Wow!!! This place is amazing. Located in Zona Romantica. Top notch service. We had Calamari, drunken noodles, and spicy Thai noodles (variation of pad Thai). Everything was phenomenal!!! Excellent flavors. The only thing I didn't like was the iced tea. But don't let that stop you, just order a cocktail instead which is what I should have done. This place has exceptional food and service and I cannot recommend it enough!! 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Google
An absolute treasure! The service was amazing but only to be surpassed by the food! Unique recipes I’m going to miss dearly when I head back to the US. The dishes shown are the almond chicken, the chicken satay, and the cucumber appetizer that I can’t remember the exact name of.

Google
The food was exceptional, great dishes with the best attention and a calm environment. We ordered the Res tongue and the Singapore chicken for main dishes. The tongue was cooked in a perfect state and the chicken was also pretty great. The unmissable is the lavender dream, now is one of my favorite desserts! At the end but not less important the service was incredible!

We have been wanting to try this the past few times we have come down. Finally we made it this trip and we are incredibly happy we did. Bigger than I thought I side. Great service, and food was fantastic. We shared 2 Apps (Lunpia & Calamari) and 1 dinner plate (Spicy beef & Broccoli). We will be back!

Wow! I used to live in Singapore and when I bit into the chicken satay, it was like I was back at Newton Circus. We also had the drunken noodles and coconut vegetable rice. It was all quite tasty. The staff was great. The service super. They are very pleasant. Can’t wait to go come back here. It’s a very nice ambience; as well. Very pleasant to sit in here. But if the fans are on and you don’t need them, feel free to ask them to them down.

Just got back from a delicous dinner. Although there was a wait for a table, it did not take too long. The service was so quick and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend.

Google
Food is pretty good, service is also good, atmosphere is nice. They need to watch the portions they serve especially to the same table. We were a group of 6 and 3 in our group coincidentally ordered the same dish, the curry fried rice with shrimps. The portion sizes were visible different. One plate was very copious the 2nd middle of the road and the third much less than the other 2. The person who got the smallest portion was visibly disappointed. Other than that we were happy with our meals and the triple chocolate brownie dessert was as usual, delicious! I'll l definitely go back.

Google
Me and a friend went in to enjoy dinner and decided to split the Alex Coco-Poblano soup and the Sizzling Fish in Banana leaves. The restaurant was kind enough to split and serve the food so all the photos are only half servings. So keep in mind you'll get twice as much! This is the first time we had chose either item from the menu and we were glad that we did. I made a lot of fish in my life and this was some of the best I've ever had. The blend of spices make it just perfect and I would recommend it to anyone!

Yelp
We were lucky enough to try the restaurant during restaurant week in PVR. Located right near the beach among others. Cute ambiance in the inside. Everything we had was good even the mojitos. A good reliable choice. Service was quick and attentive.

Yelp
Wanted to mix things up from the overload of tacos and Mexican food in PV and found this Asian fusion spot that had good reviews. We ordered the calamari, spicy fried noodles Thai style and curried vegetables with beef to share. The calamari had a nice light batter that was very crisp with tasty dipping sauces. The noodles were interesting, it's their version of pad Thai so it was made with soba noodles. I prefer the texture of rice noodles so this wasn't my favorite but it had a nice kick from the red curry paste. I enjoyed the curried vegetables which was green curry base and the beef was very tender with lots of fresh vegetables. Service was very attentive and friendly. There were quite a few fellow tourists dining as well. The waiter highly recommended the lime cheese pie which was quite good. I think I would've preferred the flan option but we wanted to mix it up as we had already had flan several nights already. Overall a pretty good meal esp if you're looking for options outside of Mexican.

Yelp
My niece, sister, and I stpped in for dinner here tonight. The food was delicious! The ambiance was lovely. The rice they used was not Jasmine, it was short grain, but it was okay. *** they have vegan options ***

Jon S.

