Our stay at this pub hotel was ok. We booked it on a January deal and for the price was fine, but we couldn’t really see how this is a 4* hotel or how we would’ve felt had we paid full price.
We had the Classic double room which was an average hotel room, not bad but nothing fancy. The pictures on Booking certainly hyped it up and so we were a bit disappointed when first entered the room, as it was significantly smaller and less smartly decorated than we expected from the pictures. It was much smaller than expected but it had everything we needed. Heating was extremely hot on arrival but we adjusted it to a more comfortable level. The bed was comfortable and shower was good pressure. Bathroom looks a bit tired but acceptably clean. Again, not sure I would’ve been happy to pay more than what we did.
Also, had this been a busy night, we certainly would’ve been kept awake by the noise as it’s right on the courtyard, with tables only a few metres from our door. We had a late night ourselves so it didn’t matter much.
The pub itself was lovely and the restaurant was amazing. Portions were generous and food beautifully cooked, couldn’t fault it!
The staff were also great, attentive and kind, very responsive and welcoming, which made for a positive experience overall.
In summary, for an £85 a night stay for a weekend away it was a great place, not so sure if it’d been at full price of £130+ a night.
