I'm always amazed at people who think outside the box. Using spaces that others would either just walk past or place in the too hard basket. So I was amazed when I recently dined at the Arbory, who have taken over a derelict, disused piece of land between the Yarra river and Flinders Street Station.
What first impressed me was the simplistic nature of the venue, timber decking with oversized umbrellas with container like structure used as bars and kitchens. They have created a very comfortable space for either catching up with friends or simply having a beer by yourself watching the ever changing activities of south bank and the Yarra river.
My visit was for lunch and I heard a rumour that they served a pretty awesome burger, and I do love a good burger. I ordered the cheese burger with fries, paid, took my number then took up a nice possie over looking the Yarra.
It wasn't long before my burger arrived, and at first sight it looked pretty amazing. The taste however, well let's just say I've had my share of burgers, some good some not so good. This burger was by far the best burger I have had.
The bun lightly toasted, the salad fresh and plentiful without being over garnish that the moment you pick it up it all falls on your lap, the meat patty cooked medium and full of flavour and juicy. One word awesome.
If you haven't been to the Arbory then I suggest you get off your bum and head down either by yourself or with a group you won't be disappointed.