Yelp
Wanting something different we decided to try Archie's Wok. I'm glad we did. There's ample indoor and outdoor seating here. Plus they take credit cards. We started with the calamari and for my husband a spicy shrimp soup. The calamari was perfect. I heard the soup was good too. I ordered the Spicy Thai Noodles with chicken and shrimp. It was so good. We also got a jug of limonade to share. For the desert I got the citrus cloud which was delicious. The service was great and the food amazing. This is a must go place for you in Puerto Vallarta.

Yelp

Yelp
Sunburned and just wiped out tired I chose to go the takeaway route and it proved a great way to go As I just walked in to give the order to I think the owner who was super nice and was able to get it right as I had five items . Didn't take long at all he handed me two nice easy to carry takeaway packages all nicely bagged and with extra rice and condiments Food was well prepared and most tasty The lime pie was melt in your mouth and full of flavor AW still as good as I remember from my last visit in 1992 Be sure to try if in PV Jim from Maplelag in Minnesota

Mandy L.

Yelp
We ate every single bite it was so delicious! Between my girlfriend who has dietary restrictions and her grandmother who doesn't like a whole lot of different foods both were able to find plenty of options.

TJ N.

Yelp
This was, by far, the best eating in all my experience in Puerto Vallarta. Incredible service, ambience, food and drink. From beginning to end - from the greeting by the reception lady to the dessert and servers, unbelievable. This is top of its class - and I've had a ton of pan-Asian food but with the Mexican and Filipino twist - Ooo La La! Do not miss this place when visiting! Everything was perfect, from the lightly breaded calamari (never had it this way), to each and every sauce which were savory, spice, sweet - total umami magical flavor experience. Two thumbs way up!

Travis G.

Yelp
It's an old standby for me when I visit Puerto Vallarta. Always consistent and great service.

RJ T.

Yelp
New to the area so it was interesting to see Archie's Wok as we walked by. I defiantly like the vibe- its cozy with a nice waterfall and good lighting for dinner Post sunset. We got: - Sweet and Sour Chicken - Lasagna - Pad Thai - Calamari To be honest, I loved the vinegar based calamari sauce. So good, a must get!

Yelp
After a week in Puerto Vallarta I was craving Chinese food. The only restaurant that popped up in Zona Romantica was Archie's Wok. It's been around since 1986 and that pre-dates their Asian-Fusion self-description. I usually avoid Asian fusion places, but since it was around the corner from my hotel, it was a quick dash over. Archie's was packed with a 1.5 hour wait so takeout was the only way I'd get tofu in this part of town. There are nice outdoor tables in front of the restaurant, with planter boxes, benches and trees separating diners from the street crowd. The interior is nicely adorned too, but with the crowd it looked tight. Photos of my takeout dishes do not do justice. The Vietnamese Sizzling Fish wrapped in Banana Leaves and grilled over charcoal was delicious with a fragrant, mildly spicy green lemongrass cilantro chili sauce. It wasn't sizzling at the hotel, but the leaves kept the local mahi-mahi very moist. You might be leaving hungry if this is your only entrée. The Chinese-influenced Broccoli and Tofu with Mushrooms stir fry was good and the black bean sauce with pronounced ginger taste was ok. White rice and four tiny condiment cups were also provided. My favorite was a cilantro onion lime mixture which I'm sure is a Mexican relish as it is also in other restaurants here. The to-go containers were great and everything made it safely back to the hotel. I got plastic forks, spoon and wooden chopsticks but no napkins. Prices have increased since the 2019 menu photos on Yelp, and the price range on their website is outdated with many dishes now over $300 MEX (such as the Sizzling Fish). My Chinese craving was mostly satisfied. Now back to Mexican food.

Carolyn J.

