7 kid-friendly wineries and breweries in Margaret River, Australia - SilverKris

"Boasting large, lush lawns with views of undulating vines, sparkling lakes and well-tended gardens of roses, hydrangeas and camellias, this estate pairs decadent wines at the cellar door with exhaustive restaurant menus for both kids and adults. It is especially appealing to motor enthusiasts thanks to an on-site collection of rare sports cars and vintage vehicles, and families benefit from generous outdoor space and a dedicated playground." - Priyanka C. It’s not often il write a mediocre review - but Aravina Estate with its all of its elegance and image it portrays fell way short and flat of the mark. My review is 2.5 stars ⭐️ not 3. Parking is average - the bays are narrow, most people traveling south have 4wd and even for normal sedans it’s a squeeze to get in bays. The gardens and view is really amazing and should be highlighted. The food was the big let down. I ordered the rump cap - slow cooked but the issue was the portion size and speed in which it was delivered. The size was not larger than an average entree and for $46 I expected a lot more. The rustic rosti grated pieces on top were well overcooked. Sweet potato puree was nice. Here’s my whole issue though - this dish was prepared and served not more than 3 mins after we placed our order. It was served before we even got our Glasses or soft drink we ordered.. this raised a red flag and you could taste that the cut of meat had been sitting in a hot bay for sometime before being served. This really frustrates me when places like this clearly prioritize profit over experience. Lucky I had a pizza my partner bought which then filled me up. The pizza was really nice. Surf museum was a great addition to look over with nice pieces. No cars though like in the magazines aswell so that was also disappointing on top of all the others. Nice for a look about but won’t rush back here again.

Visited Aravina Estate in Yallingup and while the setting is stunning, the food on this occasion was a little underwhelming. The pizza arrived slightly cold and lacked flavour, so I’d rate it 2/5. The garlic bread was average as well — not terrible, but nothing special (2.5/5). On the positive side, the customer service was excellent. Staff were attentive, welcoming, and made the experience much better overall (5/5). Based on this visit, I’d give it an overall 3/5 rating. However, I do plan to return in a few months and hopefully see an improvement, because the venue itself has so much potential and is a beautiful spot to relax. See my photos for a closer look at the dishes and atmosphere.

Wow what a gem of a place. Beautiful gardens to walk around. Went for lunch with a 5 and 7 year old. Great menu to suit the kids and coloring pens and papers. We had an octopus entree and a carbonara pizza. Both were exquisite. Enjoyed a lovely walk around the gardens before leaving.

We had a great afternoon at Aravina Estate, with friends. The Surf Gallery is impressive, but it’s a shame the private collection of cars is no longer on display (due to a change in ownership). The cellar door has had big renovations and they are looking great, along with the beautiful gardens. Our wine tasting was great and we stayed for lunch - we had a couple of tasty and different pizzas and cocktails. Yum!

Lunchtime service was excellent, very accommodating for children. Brilliant architecture and gardens are immaculate. Beef rib was buttery soft paired with a tart pumpkin puree and charred cauliflower, excellent wine and beer selections.

For us, this place had a lot of wow factor. The setting is lovely and the gardens are exquisite. It was a busy Sunday but we were able to have a table in the restaurant for lunch. We ordered 'share plates' and loved the food. Our waiter, Isaac, was excellent. He's obviously been well trained and is a polite yet personable young man. The wine tasting was good enough for us to arrange for some to be sent home. It was a lovely place for Sunday lunch.

Google
Aravina Estate had just introduced its summer menu on the day we visited this stunning wine-growing estate and restaurant. We were not disappointed. The menu offered share plates - including squid and a pumpkin salad that were both freshly prepared and tasty - and also main course plates. My guests ordered the barramundi that was beautifully cooked and presented, and also the prawn, pancetta and chilli linguine. An unusual combination dish, but delicious. I kept my order simple with a maghuretta pizza; not as good as Italy, but still very nice. The home-made bread was 'to die for'. Superb. The wait-staff were all from Europe: France, Italy and Belgium. Professional, charming and engaging. Top marks. The setting is lovely, completing our joyful lunch experience. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Still a beautiful property. We needed some food and were nearby. They still have the car collection but there are less of them. Did not taste any wine here this visit. We found that their food is quite expensive so I guess you are paying for the ambiance. The service was ok at the counter. We got a pager and we sat down by the water. The tempura fish tacos were quite good, nice and crispy. The squid was just ok. Our friends ordered a simple margherita pizza that came out very burnt on the crust. They were grumbling because the pizza cost $30 and yes that is too much money for what they got. It was a nice day so we did enjoy being outside.

