxomity to the beach is amazing, about a 2min awalk. but the attitude and lay out of the place is what makes this place great. The central point being, what we call in South Africa, a Boma, which is an inclosed area with natrual materals, with a long wooden table in the middle where everyone hangs out. a bar on site, and a lazy chilled out attitude during the day..you can seriously loose whole chunks of your life living here.

Yelp
Solid hostel in Byron Bay. Stayed only for one night while in the midst of figuring out my next move, and I was impressed. For $35 a night, I booked a spot in an 8 person room, of which only 5 spots were filled, so it was nice and quiet. The room was spacious and the bathroom was clean enough. There was a patio on the back with a table and chairs for just our room's use. Loads of activities happening around the hostel. The pool is wonderful, there is a bar and food selection of which residents get 15% off, and the most fun thing I experienced was the trivia night. SO fun. There is a communal kitchen for use and you can rent cutlery for a deposit; wifi is extra, but there are computers for use in the lobby. Travel desk can help you book any excursions you may wish to take. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a fun time in Byron.

Yelp
I fully endorse the last review, had the best time of my life staying here. You can spend whole days enjoying a bottomless mug of tea on the veranda watching life go by on the beach and then a hop skip and a jump into town for nights out of spend your evenings with a crowd of like-mided folk within the hostel. The location and atmosphere are so relaxing, my time in Byron Bay flew by and I can't wait to return one day.

Yelp
The hosel was basically clean and most of the staff was great. They told us on check in that we could check out late just to go the the front desk the morning of check out and find out what time. When I went in to ask what time the front desk man said no 10, even after explaining that we were told otherwise he just said no. Not very good customer service. Also, we booked a private room, only it really wasn't private. We had a room in an 8 bunk dorm. They say they give you free dinner but the nights we were there it was not dinner. Seems to be a gimmick. The first night it was "curry," mine had literally one piece of meat, sauce, and a small scoop of rice. My boyfriend paid extra to "man size" his and had three pieces of meat and some veggies. The second night "dinner" was a small dish of nachos. Just not really a "dinner." I'm tiny and don't eat much and it didn't nothing for me. It is $20 cheaper than other hostels around, for a private room, but if you're wanting privacy I'd say spend the extra money. Last but not least there were ten of us sharing a bathroom that was cleaned daily, cleaned does not mean cleaning the shower, a pile of hair sat in the corner of the shower for three days.