Yelp
This was a recommend from back home. Loved the outdoor seating and meeting the owner / Archie's widow. It was also our most expensive evening in PV and it just wasn't even close to the best. Had the chicken satay (simple but mostly sweet) had Cambodian beef curry (meh) and can't even remember the last dish --- it was just unmemorable. We came here excited for the history and a bit of Mexican meets SE Asian and just left feeling like we could've had mediocre Thai food in Seattle or Austin or LA and had the same. Nice outdoor seating.

FoodLover F.

Yelp
Ordered from the restaurant week menu Gazpacho good Papaya salad good Curry rice good Pablo crusted fish very tiny portion Flan Coconut ice cream Enjoyed it all ....partner's portion was much larger.... .... service was very good ..... place was empty at 5 pm on a Wednesday

Ed G.

Yelp
It's not easy finding a Chinese Restaurant in PV. But this was close to our hotel and we had fried rice with chicken and also a wonderful shrimp dish.

Butterfly N.

Yelp
Best food and cocktails in town! The steamed fish was really good. Excellent service. Lots of gluten free options

Derek R.

Yelp
The food was excellent. Archies has an interesting history of how it was started in the 60's. The ambiance was charming. Outside seating in front or outside seating in back for a little more privacy.Service was very good.

Yelp
Archie's Wok is well-located half a block from the beach on a side street in the Romantic Zone. I was sold on the story of Archie and how Archie's Wok came to be, and as a SE Asian growing up with the very flavors the menu was selling, I had higher expectations than most. So the two star review reflects a SE Asian's palate and the expectations that Archie's set. Food: We ordered a lot. Food was beautifully presented. Calamari had a light batter and was served with two dipping sauces - both light soys, but one sweetened with sugar and mirin - and a side of wasabi (presumably to add to the soy). Lumpia was pork and veggie, had zero crunch to the fried wrapper, and the flavors just weren't there. Green chicken curry had a good spicy heat, but the coconut gravy was a little too thick. Drunken noodles were decent with lots of seafood. Imperial Beef was a glorified broccoli beef. Singapore Shrimp... There was nothing Singapore about it. The sauce looked to be a sweet and sour, and it was neither sweet nor tangy. Shrimp were huge at least. And the biggest irk of all - the Yang Chow Fried Rice. I respect that it might be impossible to get peas in Mexico, but large chunks of celery is not a substitute because it's green. Same goes for zucchini. If it was just called a Fried Rice, I'd probably let this one slide. Aside from there being nothing Yang Chow about it, the celery and zucchini weren't diced up enough and it was missing salt and that wok hei. Service: Decent. Our waiter kept checking in on us. Cost: All the food noted, plus a sparkling water and two Cokes, ran us MXN$1837 / USD$90. This is before tip. Overall: Mostly indoor dining with a few tables dotted outside, plus the option for take away. I can see how the ambiance and location can win folks over. But for the price vs taste and portion size? Hard pass for me on this and future trips to PV.

Robin S.

Yelp
We called a day in advance to make a reservation, but we were told they don't take reservations. When we came the next day for dinner, there were tables available inside but they said they were reserved. No one sat at the tables the entire time we were there. Nonetheless, we had to sit out back in the heat on the slanted ground. That was very irritating. The food and service didn't make up for it either. Next!

Yelp
Wow, what a meal! This might be one of our favorite places to have dinner in PV. They have a little eating area outside on the sidewalk so it was easy to be covid-cautious, particularly important to us as we are traveling with out young daughter. Every single thing was ordered was amazing, from the cocktails all the way trough desert. Often we find the appetizers to be the highlight of the meal with the mains just okay, but here at Archies Wok every dish that came out was better that the previous one. Highly recommend and we can't wait to come back!

Samuel M.

Yelp
Fantastic food, drinks and service. The ambiance is very relaxed. The history behind the creation of this business is also astonishing! A must try!

Brian R.

Yelp
Just a little gem in the heart of PV. I know it's strange to get Asian food in Mexico, but it's a great place to go. The service was supreme. I had the spicy Thai noodles with chicken and it was the best thing I've eaten in PV!! They have a relish made from garlic, cilantro and more.... Best 'condiment' ever!!! Everyone on our party of six had something different and all were delightful.

