20 Best Things to Do in Dubai, According to Our Local Editors | Condé Nast Traveler

"Housed in a restored merchant’s house in the Al Fahidi heritage district, the Arabian Tea House is my go-to for an Emirati breakfast loaded with balaleet, omelette, cheese, bajella broad beans, dango chickpeas, date molasses, watermelon jam, and piping-hot tanoor bread — order crispy halloumi and a lime-and-mint juice on the side and you’re set for the day." - Nicola Chilton

What to Do in Old Dubai: Our Guide

"This cafe in the historical Al Fahidi neighborhood used to be the home of a pearl merchant; now it serves traditional Emirati specialities in a charming leafy courtyard with wicker furniture, turquoise benches, and black-and-white photos of old Dubai. Come here for the Emirati breakfast: soft scrambled eggs, marinated eggplant, black olives, feta cheese, and labneh served on a giant silver platter." - Dylan Essertier, Laura Ratliff

Started off our Trip to Dubai with this incredible Emirati style breakfast. Highly recommend the food. Great family style experience, bring more than 2 people to enjoy the generous portions. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. The pot of Karak tea (Sweetened Black tea) is a must order. Also easy tap to pay system, standard 5% vat on meal. It does not prompt you to tip. So bring cash if you wish to add gratuity. We come from a 20% tip culture in USA being somewhat mandatory, so we may have been over tipping in Dubai but we were extremely happy and can’t wait until we return.

We visited in the late afternoon for a light refreshment before dinner. The courtyard is absolutely stunning, like stepping into a peaceful, beautiful secret garden. The atmosphere during the golden hour is a wonderful escape from the bustle of the city. We wanted something light and refreshing, and everything was good. The Lemon & Mint juice and the Hibiscus Iced Tea were nice and fresh. The hummus was creamy and delicious, and the mixed sambosa were the perfect light, savoury bite. The fresh lemonade was also a hit with the kids!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Arabian Tea House in Al Fahidi is an absolute gem that captures the true spirit of Old Dubai. The ambience is charming and authentic, making you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The food is simply outstanding – full of flavor, freshness, and tradition. Special mention to Rashmi, whose warm and friendly service made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The Laham Tahat was perfectly cooked and bursting with taste, and the Malabia dessert was the ideal sweet finish – smooth, rich, and unforgettable. This place is more than just a meal; it’s an experience that combines history, hospitality, and exceptional flavors. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Old Dubai!

What a fantastic dinner after a long, tiring day! The service was excellent—special thanks to Mr. Jherson, who was warm, friendly, and gave great recommendations. The Fattoush salad and Special Lime & Mint drink were both refreshing and flavorful. We also enjoyed the Mufti Samak (fish) and Hummus—everything was truly satisfying. Highly recommended for an authentic and relaxing dining experience.

Previously always came here for the lunch and dinner menu. Today first time trying the breakfast option. Hands down! Soooo delicious. We ordered egyptian tray breakfast. You just can’t go wrong with the food here. Carefully cooked and fresh, bread is also bottomless. Thank you Kelly and Ramy for keep giving us great service.

Wow, the place has such a great, cozy vibe, and they have tons of food options. We got the Arabic breakfast, and it was seriously delicious and top-notch. Aslo, wide selection of Emirate food like traditional breakfast and sweet. The service is awesome and super friendly, especially Raghid and Merna. They were so nice, friendly, and made sure we were enjoying ourselves and feeling good. Definitely the best spot to get that traditional, old-school feel.

This heritage Arabian restaurant in the Al Fahidi neighbourhood offers traditional Emirati as well as other Middle Eastern delicacies in a chic setting. We ordered Muttabal and Dango Plate served with Arabic tandoor bread. Both of them were really delicious. They also offer complimentary tandoor breads like many other Arabic restaurants in the UAE. We also took the Hibiscus and Milk Tea. The quantity is huge, like 5-6 cups in one kettle, so keep that in mind while ordering it. We thought it being just a cup and ended up ordering one each. Nevertheless, they were pretty good. The staff is also very nice and polite. I’d call this a good value for money.
