Yelp
The best resort in Ushuaia. Arakur is modern with beautiful amenities, including and indoor outdoor infinity pool with stunning views of the mountains! The staff are all very friendly and can speak English. I've broken down my review into three sections: Rooms, Spa, and Restaurant
ROOMS
Extremely clean, beautiful interior design, and very comfortable. I love that the curtains auto-open and I love the touch pad on the wall that controls everything from temperature to alarm clock. The rooms feel like a modern luxury, especially with the gorgeous view. Cleaning service is efficient and fantastic.
SPA
As mentioned above, the pool area is amazing. The waters are heated to a warm temperature and the outdoor jacuzzis stay very hot. The pools even have music playing underwater! There are also massage and facial services but they require appointments to be booked out at least two days in advance! I was not able to book anything because only one masseuse works per day doing both massages and facials. I could not find a time that worked for me during my stay :( My boyfriend received a massage which he said was just "OK". There are sauna rooms but they require reservations as well.
RESTAURANT
I've had breakfast, lunch, room service, and dinner at Arakur. All dining is served in a large room with big windows overlooking the town. The free breakfast...I thought was okay. It consists of mostly breads and sweets, but you can order eggs and pancakes from the kitchen. The hot foods are buffet style but I did not eat much from the buffet because I don't think the food is safe - they sit at a lukewarm temperature which is a food safety hazard!
The dinner buffet also looks so-so. I recommend ordering a la carte, which is definitely pricey compared to the average in Ushuaia. However, everything a la carte I've ordered (including room service) is delicious and the dinner dishes are plated beautifully. All of the a la carte menus are digital via QR Code and, unfortunately, there are no English menus. However, the servers are all very helpful and the menu is small and manageable.
I'm being pretty picky. Overall, I loved my stay at Arakur and highly recommend this resort to anyone looking to reside in a secluded, luxurious environment. The only major negative aspect I can think of is that Arakur is a bit secluded from town. It is about a 15min drive down the hill, which has potholes and can be pretty scary to drive on at night. I recommend taking the free shuttle to and from town. We took an old taxi once, in the middle of the night, and it was pretty...terrifying. I thought we were not going to make it all the way up the hill.