Amanda H.

Yelp
Great service, wonderful food, very flavorful. Cambodian beef curry was amazing. BBQ pork riblets also bomb! Nice ambiance too, with a cute back patio and a great location right by the beach. A nice break from tacos, too.

Js S.

Yelp
I have no words to describe how good this food is all I can say is that it was fresh , flavorful, generous and so tasty. Would really completed this evening was the relaxing and beautiful atmosphere and not to mention the smooth retro jazz music that's created a certain feel good romantic energy loved it

Manuel A.

Yelp
Our favorite Asian place. We have to eat here at least once every trip. The food is good the service is good and the atmosphere is also good. Always a great variety of food choices.

Michael K.

Yelp
A really eclectic menu. Interesting combinations - all nicely done. Hoisin short ribs are a treat. As a starter the calami is very good - fresh with a tempura type of batter. Light, with a whisper of herb seasonings. The tables, like many in PV, are a bit cramped, but not uncomfortable. The menu covers are a fun element- hand colored by school age children. The servers were well informed on the menu items and answered questions candidly.

John W.

Yelp
We haven't eaten here in about 7-years. We always loved this restaurant but it has actually improved! Everything was wonderful. The food, particularly the Alex' Coco-Poblano soup, which was amazing & unique and the Spicy Fried Noodles, Thai style which the owner suggested we pair with the house cilantro sauce. Superb! The ambience is very nice and the staff, again, especially the owner, just go above and beyond. We will look forward to returning and I highly recommend this restaurant to anybody in the mood for amazing Asian-fusion cooking.

Sheree F.

Yelp
Overpriced with small portions. Service was nice. Would not return. Nice outdoor seating. Had the tofu with broccoli. Half portion and double price of other restaurants.

Thresia R.

Yelp
I can not begin to describe the service, positive energy, and fresh elegance I experienced at this local Restaurant. Archie's is amazing! The owner came to greet us we felt special he recommended drinks and a few dishes that turned out so amazing! We will return again and again . It's a gem in old town ! Not one to miss .

Rusty D.

Yelp
Solid, family run spot in old town. Building was great, courtyard feel! Good date spot

Vince N.

Yelp
Being of part Asian descent and from Hawaii, Asian cuisine is in my blood, literally! This being our fourth trip to PV, I've always wanted to try Archie's Wok but felt like I'd receive a subpar dish as we are in Mexico for crying out loud. Because my vacation was extended due to unforeseen circumstances, my craving for the orient was in high gear. BRIEF HISTORY: Archie was in fact a real person, moving to PV from California in 1976 and opening up his dream restaurant ten years later. He passed away in 1993. See my photo of the menu back for the entire story. ATMOSPHERE: This is a prime location as they're near the beach but on a side street that's closed to vehicular traffic which provides a peaceful, non-polluted dining experience. Choose from outdoor sidewalk seats, indoor, or backyard garden patio. MENU: Soups, salads, noodles, seafood, poultry, meats, vegetable & rice stir fry. FOOD: Yang-Chow Fried Rice - $8.00 USD What happened to the included proteins of chicken & shrimp? I actually received the vegetable fried rice dish but paid for the pricier Yang-Chow version. Inside were just bean sprouts, a single broccoli, carrots, celery, zucchini, green & white onions. I did takeout so I wasn't able to voice my concern as I was quite far from the restaurant when I dug in. Taste wise it was bland but I did make use of one of the three sauces that was packed up neatly which was a shoyu-based sauce that added bold savory ness. The other two sauces were useless - an orange Tabasco-flavor and a spicy cilantro pesto. Had there been no shoyu sauce, I'd sum it up as a gussied up Panda Express recipe. SERVICE: They don't open until 2:00pm. I got there at 1:45pm and was the only one waiting. By the time they opened at 2:05pm, the crowd grew to around 15 people. We all shuffled in and I proceeded with my takeout order. The server and cashier were both friendly and professional. I left with food-in-hand about 15 minutes later. TIP: When doing takeout in PV, you need to ask for utensils. Not one of the 5+ places I went to had them included. OVERALL: My Asian food craving was partially fulfilled. I'm hopeful that the missing proteins were an honest mistake, but it turned out to be a costly one in terms of star rating for them and a return from me.

