Our very first visit to a game reserve! Absolutely fabulous! Our tour guide was excellent and we really learned a lot. Saw the big 5. Then they served a lunch buffet with local dishes that was delicious. With local wines that a very good! Wear layered clothing with a hat. Everyone was so friendly and helpful! And experience we will never forget!!

Went to Aquila reserve on a day trip and it was worth every penny... well organised and professional with drinks and food provided. The buffet lunch was at a hotel and it was a good selection of dishes. The guide was also very knowledgeable and made the whole experience worthwhile. We saw 4 out of the big 5, which was incredible

Aquila National Park in South Africa was a really nice resort with great food, beautiful hotel rooms, and a relaxing pool area. The safari experience was awesome I did both a horseback riding safari and a regular jeep safari. I saw most of the Big Five, though I don’t think I saw any cheetahs. It’s a fenced-in national park, so while it’s definitely worth visiting if you’re in South Africa, I’d also recommend seeing the Great Migration in the Serengeti or Masai Mara if you ever get the chance nothing compares to that! Out of all the safaris I’ve done in Africa, that’s by far the most spectacular. Still, Aquila is a great option for a comfortable and scenic safari experience, and I’d definitely go back!

Aquila Private Game Reserve exceeded our expectations in every way. The atmosphere was elegant from the moment we arrived, and the staff were incredibly welcoming — genuinely friendly and always willing to go above and beyond. The game drives were unforgettable; we were lucky enough to see elephants, lions, springbok, hippos, zebras and rhinos up close. The spa facilities were also exceptional and added an extra touch of luxury to our stay. Overall, a beautifully run reserve that blends comfort, nature, and service perfectly. Highly recommended.

Really great experience but it is a little bit like an expensive safari park. Lions were just sat next to their feeding pen waiting for their next meal to be delivered. The herbivores all congregate around the food that has been put on the floor to make them visible near a road. Food was amazing and the service from all the staff is next level Was amazing to see all the animals just ruins the experience a little when you realise it's basically just a zoo.

Visiting from Canada, this facility came highly recommended. Unfortunately it was more hype than substance. The hotel is billed as a four star, but by North American standards it is really a two, maybe two and a half. The pricing is exorbitant for a product passed off as a luxury experience. The buffet felt very cheap, like something you can expect at a budget resort, an afterthought to be able to advertise that meals are included, except water, that was an expense too much for the restaurant to bear. The “safari” is the only part of the experience that wasn’t awful, but it still felt like a glorified zoo. Reminded me of Disney’s Kilimanjaro Safaris at Orlando’s Animal Kingdom. You are guaranteed to see the big five. Which at least partially redeems the visit. Overall, this place is a giant tourist trap, and personally I felt it was not worth the time and expense to travel out of Cape Town for it. If you have the opportunity to visit the Kruger National Park instead, the experience will be far superior to what Aquila can hope to offer you.

So this isn't a safari, it's a beautiful huge park with animals. The lions are in an enclosure area albeit big, which at least enables you to see the lions up close. Great if you have kids and can't do a proper safari As the drives are maxi 2 hrs and you get to see the big 5. As they have food supplements the drivers go to the feeding areas and you get to see the hippos, zebras and rhino next to each other. The kids were very impressed. We adults were less so. The trucks were very uncomfortable, but the guide was lovely. We especially liked his knowledge about ocre and the uses of this stone. The service was very disappointing, they are quick to take your cash but less reactive when they have to sort out problems. We had booked for a room with 1 double bed and 3 singles and we ended up with a room with 2 doubles. It took 5 hrs and 4 visits to reception to get the sofa bed make up. The bedrooms however are beautiful. Our phone was stolen at the park, but that is because there are so many visitors and we had left the phone and someone picked it up. It is very touristy but when traveling with kids it was a great option

Aquila is a great choice for a quick experience, this is not a 5star resort. It’s affordable and close to Cape Town. The rooms are nice however desperately needs new furniture as many things are worn and broken. However it’s is well presented. The animals are great! There are no leopards. The vehicles are good and the guides are well organized. The food was good, nice verity of food, I’ve heard terrible things about the food but it was not that bad at all. We did overnight so it was lunch, dinner and breakfast buffet. Overall, all things considered Aquila is safe choice. I’m sure there are better reserves offer a more luxurious experience but if you want a safari experience that is close by it’s a safe option.
