CHECK AND DOUBLE CHECK WHAT THEY ARE CHARGING YOU
THIS IS MY Heartbreaking Farewell to a Once Beloved Gem!
I first stumbled into Aquarius over six years ago. Like a moth to a flame (or perhaps a crystal to its chakra), I was immediately enchanted by the place. The atmosphere was electric, the air thick with possibility and the glimmer of treasures waiting to be discovered….and the staff being AMAZING! In those early days, frequent pop-ins turned into minor splurge adventures, my heart swelling with joy as I unearthed unique stones that whispered secrets of the universe (especially the stones in the case). However, it seems even the most magical places can dim over time.
In recent years, my relationship with Aquarius has become….less frequent. Each visit feels like a bittersweet reunion, where the vibrancy I once cherished has been overshadowed by an uncomfortable feeling.
My last several visits I’ve noticed an intrusive shadow—an employee whose attentive presence is more intrusive than protective. It’s as if I’ve unknowingly donned a sparkly "suspect" crown, even with the new person I bring…we are treated like a potential shoplifter.
As if that weren’t enough, my last few solo excursions have compelled me to take a much-needed hiatus. I started to frequent Aquarius during its “dry” hours—the calm before the storm…hoping for solace in the quiet. Yet, my peace remains elusive as I continue to be scrutinized under the watchful eyes of the staff. I can’t shake the feeling that my love for Aquarius has morphed into an unwanted spectacle.
Adding insult to injury, my recent experiences with the receipts have transformed into a puzzling riddles of numerical mischief.
Picture this: I purchase eight stones (amongst other things), ***no stone under $5 and the total didn’t just differ from what was expected; it threw in a little surprise, like a $1 “whoops, we love your business” charge that felt more like a gentle jab than an accidental oversight. I’m not talking about the taxes, I’m talking about the over in total. EXAMPLE: They will ring up your 6 stones as one stone (which is fine if the price is right) and let’s say my stones were priced at $5, $10, $15, $20, $25, and $30, my subtotal before tax would be $105, correct? However, the receipt might show a total of $106 or $107, before TAX, interesting, isn't it? My last visit, I find myself entangled in this little game, as if the universe is playing a cruel trick on my budgeting skills. Tho I will admit, I would look past it…hell it’s a dollar…maybe even an accident. But now, I’m not so sure.
Oh then there are the rewards cards or coupons, I heard an employee talking to a customer about for Aquarius, I’ve never personally heard of or been privy to.
I guess It must be a secret club I can’t quite enter. No matter how much money I spend.
So, dear Aquarius, it is with a heavy heart and a sprinkle of sass that I must step back. I miss the spark that drew me in, the carefree joy of simply wandering your store, and the thrill of spontaneous discovery. This isn’t quite the love story I envisioned when I first crossed your threshold, and though I hope to return one day, I can’t help but feel that our magic has faded into a poignant, yet witty, memory. 💔✨
And to all those who shop there, moving forward be diligent, be kind and as ALWAYS double check your receipts!
We are stronger in numbers and if you want something to change…you have take a stand even if it means walking away from something you love! 💔
