"Opened in 1929 by an Italian immigrant, Arcangeli is famed for one main thing: artichoke bread. Filled with whole artichoke quarters, topped with a buttery garlic herb mix with a crispy crust, it’s baked continuously all day long at the bakery. The family’s fifth generation, Chris Benedetti, now runs Arcangeli Grocery Company, which bakes many other breads and sells a big line of the family’s specialty foods, from spreads to pasta sauces and mustards. Other local farm products are available, including honey, olallieberry jam, and wines. Sandwiches from the deli can be eaten behind the store by Pescadero Creek." - Sharon McDonnell

Amazing spot with a wide variety of sauces, jams and bread. The sandwiches are no joke and are totally worth a try if you pass by. “The Godfather” sandwich is pretty good as it has cheese, salame, ham and some greens. Pulled pork sandwich is nice - not as “juicy” as you would expect from a pulled pork sandwich but great taste regardless.

Google
What a cute and great grocery store in downtown Pescadero! The Godfather sandwich was my favorite! I also took a couple of artichoke loaves home. They also have a wonderful selection of pasta sauces, dips, etc. We took sandwiches to Bean Hollow Beach and it was perfect!

Google
A must stop when in Pescadero, come get yourself some local wine, fresh made to order sandwiches, and their famous fresh baked Garlic Artichokes bread. $8.99 each but it’s hot out of the oven deliciousness! Bring all this back get yourself a picnic blanket, and go enjoy the ways at the beach. You can’t go wrong. This is a must stop. **Don’t forget to follow me on IG and Yelp for more great foodie places to check out Follow... @Only1ChristineLu **

Google
The shop is nice and they have a nice variety of items. They make sandwiches and it gets super busy. We had a pesto chicken and a godfather (their signature sandwich) but we weren't pleased with them, there was a lack of flavor, the pesto chicken needed maybe more flavor in their pesto or more sun dried tomatoes because I could only taste the cheese. In the godfather I would say the pepperoncini added some flavor to it, probably some mustard would've added more flavor to the sandwich. It was nice to try them but I wouldn't recommend them.

Google
Artichoke Bread sooooo good!! Eat it while it’s fresh, crunchy on the outside, soft and moist inside. They also offer one that is partially baked so we can bake at home.

Google
The garlic bread was delicious, I would have given a 5 star. But it was contaminated with some nuts ingredient and my kid had an allergic reaction right after. My kid consumed this late at night as a snack and that's the only thing eaten.

This review is about the so touted artichoke bread , garlic bread, and some attitude at the sandwich station. (June 2, 2023) The first part is about the sandwich station. If you are here for the bread, feel free to skip ahead. We went to this bakery because someone said “the artichoke bread was to die for”. Being artisan bread lovers and reading the reviews on the internet, we decided to give them a try. We were hungry so we got some sandwiches to eat at the little picnic area they have behind the building. Well, we had two chicken pesto sandwiches. They are supposed to have dried tomatoes in them according to the menu. One had, but the one I had did not. I went inside with sandwich in my hand, to show it to the ladies who made them, and told them that my sandwich was missing the dried tomatoes. They said it is under the cheese. I showed them the layers and said that there were none. One of them, while telling me that it’s just two pieces, turned her back and gave me a little cup filled with dried tomato pieces. Well, it was not my mistake; I was there with the evidence. And it’s not just about missing tomatoes. This could have been a better review if there was a humble acknowledgement of a little mistake and an apology, rather than making the customer feel uncomfortable for showing up for making the item they want complete. The bread… We got one artichoke & garlic, one garlic. They both have the classic Italian herbs. There’s nothing special about them. In fact, both are quite salty, be warned. I expected more artichokes in it and rolled into the whole bread rather than as if trying to stick it into the bread like it was a last minute decision. Because the tradition seems to be “eating the bread as soon as they are purchased and while they are warm”, I concluded that people might be positively biased towards the smell of a freshly baked bread. It stimulates the brain’s reward center. There’s no denying that the taste of a dough product, especially when warm, soaked in oil, garlic and Mediterranean herbs is tempting even when it’s a packed product. A day later, the texture of both breads were exactly like those of the grocery store-made bakery breads; not like the spongy texture of the long enough proofed artisan breads, but more dense. But they cost like an artisan bread. So, I don’t understand what people are losing their minds about. I am leaving a few photos of the artichoke bread. Personal verdict: We had very high expectations about the bread, but this “artisan bread lover” couple’s opinion is that both breads are unfortunately overrated.

