Arboretum d'Antsokay

Great botanical garden, wide variety of flora, immaculately well kept. My primary reason to visit was for the birds. I was not disappointed.

Unfortunately, the staff were very inflexible and, above all, unmotivated, selling us fruit at very overpriced prices. The hotel grounds and garden are very beautiful, but you can't go outside during the day without mosquito repellent – the pests are persistent.

Positively surprised! After visiting all of Madagascar national park we had low expectations for this place but it delivered. Nicely organized, lots of birds in the trees. There aren't many tourists so you'll have the place to yourself and it's really quiet. You can also visit in the evening and see mouse lemurs

This place is a natural treasure. It is so fortunate that so much nature was preserved for us and future generations. We enjoyed the one hour day walk very much. The guide was very knowledgeable and she spoke multiple languages. we enjoyed it so much that we came back for the night tour. This was completely different and allowed us to see many birds, insects and the very special mouse lemurs. The night guide is a fountain of knowledge and works hard to make sure to find hidden things and explain everything. The gift shop is also exceptional and prices were reasonable.

Even though I am not a plant enthusiast, the area is so nicely maintained that I really enjoyed the time I spent there. There is a ticket office and gift shop where you can buy local rum, tote bags, slippers, key chains, t shirts etc. A huge advantage is that you can pay by card!

Nice place ! Have a nice guided (included in the ticket) stroll in this botanical garden (i’m not sure you could actually go by yourself). The guide was friendly and knowledgeable about all the trees and plants. There is also a small “museum” part in a building, ask your guide about the local traditions and beliefs ! For 15’000 ar it’s worth it (it’s included if your stay at the hotel ”auberge de la table” but it’s a bit pricey) I wish i could do the night tour to see the animal (like chameleons) active. They have a cafe/restaurant on site too. To go there by taxi or cyclopousse (the later is way cheaper - 4000/6000 ar ow- but it’s like 1h from tulear center).

Worthwhile stop outside of the hustle and bustle of Tulear. Wide array of interesting and unusual plants will knowledgeable english-speaking guides

Very nice place. Did an evening tour with guide and saw some mouse lemurs. Afterwards dinner in the restaurant; lovely langoustines!
