Please read this before considering booking this hotel. It is not a 4-star hotel. On Saturday night, June 14, my friend and I were forced to stay overnight in Aachen after three disrupted train connections from Hamburg to Brussels. Deutsche Bahn (DB) provided us with a hotel voucher (198€) and reserved a room for us in Aquis Grana hotel so we could catch a morning train to Brussels. We arrived at the hotel at midnight, exhausted, only to face an untrained night receptionist who had to call his manager, who was sleeping, for instructions as he didn’t recognize the DB voucher. Then, he told us his manager asked us to pay the full amount in cash immediately, promising a refund in the morning when the morning team could check the voucher carefully (as he didn’t have the right skills, and the manager didn’t want to be bothered). When we asked if we could pay by credit card, he said we had two options: either pay in cash and get reimbursed in the morning, or pay by card and request a refund directly from DB, not from the hotel. But we had the DB voucher in hand, so we knew that DB wouldn’t reimburse a direct payment to us. So he told us to find an ATM outside, without even knowing which one was open, simply checking Google for "possible options." We only had 60€ in cash. We offered to leave our ID cards and the cash we had to sort things out in the morning (as you normally pay your room at the end of the stay), but he refused everything. When we asked him to call his manager again, he bluntly said he “didn’t want to bother him” because he was asleep. After I told him I felt unsafe as a woman walking around in a city I didn’t know to withdraw over 100€. He casually said, “the man can go instead.” (my friend). I was furious, realizing I was “lucky” to be traveling with a man, or I wouldn’t have been allowed to sleep. I was outraged. When we insisted we just wanted to rest and deal with the details in the morning, he became aggressive and told us we could “go to another hotel.” At 1AM. We had no choice, my friend had to go out alone to get the cash. The next morning, the staff confirmed that DB had already reserved the room. We never had to pay anything ourselves, it was a mistake from their side. This hotel absolutely does not operate at a 4-star standard. The night shift was untrained, aggressive, and unempowered. The manager refused to take responsibility and didn't train properly his night shift staff. I’ve reported this to DB and urged them not to work with this hotel again. Please avoid this hotel and stay safe.

Very clean and quiet room. amenities are ok: coffee maker, minibar, cups and electric kettle are practical. Would be great if it had a bottle of water and hair conditioner in bath.

According to Booking, we were supposed to pay at our arrival. Too bad the hotel requested the payment two days before. It wouldn't have been a problem if they didn't request a double payment due to who knows what. To be honest they did return the money but it was an introduction to the hotel management: maximize profit and who cares about the guests. The hotel room was very dirty and the bed sheets had a red stain. The staff is either unkind or unprofessional (with the exception of the man that came to change our bed sheets). I had a late night medical need and at the front desk they had no idea that pharmacies in the city take turns in staying open at night and recommended to go to the hospital. Thankfully, internet proved them wrong. The only good thing is the position but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel is situated in the town centre, it has free parking even though our car exceeds 2.2 meters. Amazing breakfast with a big variety of choices, polite staff, most of them being fluent in English, and the price for the room is reasonable. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed as a family in the Aquis Grand which was perfectly located for the Aachen Christmas markets, room was a great size with plenty of room for a cot for our toddler. Separate bathroom and toilet which worked well for us. There was a fridge in the room which was handy. The hairdryer didn’t work well in the bathroom (the highest setting didn’t work so took me a very long time to dry my hair.) Small toiletries were provided and room was cleaned daily.|Breakfast was available and we had this every morning, so much variety including continental and some hot food, great selection, highly recommend breakfast if you stay. |Staff were attentive and called us a cab when we needed one. Hotel was very central but was quiet in the evenings. Great hotel!

The rooms are fine but the restaurant is just too small for the number of guests. The photo is of the queue *to get in to breakfast* on a normal Sunday - it’s ridiculous to have so many more guests than your hotel can really handle. It’s very central if you can bear not to eat in the morning.

A very nice hotel situated right in the city center, close to all attractions. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The bathroom was very clean, and supplied with a range of toiletries. Breakfast was delicious with many options of good quality food. In short, it is a pleasant place to stay for a trip to the city

Our small German U3A group was very happy with our stay in this very well located hotel. We had asked to do all communications in German and the staff went along with this in very good spirit. The rooms were good, as was breakfast and all staff were courteous and helpful
