Archaeological Museum

Very nice museum, with interactive elements for kids. Not too big, with our kids we managed to see all in 1-1,5h. On Saturday entrance is free

Interesting museum holding the only Egyptians obelisk in Poland. It hosts five permanent exhibitions which deal with the archeological finds documenting life in Poland, but the most interesting to see artifacts are those discovered by teams of Polish archaeologists in Sudan and Egypt. These are all marked with English language tags and plenty of explanations, they look very modern, very well curated. The Polish stuff feels dated and it seems it comes from the Communist era. Also not all of it has English tags and explanations. It's free on Saturday

Very nice and small archaeological museum, based on Egyptian history and early Polish state. Early history of Poland is not covered enough and the main exibition is based on Egyptian history (and the early history of Sudan, during Egyptian rule) and artifacts that are in a museum's possesion. Also, there is an exibition of first human settlements in Poland followed by the migration of Slavs and subsequently formation of an early Polish state.

This has got to be one of my favourite archaeological museums ever. To be fair I have never been to an archaeological museum before this but I have been to museums with dedicated sections for archaeological artefacts and this museum in Poznan stood out. They didn't have a huge collection but they had a compact, well-curated collection with a well thought-out narrative. There were four divisions (permanent exhibitions) at the museum when I went there about three weeks ago- one was on the prehistory of the area of Poland, one was on Old Poland, one on Egyptian civilization (they had a really awesome collection of artefacts- not many but quite a few good ones) and artefacts from Sudan, explaining the Numibian civilizations. I forget the time period for the last one. Anyway, I hope this will be of help. Ticket was 10 Zloty if I am not mistaken but I think the price is on their website.

Very bad museum with no informative value. None of the exibits in the display about Polish history had any description - i was in shock that someone can lead a museum to such a miserable state. Visitor can only quess what they're looking at. Collection is also very small so the entrance fee is a steal. Also - there was no information about place of discovery of items and no dating. Absolute rubbish. The only descriptions I've spotted were in the rooms with African artefacts, but even there, the situation was confusing: descriptions were on a plaque outside of glass display case, but there were no numbers that would allow us to pair description with exibits. You had to guess what is what.

Wasn't interesting for me. Lots of kids, so it's very noisy. No one offered audioguide, though it was for free.

Not expensive, but the routes are messy, you don’t know where to start and where to go. It should be better organized.

Bad museum plagued with irrational choices. Exhibition begins with no information texts at all leaving you with wondering what are you looking at. Leaflets supposed to explain it - gone and not replaced, clearly fault of bad exhibition management. One exhibition is empty, one clearly about something else than what title says, that leaves two out of presumably five. One interesting exhibition, Egypt, needs love. Overall it's barely a museum, more a scam showing you two or three big things from Ancient Egypt and then charging you for a disappointment.