Google
Awesome place. We got a fresh loaf of artichoke bread. Absolutely delicious! Highly recommend. The bread, AND the store!

Yelp
We like your partially baked breads and the godfather sandwich. also your jams and jellies. I don't think there is anything I don't like. Service is always good.

Sunil R.

Yelp
We stopped at Duarte's nearby and after a filling and delicious meal decided to take a walk before getting back in the car. We chanced upon this wonderful country grocery store in beautiful quaint "downtown" Pescadero. Calling this a grocery store is a bit of an understatement. They have a lot of goodies and have a deli and several unique items including artichoke garlic bread and ... giant cookies which I had to get. They were delicious! Wonderful friendly staff as well.

Yelp
Arcangeli Grocery is located in a small country town called Pescadero. Pescadero, California? Where is that!?! Well it's "a beautiful coastal town two miles off Highway 1 between San Francisco and Santa Cruz." I was recently introduced to their bread at a dinner and then some good friends took my wife and I on a road trip to actually visit this place! Arcangeli Grocery is famous for their freshly baked artisan Italian and French style bread that they bake all day long! They also boast a deli that makes great sandwiches and pizzas. Quaint, unassuming grocery store with a lot of history and vintage pictures from the past. The cashiers and deli workers are all so friendly and helpful! They offer a few tables in front of the store but if you walk around to the backside of the building, they have a large picnic area with picnic tables where you can sit and enjoy the surroundings. They do have three port-a-potties also. I ordered the... #1 The Godfather (grilled): salami, mortadella, prosciutto, provolone, lettuce, onion, pepperoncinis & garlic-herb spread on pesto foccacia. My wife went with the BYO (Build Your Own) Sandwich. Hot Pastrami: soft roll bread, Muenster cheese, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, & mayo. Both sandwiches were piled high with meat and both equally delicious! The pickle was good too. Not too sour. I can see why people take roadtrips here and make a nice day out of enjoying the ocean, scenic views of the nice coastline, wildlife, etc. We brought home two loaves of artichoke herb garlic bread! If you are not local, they offer their breads online: https://www.goldbelly.com/restaurants/arcangeli-grocery They have been in business since 1929! Congrats to your longevity and continued success. Support your local business.

Yelp
Excellent grocery store with a wide selection of food, wine, beer, pastries and more! Stopped by this place first as part of a larger planned trip down to Butano State Park. It was the perfect option for lunch! My order was a Chicken Club sandwich (add avocado) and a Pesto Chicken sandwich (also add avocado). Both sandwiches were grilled perfectly and they were generous with the avocado which was great. I also bought a mini strawberry rhubarb pie as well as a few Naked coconut waters and a flavor of Dirty potato chips that I hadn't tried before. The seating area out back has a couple of picnic tables and a small lawn and is a fantastic choice for those that want to enjoy their meal outdoors! Pricing was fair and I definitely feel like I got my money's worth. Service was also very quick and efficient -- I would estimate both sandwiches were done in somewhere around 15 minutes, which is impressive considering the medium-long line that they had. Do make sure to get the Garlic Artichoke Herb bread that they have as well -- it's baked fresh and was still hot when we got there.

Judy M.

Yelp
This little downtown doesn't have much, but what they have is worth a stop. There's a reason behind the hype on their artichoke garlic bread, was so good fresh! This little grocery store also has a deli, which we didn't get to try yet (perhaps another time), but there was a line during lunchtime, I bet it's a great spot for some sandwiches.

Christine H.

Yelp
We were back after some years just to get away from the rush and hustle of the Bay and to spend time together. As usual, we were pleased by their thick, flavor and ingredient-picked, and huge sandwiches! We got the Chicken Club and Toasted Turkey Chipotle. The proteins, veggies, and sauces were all perfection. You can tell they've been doing this for a long time! Note that the market also has plenty of snacks, drinks, other food items, and souvenirs available.