Yelp
Probably a 4.5, good but not as incredible as some of the other wineries. The duck breast entree had a great flavour and was cooked perfectly, while the lamb main was also excellent. The views were also beautiful. What kept it from being perfect was very small portion sizes and overall it felt more touristy and crowded than other wineries. They can't be blamed for it, the wonderful grounds are a huge draw, but it doesn't have the same feel as some of the other places nearby.

Yelp

Yelp
This place is stunning the moment you walk in! The staff are always super friendly and easy to have a chat with but best of all... the food, oh my word the food!!!!!! It was mouthwatering and the serving sizes were perfect enough to fill you up but not overly big. The wine was amazing, the cab sab was my personal favourite, such a smooth drop that I just had to but a bottle! The port was so easy to drink, I could've drunk the whole bottle! We were lucky enough to have some live music while we were there and the vibes were great. I will definitely be back here, it was the best!

Yelp
OMG!!!!!! This is place is unbelievable:) I honestly can not recommend this place enough. At 5 to 3 they got us in for lunch on a Sunday like its no problem. Even tho lunch service finishes at 3, staff super friendly, beautiful, polite and knowledgable. Every course delicate and tasty and to die for. Wines ,inexpensive and smooth. Table of 9 and no one was disappointed. Very unlikely in WA. Go here, tell your friends and enjoy like we did. This is not to be missed if going to the south west!!!

Yelp
Located near Yallingup in the Margaret River wine region the setting was just perfect, from our table we had the most amazing view of hills covered with vineyards, stunning! What I love about the menu is that they use fresh local produce. I had the Tenderidge beef filet steak sandwich with the Aravina Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, it was the perfect combo and probably one of the best steak sandwiches I ever had! Steak was so tender and juicy pink in the middle, with Yallingup wood fire bread (my favorite bread!) with hand cut chips and mayo on the side (oh the mayo... unbelievably good!). My partner had the hand made Roman gnocchi and was very happy with it. For desert the deconstructed 'smashed' pavlova was beautifully prepared with fresh berries and passion fruit. I am definitely going back! Bonus is that they have a playground for my daughter!

Yelp
This winery is like no other in the area, for one reason - it has a small sports car gallery! Beautiful, in fact perfect manicured gardens surround the property. There is a cafe, cellar door, homewares shop, restaurant and function room. We stopped by over the last long weekend however due to its popularity we were unable to taste the wine. Will have to return again!

Yelp
The winery for lovers of cars. Superb old sports car display is the main attraction, backed by stunning restaurant views over the vineyards. A place where you feel at home and comfortable, where you get served the most decadent of meals. Based on a course menu ($60 for 2 courses and $70 for 3 courses), it's not easy on the bank balance but it's definitely easy on the tongue. Delicious, tasty, scrumptious, delightful, naughty, local food is presented to you without delay. It was a hard time choosing because it all looked too good.

Yelp
I'm glad Aravina is three hours away, otherwise we'd be there every weekend! They pride themselves on using local, seasonal produce and there is so much passion in their food, you can taste it! Each visit here we have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves (& the food). We always leave with at least one new bottle of wine, though most times, there are multiple bottles/boxes involved. They have a wonderful range of drink now wines as well as cellar-able ones, so all your fine wine needs are going to be covered. The service is impeccable, relaxed & friendly without being too formal or too casual. For the boys (& rev-head girls) there is the car gallery which seems to be different every time, for the kids there's the playground & for the rest - homewares, books & local made jewellery too. They really have covered everything...

Yelp
A good friend had been raving about this place for years, and finally we were down south together, and booked for lunch. I know exactly why she has been raving. Beautiful setting, highly attentive staff, and a menu which made it very difficult to choose just an entree and main from. No room for desserts I am afraid. A must do on a south west journey. Not cheap, but worth every cent.

Yelp
We all agreed it was one of our best meals (in our lives), we had an amazing lunch a few weeks ago at Aravina. The setting is classy, yet relaxed. Their wines can all be sampled. The vineyards and gardens are beautiful. Service could not be faulted. This is what lunch should be.
