Very friendly staff from the minute you walk-in. I asked about some of the items of the chalkboard menu and the cashier said she was not really aware of it because it was new - this is good and bad. Good because they are constantly adding to their menu, bad because they should really know what the menu items are. They bring you a (very small) starter plate of freshly fried tortillas but the salsa looked and tasted very store bought, and it was sweet which was unexpected. We also didn't get a cup of water, but when we went downstairs to request water, we got bottled water which was nice.
Service was timely. My vegetarian burrito or so been a nice glass plate while my fiancé's tacos were served in a plastic plate, can't explain the discrepancy. That didn't really take away from the experience at all. The veggie burrito was quite delicious. They stuffed it with a lot of veggies rice and beans, which is a vegetarians dream! My fiancé ordered chorizo, pork, and pork and pineapple tacos and he said the taste was equivalent to street tacos of Los Angeles or Texas. They also provided us with a variety of three sauces: one was an avocado and jalapeño sauce (decent spiciness), one was tomatillo (always a classic), the last one was a dark red fiery hot sauce (you may die). We also asked for pico de gallo, but there was a 250 charge for that. So we passed.
Overall, a really great place to come for some homemade Tex-Mex food. We're only here for a day for interviews, but I would definitely be a frequent flyer here if I was local.