Ms J.

Yelp
If you're in town there are not a lot of options. The artichoke bread was delicious and now can say I've had it. Sandwich was okay. Low quality lunch meat. I think the Prosciutto label said it was from Canada, pretty generic lunch meats.

Noel B.

Yelp
I can only speak about their sourdough and (fully baked) artichoke bread. I am not familiar with artichoke. I've seen the fruit (apparently flower) but never had it. This was my first time having artichoke... bread. I thought it was great. It is crunchy-soft on the outside, tender inside, and there is some flavoring on the artichoke itself. If you get it warm, I think it is super worth getting. I ate it at the "park" behind the building, which was also swarming with cyclists and birds. It was truly a divine experience eating this bread while it is fresh. It is a big portion, so yeah unless you are breaking bread like Jesus during the last supper, or on that story where he split bread for a gazillion people, you won't be able to finish the bread. When serving this again at home, make sure to only warm the bread, do not toast it until it's crispy. Only then will you revive the fluffy interior. Same instructions for the sourdough. It was 4/5 stars, still pretty good but is significantly blander (duh!). Pro tip: get cheese from the goat shop and smother it on the sourdough or artichoke bread.

Jessica C.

Yelp
For $7 you can get half a sandwich, but for just $4 more you can get the second half of the sandwich as well... what a deal! They've got just about anything you could need for a wee picnic in the garden out back. Arcangeli is reason enough for a visit to Pescadero.

Michelle I.

Yelp
Best deli sandwiches and of course their famous artichoke garlic herb bread! We always enjoy eating in their grassy pack patio area.

Teresa S.

Yelp
My favorite stop along the coast!! Passed along this legacy to my children! Thee best pies, breads and jarred goods! Friendly folks and well organized store. A MUST GO TO!

Nat P.

Yelp
Every time we drive by we always snake a pit stop here. Great grocery place for simple things but don't be fooled by its simplicity! From their bread of garlic artichoke to their sandwich's, and even their pies at the front, it truly is worth visiting! Actually came by just to grab a pie and got their cherry pie. It was delicious! So tart with such a natural sweatiness. The staff are also friendly and kind. Overall great place to come visit!

Lee L.

Yelp
Okay, I don't think I need to tell anyone about their artichoke garlic bread. Just get it, you won't be disappointed. I strongly advise getting it fully baked and hot and eating it completely on the small tables out front. We haven't been able to replicate the crusty texture of the half-baked loaves at home. Anywho, there's more to this place than their bread, though obviously that's the main reason to come here. They do have an excellent sandwich station at the back, but if you come at lunchtime on the weekends expect a pretty long wait because the secret is out about this place. The pastries are good (they're in a case close to the front), and there's a nice variety of salads in the refrigerated section. They carry a variety of locally-produced items, such as sauces and jams. Marianne's ice cream is here too, but we never get it because it would melt by the time we made it back into the valley.

El Y.

Yelp
Cute village grocer. Famous for their artichoke bread - finished the whole thing by myself in 2 days! Come early, they might run out

Annie L.

Yelp
This is the SPOT you need to check out if you come to Pescadero. We have tried their deli in the past but what you need to try is their fresh baked artichoke garlic herb bread ($8.99 a loaf). If you catch them while they're out of the oven..it's a warm heavenly softness. You pull the loaf apart with chunks of artichoke inside. It's the best!! It's the perfect start to the day before lunch at Duarte's or with a cup of Joe next door at the coffee shop.

Melissa L.

Yelp
This place has been on my list to visit for many years and FINALLY on a day off I decided to drive down to Pescadero to pick up some of their famous bread. It's about one hour south of San Francisco and an easy drive with nice views of the ocean. The store had a few patrons when I entered so I had plenty of time and space to look around. Most of the items they stock (e.g. sauces, marinades, dressings, mustards, vinegars, wine) are their own house brand. There is a deli in back for freshly prepared salads and sandwiches. It's easy to pick up some desserts, pies and pastries along with cold cuts and cheeses for a picnic. They have a large assortment of half baked and fully baked breads. The artichoke garlic herb bread is fantastic. This a must. The crust is crispy and the bread inside is tender and chewy. The cooked artichoke hearts are seasoned and plentiful inside the loaf. One must use great restraint not to eat the entire loaf all at once! The other items I picked up were loaves of the Indian grain and German farm breads, a mini olallieberry pie and of course the olallieberry jam. The breads and jam were worth the trip. Note that some of the items in the store have tourist prices and many of the items are geared towards a gourmet palate. There is some seating out front and behind the store. Parking is available on the street outfront.

