What to Do in Old Dubai: Our Guide

"This cafe in the historical Al Fahidi neighborhood used to be the home of a pearl merchant; now it serves traditional Emirati specialities in a charming leafy courtyard with wicker furniture, turquoise benches, and black-and-white photos of old Dubai. Come here for the Emirati breakfast: soft scrambled eggs, marinated eggplant, black olives, feta cheese, and labneh served on a giant silver platter." - Dylan Essertier, Laura Ratliff

Amazing warm hearted service from Hajjala, she gave great recommendations and explained each dish I was curious about. Atmosphere and vibe is immaculate, honestly lives up to the hype you see on social media. Was a great way to start the day off before heading to the souks. I came here 2-3 times during my visit to Dubai. Their breakfast platters are delicious and fresh. If you like liver, their liver dish was also amazing! Their mint drink was also divine in the heat of Dubai.

What a fantastic dinner after a long, tiring day! The service was excellent—special thanks to Mr. Jherson, who was warm, friendly, and gave great recommendations. The Fattoush salad and Special Lime & Mint drink were both refreshing and flavorful. We also enjoyed the Mufti Samak (fish) and Hummus—everything was truly satisfying. Highly recommended for an authentic and relaxing dining experience.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Arabian Tea House in Al Fahidi is an absolute gem that captures the true spirit of Old Dubai. The ambience is charming and authentic, making you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The food is simply outstanding – full of flavor, freshness, and tradition. Special mention to Rashmi, whose warm and friendly service made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The Laham Tahat was perfectly cooked and bursting with taste, and the Malabia dessert was the ideal sweet finish – smooth, rich, and unforgettable. This place is more than just a meal; it’s an experience that combines history, hospitality, and exceptional flavors. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Old Dubai!

Wow, the place has such a great, cozy vibe, and they have tons of food options. We got the Arabic breakfast, and it was seriously delicious and top-notch. Aslo, wide selection of Emirate food like traditional breakfast and sweet. The service is awesome and super friendly, especially Raghid and Merna. They were so nice, friendly, and made sure we were enjoying ourselves and feeling good. Definitely the best spot to get that traditional, old-school feel.

Last night I had a lovely reunion with my old colleagues at Arabian Tea House. One of them just flew in from the Philippines (our home country!) and it was also his first time in Dubai, so we thought it would be the perfect spot to catch up with each other. We were four in total, and funnily enough, it was also everyone’s 1st time to dine here. The ambiance is charming, like a mix of Santorini’s breezy vibe with Arabian touches. I loved the colors, textures, and that natural, cozy feel. For the food, we went with Emirati and Arabian dishes. We shared Machboo Laham, recommended by our host Marga, and it was deliciously tender and just the right portion for the group. We also had chicken marinated in dried lemon, which had great flavor though it came out a bit dry for my taste. The mixed sambosa was a hit, especially paired with their green chutney (a perfect match!). One of my friends tried their ice cream and enjoyed it, while I went for iced karak tea, which I loved because it wasn’t too sweet. Marga was a wonderful host.. she made us feel welcome right away. They even surprised us with free heart-shaped bread (such a sweet gesture!) and welcome treats: iced hibiscus tea, which my friends found refreshing, plus laqaimat that were tasty and fun to share. Overall, it was a delightful evening. Big kudos to Marga!! She really deserves a raise! I’d love to come back again, this time with my hubby and more friends.

Beautiful and immaculate restaurant. Impeccable service from Jherson who was incredibly attentive, friendly and spoke fantastic English. The food was authentic and simply delicious. We were even provided with complimentary Arabic coffee, dates and dessert to finish. Would 100% recommend to anyone visiting Dubai!

It was so nice to be back at Arabian Tea House after a while — and I’m happy to say it still has the same charm and warm atmosphere I remember. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the space feels peaceful and authentic. I ordered the Arabian breakfast and absolutely loved it! Fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned — perfect for two to share. I came around 11am and was hoping to see more lunch options available by then, like sandwiches, but breakfast was still being served. Still, the meal was satisfying and worth the visit. Just a heads-up: parking can take a bit of time as there’s no dedicated space — I waited about 15 minutes to find a spot. But once you’re in, it’s a lovely, relaxing escape in the heart of the city.

This place is a must visit. The ambience is amazing. The food has lovely Emirati flavours and presentation. Loved the karak Chai and phirni.. Marga was an amazing host and she ensured our time here was flawless. She suggested some good food options and even gave me a beautiful heart shaped naan!! I had requested for my karak tea pot to be heated again after finishing my meal and she very sweetly got it heated. All in all, this place is a must visit when you are nearby!! Thank you for a great experience!!
