Archaeological Museum of La Serena

I took my son and he loved it. Make sure you don’t miss any areas as I almost missed the Moai. Staff were friendly. Admission is free

Very nice place to meet Moai come from Easter Island! Also the museum have remarkable potteries and others. Go to the museum and join the past. It’ free.

Highly recommended. The exhibition is truly informative and beautiful. Here you can learn everything about the early history of La Serena and the surrounding area. There's even a real Easter Island statue as a highlight.

Free museum that is worth a walk through of you have some time in La Serena.

It was a really small museum, only a small corridor and entrance! But the items were really interesting and mostly related to the hunting tools of ancient residents of chile! They had also a goid chronological illustration about the archeology of Chile.

This museum is currently closed and undergoing renovations. They have a small number of displays in the lobby, which you can visit for free.

At the time of my visit, some rooms in the Museum were being renovated and closed but, for the few I visited, the archeological items (potteries mostly) were spectacular and well lit with a nice museography, only there were too few. The entrance was free and the staff really friendly. So, in the end, this was quite a small museum but it was very much worth visiting. It took me less than twenty minutes to do it and I don't see any reason to skip it unless you are allergic to Museums.