Irene L.

Yelp
We went here after a hike in desperate need of some sustenance and the Godfather sandwich and pastrami sandwich delivered! The combination of the pesto and pastrami worked well and the artichoke bread was great with Italian cold cuts. We also got a loaf of artichoke bread to take home. Overall, worth the visit for the deli and grocery store.

Robert C.

Yelp
This is a lot of grocery store in a small amount of space, with a deli. Not only is it a lot of grocery store, but it's high end food, all of it. The vegetables, the pasta, the sauces, the bread, the meat, the baked goods. Imagine Andronico's or Lunardi's in a space the size of a 7-11 and that's what Arcangeli is. My wife and I stopped by here while we stayed down the street at Coastanoa, and it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. We've been searching for a place to move to since we're both full time WFH now, and Arcangeli has definitely helped move Pescadero to the top 3. Not just with the quality of the groceries, but the prices as well, it's a local shop that seems to be here to serve the community. We both had sandwiches from the Deli. I had the Godfather, a warm toasted sandwich of various deli meats and melty cheese. My wife had an adhoc vegan sandwich, which she said was the best she ever had. They seem to carry a variety of their own sauces and local specialties (like Mariannes Ice cream) Out back they have a very nice picnic area where we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the area, with nothing but birds chirping. If we're ever nearby, we're definitely stopping in again. Great prices, amazing food, well worth a visit if you're nearby.

Kim F.

Yelp
I cannot express how much we absolutely love Arcangeli but I'll try... it is the epitome of a small town grocery with amazing local jams, honey, seasonal offerings, deli, and number one in our heart is the BREAD! So many different loaves, all delicious and fabulous. Necessary stopover, or just plain destination, while driving up the beautiful California coast.

Mckenna M.

Yelp
If you're a bread lover, arcangeli grocery is the place for you! Very time I'm out in Half Moon Bay I always make sure to drive down to pick up some artichoke garlic herb bread. The bread is so soft on the inside and has a nice crust on the outside that's not too hard. The bread itself is stuffed with artichoke and isn't too salty or too garlicky. I always get at least one fully baked load to enjoy on the beach, but I also get some partially baked loaves to bring home and give to friends! If a whole loaf isn't your jam then no worries, you can also take a look at their deli sandwiches. It's the perfect lunch to bring with you along the coast! Highly recommend dropping by this small grocery store in Pescadero for a loaf or two!

Yelp
Looking for a place to grab a bite after a pleasant drive down the Coast? Arcangeli Grocery is an excellent roadside stop just off Highway 1 in the town of Pescadero. This little grocery is best known by locals for their Famous Artichoke Herb Bread served straight and hot from the oven! This well equipped grocery/deli/bakery also serves up handcrafted sandwiches, bespoke sauces, soft drinks, fresh fruits, veggies, a nice wine section and much more to replenish yourself and your passengers on your weekend road trip. Grab your goodies and queue up in the line to pay up at the front counter. Up there, you will find friendly clerks and the bakery crew every few minutes reloading the basket with freshly baked Artichoke Herb Bread straight from the oven. There are other varieties of bread and pastries here too, but like us, people seek this place out for the Artichoke Herb Bread. Not that hungry yet? There is a half-baked version that you can take home to bake later too! Pro Tip: Where to eat?? There's a nice garden-like picnic area behind the store with classic wooden picnic tables on the lawn and bathrooms too out back. Look for the flower cart, and head down the paved driveway to the picnic area. If you are not heading off to the beach or parks, enjoy your meal here in full relaxed mode! Any way you spin it, this is a pleasant place to take a break, replenish the tummy, walk around and refresh!

