Ara Ambigua Lodge

Ara Ambigua Lodge is beautiful! I read some reviews about it being a little outdated, but it seems to have improved since then. The door locks are super modern (most modern I've seen in CR), very big and clean. It was a big climb to the room, but that was worth it. There was WiFi all over the property, including the rooms and lake. The restaurant was good, the breakfast was ok. The pools looked clean and the area was very beautiful (lake, forest etc.). We did the night tour and saw quite some animals.

The best thing about this hotel was the restaurant, the pool and the nature surrounding. Unfortunately the room had some problems - the shower didn't drain well, the small lamp didn't work and TV remote just worked under a distance of one meter. But the food and service really stood out.

Great yoga retreat venue - nine of us stayed for 8 nights, to enjoy daily yoga on the lovely platforms, one by the pool, the other by the lake. We loved the howler monkeys, hummingbirds, macaws, sloths, lizards and ants. The food was good. Accommodation clean and comfortable. And lovely massage treatments available too.

Food was really good. First time I have had a passion fruit sauce with a meat course (chicken) that was amazing. Plus, when I asked if they had leftovers for the following evening with the fish I ordered, even though it wasn't part of the entree, they still provided me with it. Again, it was so tasty!¹ Innovative, yet flexible really raises the bar.

A beautiful hotel with really good food, a beautiful property and very friendly staff. There are pools and some small ponds and lots of birds everywhere! There is a feeding station at the restaurant so you can watch the birds while eating dinner.

Restaurant quality is disappointing. Ordered a main dish vegetarian pasta pesto. The portion was very small and the pasta very dry.||||The view from the restaurant (the frog garden) is nice though. ||||I would not recommend to come here only for the food. We did not stay in the hotel/lodge, so cannot comment on that part of the establishment.

Very nice resort with restaurant y garden. Bird feeding stations throughout attracting tanagers, thrushes, and toucans. Red-eye frogs at night behind restaurant. Only disappointment was the quality of food. Ponds in way-back have wildlife. Recommended but pricey.

The hotel was amazing. The whole area was really pretty. The treck to the room was long but the paths were very beautiful with the plants. The rooms were very nice and well kept and the patio area outside was neat. There was a lizard in our room one night but he was chill and we relocated him outside. The showers were big and really nice. There is a small garden outside of the restaurant area that has many cool birds in the day and frogs at night. The pools weren't too impressive but they were still really relaxing to be in. The service was great also. The receptionist was very helpful and kind. The other workers were also really respectful and hard working. The food there was some of the best I have had in the country. There were many delicious options to choose from and they were hot too. I highly recommend staying here. You will not regret it.
