Yet another of these small museums located in lesser cities that have many treasures hidden within. Rethymnon is a beautiful city with heavy Venetian and Ottoman influences. We suggest visiting both the city and its archaeological museum. The museum has an excellent collection of Minoan artifacts.

A small but powerful look into the large collection of the Rethymno museum. The museum is temporarily housed in this impressive and well preserved building waiting for the new larger museum to be built in the near future. Until then you can browse through the collection’s highlights and get a concise reminder on the historical timeline of Crete’s culture.

Nice small local museum. Great to learn about the history of the area. Staff was kind and cashier informed us that under 25 get in free, which we were not aware of before coming. We also got free cards.

A small, one room museum with many interesting artifacts nicely on display. The entrance fee is very cheap (5€) and it has a little bit of everything. Takes roughly 30-45mins max to get through. I recommend checking it out if you’re in the area :)

This compact and well-kept museum is situated in the heart of Rethymno, and constitutes an oasis of calm among the throngs of tourists. The exhibits are fascinating and complemented by informative descriptions. Even representatives of the local feline community appeared interested! Staff members were impeccably polite and helpful. Dedicate an hour or two to visiting.

Beautiful antiquities well arranged for viewing. Most items are from Crete. Beautiful displays of marble statues, jewelry, tools, ceramics, frescos, and ancient bath tubs to name just some of the pieces on display. It’s well worth the visit. It only takes about 30-60 minutes to walk through depending on how much you want to read.

Very small but very interesting museum that covers a large portion of Cretan history

2€ well spent. This is a small but very nice museum that highlights the islands history with an emphasis on Minoan civilization and culture. Takes about 30 minutes if you read each placard. We were literally the only people there on a Monday afternoon in January. Recommend