Yelp
I was in the area for work and decided to stop by after seeing how many reviews it had. I walked in right at 11 am so I was the first costumer of the day. I decided to get the artichoke garlic herb bread and a god father sandwich. The artichoke bread was still warm when I got it. The crust was crunchy and flavorful while the bread was soft. I personally don't care for artichokes so I thought it tasted okay, but I gave some to my coworkers and they loved it. The sandwhich was also fine. Bread was a bit too soft for my liking but it's was okay.

Ruchira C.

Yelp
Wish I could give more stars to Arcangeli breads, as when we walked into the local store at Half Moon Bay Downtown shop selling local breads, the Pesto Artichoke Artisan Focaccia came highly recommended by the person at the cash counter. He was kind enough to even recommend that though the recipe says heat at 400 degrees for 5 mins, however he likes 250 degrees for 7 mins, better. First, the bread is a dampener coz the artichokes and pesto is hardly present in the bread apart from a minuscule side brush and some artichokes sparingly added. Secondly, we tried both the above heat settings, yet the bread was extremely dry and bland tasting. No flavour can be relished at all, infact. It is sad to have had a bad experience coz I am a huge fan of breads and love to try more and more local ones, all the time .. Hope this review can help the bakery to do something about the preparation and fix somethings. Thanks

Ariel S.

Yelp
Yes, obviously the artichoke bread is a must. Look for the warmest loaf in the bin l. BUT last time I tried the hand made ice cream sandwiches in the freezer next to the cash register and these are AMAZING!!! I had the strawberry flavor. So rich and satisfying!

Daisy G.

Yelp
I have been drooling over the thought of this artichoke garlic bread when planning a nearby camping trip for a few weeks! We arrived at this dainty grocery store and they had no more of fresh baked artichoke bread on their shelves. We were going to buy the half baked ones when we saw they quickly restocked the shelves! It was at around 1pm, which is pretty late in the day, so it was nice to see them restocking them throughout the day. The artichoke garlic bread was stuffed HEAVILY with artichoke. Not a heavy garlic nor salty taste to it. I think it was just perfectly warm and crispy, yet soft. We ate the loaf of bread at a beach near by and it was all the best vibes (-: Also a friend got apricot croissant and he said it was the best croissant he's ever had. I got a coffee ice cream sandwich and it was perfect on a hot day! They have ice cream from Santa Cruz's Marianne's in stock so it was nice to have something more rare to get. Would def come back and recommend to get their artichoke bread!!

Regina L.

Yelp
Great place for a quick lunch! Their sandwich bread is homemade and fresh, I love the focaccia. I got the godfather sandwich which was very filling and came with a ton of deli meats. We also got a loaf of their signature artichoke bread. I had assumed the artichoke was dispersed throughout the bread but it was stuffed whole in the middle. The bread still tasted great! They are a bit pricey, but for a local shop in a quaint town I was happy to pay the price. Head to the gas station a block away for some picnic tables to eat your lunch!

Olivia R.

Yelp
UNSANITARY!! First, prices have skyrocketed. There was a bare belly making my sandwich. Then it was wrapped so the food was exposed. So the second bare belly cashier and her helper were touching my a tualy sandwhich as it moved across the counter and ultimately picked up to be put in a (clean/sanitary??) bag. Been going here for many years. Sad the quality of service has gone down while prices have gone up.

Gene H.

Yelp
A great find on our Northern California vacation. Their artichoke bread is worth the visit. Best I've found!

Samantha C.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best sandwiches in the Bay Area. The bread is unbeatable and you can tell people love it by the number of people sitting in the back garden chewing away their sandwiches. I got the godfather which came with so much meat, it was so filling and I only ate half! We also got one of their huge double chocolate chip cookies, one of the biggest cookies I've seen, and it was bomb. Highly recommend if you're ever passing by pescadero and want a quick bite!!

Andreas G.

Yelp
Five stars for their garlic artichoke bread. We got a fresh loaf and it was almost gone before we were home. It's filled with a lot of artichoke and saw some people complaining that it's not really bread. All I know is we loved it and will definitely be back for more if we're in the area. Also took a loaf of the garlic bread to bake at home. Not as spectacular as the artichoke one, but still tasted really good at home. Next time we'll try one of the sandwiches.

Nona J.

Yelp
I went for their artichoke garlic herb bread that everyone raves about and I was so disappointed. My bread was mostly hollow! It was basically crust lined with artichokes with just the tiniest bit of actual bread inside. I emailed the bakery with a photo hoping they would say it was an anomaly and maybe offer a replacement but I didn't hear back. As for the rest of the shop, the shelves were about 75% branded sauces. You know the kind, they all have custom labels for the shop but they're really just purchased from a large company that does custom private labels on their mass produced items. There were some pastries and pies that looked nice and might have been made in house but I won't be returning to try them.

Sandee L.

Yelp
I had super high hopes for the freshly baked artichoke garlic herb bread. We got there around 11am and it was still warm! The crunchy, herby exterior was great, but I thought the artichoke quarters were fibrous and hard to get down. They also have half baked loaves with more variety than the famous fresh artichoke garlic herb. I pounced on the pesto cheese, hoping it was like the one at the Andersen's bakery found selectively throughout the Bay Area, but unfortunately it was nothing like it. Baking in your residential oven for 15 minutes at 300 degrees yielded a crust nothing like they can do in store. The pesto cheese just sat atop the loaf, so the inside was pretty uninspiring.

Sonu N.

Yelp
Darling local country grocery store! From the looks, it has been around a long time. Its clean, very well kept, and staffed with friendly folks. As soon as you walk in, you smell fresh baked bread-- their famous garlic herb artichoke bread of course!! But honestly they kept restocking other fresh baked goods from cookies to ollailiberry scones (yummy!) that we had a hard time choosing what to get. We also left with artichoke pesto and an artichoke tomato pasta sauce-- can't wait to try it! The highlight-- garlic herb artichoke bread was such a treat. I wish I had bought more loaves to take home and share with friends!

David E.

Yelp
So I have to hand it to Instagram, I saw the viral artichoke bread and had to try it. But at the end of the day it was the sandwiches that I enjoyed more! They have very limited outdoor seating at a few tables, but we lucked out and got a seat. The bread was good, but I'll be back again soon to have another sandwich in a gorgeous area!

Gloria H.

Yelp
We heard about this artichoke bread from a friend so we decided to go during our drive around Half Moon Bay last summer, even though it was a 30 minute detour. Luckily we came at a time when the bread was pretty fresh -- not piping hot, but quite warm. I got the artichoke garlic bread. I thought the bread itself was not that special. It was hearty and doughy, and I liked the seasoning on the outside. I was surprise to see that the artichoke component was just a huge hole in the bread filled with artichokes -- I expected they would be folded throughout the bread. The bread was a bit dry on its own so it was nice to have the artichokes to balance that out. We also bought some other artichoke items. It was a nice experience to pair with our artichoke sightings in Half Moon Bay. I would say the bread is overhyped because I didn't think the bread was particularly special. But given that there are artichoke farms along the coast, it's fun to have this homey shop with lots of artichoke products.

HanNa P.

Yelp
Snagged a artichoke bread. Very busy on weekends for the breads. Small but cutesy market. I would say line goes pretty fast so its a in and out kind of vibe. Second time here and we love the fresh artichoke garlic bread!

Naya C.

Yelp
Artichoke bread is hands down my favorite! I've been driving down for it for years, and I hope to keep doing so for many more years to come. The flavor is unbeatable, and it's always worth the trip. Their sandwiches are pretty good too! Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for something unique and delicious.

Elizabeth I.

Yelp
Love this market. Love the artichoke bread.Diffrent types of jans,Jellies Different types of spreads abd dips ,Wondwrful deli with excellence sandwiches . There is a nice picnic area out back . I strongly recommend this place.

Octavio M.

Yelp
Such great amazing food I'm coming here every time I'm near Santa Cruz amazing bread and jam and ice cream. The sandwiches are hugeeee

Nick T.

Yelp
I remember going here as a kid when I first got my license, drive out to the coast and hit the foggy drive one the 1. Now I'm 34. The artichoke garlic bread is the best. It's definitely kept its appeal as now everyone and their grandma comes out here and there will sometimes be a line around the store and a line for the fresh baked bread to come out in batches. Tons or cyclists too. Idk how they do that ride. I've never had a sandwich from their deli in the lifetimes I've gone here literally just the bread has been enough for me to stop in every other month if not more often.

Mary B.

Yelp
So many choices of fresh breads, pastries, jams etc, nice clean very organized store. Busy with people ordering sandwiches.. quick visit. Will return

Simpreet K.

Yelp
We stopped by on our way back on the weekend after camping at the nearby Camp Butano. I was surprised with the number of cars in the Pescadero downtown , it's really cute and quaint and it was nice to see the place buzzing. Arcangeli's was packed, everyone looking for the artichoke garlic bread. Me bring me, a connoisseur of everything Italian got that glint in the eye upon walking in. Ofcourse I walked out with a lot more than the bread. So here's the list of my loot: 1. Artichoke garlic bread 4/5 (I was expecting more cheese and more artichokes) 2. Arcangeli label locally made Pasta Sauces (Cioppino, Ricotta Pasta Sauce, Vodka Sauce) 3. Olive Focaccia bread 5/5 4. Scones (the lemon scone was a bright green color and very large)- 4/5 5. Italian biscotti and cookies If you are in the area, do pay this historical grocery store a visit. I read that they do a lot for the community as well so it's a good cause to support.

Yelp
This is a gem of a place located downtown Pescadero. They have a delicatessen in the grocery store as well as awesome baked bread. I got a loaf of their sourdough French bread with artichoke hearts and a loaf of their French bread with garlic in it. I ate 1/2 the loaf of the artichoke heart bread before it made it halfway down the street, sooo good, it's a meal in itself.

Yelp
Second time stopping here on a up the coast drive. Each time enjoyed bakery items. Apricot and Rasberry croissants wonderful. Nice glaze, flaky "pull", light fruit. Macaroons oozy coconut oil rush chewiness. Couldn't finish in one try. Big and dense with crispy outside

Yelp
Such a cute place to stop for a sandwich! We had just finished picking out pumpkins nearby and wanted to stop for lunch. We were lucky that there was no line and were able to get our sammies pretty quickly - we got x3 caprese sandwiches and 1x chicken pesto. We enjoyed the sandwiches in the picnic area by the back, which also has portapottys which FYI are much much better to those on the beaches. The sandwiches were great and huge! We each only ate half and saved the other half for dinner. Such a great spot in Pescadero and we will definitely be back!

Yelp
11/14/2022: Going to Pescadero State Beach? Stop & buy artichoke bread! While you're buying bread, might as well buy local veggies, too, right? Right. Since I'm visiting SF Bay Area, I decided making a bread run despite, knowing I can now order bread via the Internet; HOWEVER, it's so gratifying smelling fresh bread, my olfactory is inundated with delicious, yummy, artichoke bread wafting throughout the entire store . . . Ah'll beee baaaack!

Yelp
Skip all other food options and go here! Their deli sandwiches are amazing and their fresh bread (we got the artichoke one) was still hot! They have lots of items to choose from. We picked up a few that sounded yummy. The staff were nice but the service you would expect from a touristy area. Will definitely be back when we are in the area again.

Yelp
We hadn't planned to drive to Pescadero this morning. We were headed to San Gregorio from the City. Trying to text a friend but no cell site. So we drove further south into the town. Let's grab a loaf of the artichoke garlic bread. Wait a minute. So much more bread inventory than we recalled. We spotted the pesto artichoke focaccia and chocolate milk bread both of which we've not had. We opted for those two. We can always grab the standard artichoke garlic loaf in HMB another time. We also spotted the pastries near the front door. Self service. We selected a cinnamon bun and a lemon scone. Everything was very fresh. The bread outstanding. So happy that our detour was worthwhile.

Yelp
Everyone raves about their garlic artichoke bread so I knew I had to make a pit stop here. Garlic Artichoke bread ($7.99) - it was still warm which was nice. It's huge and we struggled to finish it (3 people). There's bits of artichoke inside. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Aside from the artichoke bits, the bread was bland. I could not taste any garlic. I was disappointed to say the least.