Steve S.

Yelp
Was recommended by a friend and the place looks great. Beautiful patio and good location. Hence 2 stars. But the food was underwhelming and the prices, for Vallarta, are very high for what you get. I ordered the rib dinner for 350 peso and when the food arrived it looked like an appetizer portion. My partner had a chicken dish with a few pieces of chicken. One of the most expensive dinners we had for the week and left hungry. Overpriced for what you get. We will not go back.

Greg H.

Yelp
Okay. Two stars for the beautiful atmosphere and the calming Asian vibe. And a very nice presentation with the delivery of food. Highly recommended by friends here, and I see a lot of 5-star reviews. We were seated promptly and our food arrived without delay. We had an appetizer and 2 dinners to share. We both just weren't impressed. Our dishes were a bit tasteless. Perhaps we didn't order the best items. I asked our waiter for suggestions, and he replied, Everything is good. He didn't have any patience for my indecision, nor was he helpful. We ordered 2 of the pricier items, so we were expecting, well ... just tasty food, and a bit of a "wow" factor. We've had much better Asian food in the States at our local strip-mall. Maybe we should've had a couple good drinks beforehand. We were just there to enjoy a nice dinner. It just didn't stack up for us. And, we felt it was overpriced for what we got.

Brian H.

Yelp
Still great after all these years. Mushroom Rolls ! Yum ! Sweet and Sour Chicken Pad Thai Noodle Bottle of wine $65. Awesome service Great atmosphere Must go

Rick R.

Yelp
Archie's walk is a long time favorite of ours in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It's located in the Zona Romantica near the public pier, south side of town. The food, ambiance and service are all excellent! As the name implies it's an Asian style menu with an abundance of choices of seafood, other meat dishes and lots of veggies! Good for carnivores, omnivores and herbivores. My mouth waters just thinking about how good it is! Has full bar too. Unfortunately they don't take reservations. Be ready for a real gourmet meal! Bon appétit!

Gary R B.

Yelp
Always Top Notch. Been in my top 5 for years. Cindy and family have carried on husband Archie's legacy. He was the private chef of John Huston. Asian hints since he had some Filipino blood. Check out the desserts.

Alyssa A.

Yelp
Drunken noodle with seafood - not what I expected. Kind of fishy tasting, I think they used too much fish sauce. Pork ribs - good, but nothing amazing. Could use a vegetable side to come along with it. Egg Rolls - just okay. The sauces were good but i wish they were crispier. We got the pork and vegetable one. If you want an egg roll fix this will satisfy, but average flavor overall. Honestly based off the reviews for this restaurant I think they probably have great food. I saw lots of big healing plates and great smelling dishes around us. However my husband is allergic to cilantro so our options were limited in what we could choose and we just happened to choose the wrong things. It's nicely air conditioned and the service was good. I saw some curries and fried rice dishes that you might have better luck with. Atmosphere is nice. Could be a romantic dinner spot.

J L.

Yelp
Had the most amazing steak dish here. Mix of Thai and Philippine cuisine and everybody enjoyed their meals. Service was spot on and owner was there making sure it all was perfect. Best meal of the trip so far.

Desiree B.

Yelp
Love open air eating!! Great food, nice atmosphere. Wanted to try more. Definitely will be back. Food was fresh and aromatic. Everything was so tasty. Great place to people watch and enjoy the music.

Jo S.

Yelp
When I opened my Yelp account years ago, I placed Archie's Wok, the Asian Fusion restaurant located in Banderas Bay, Puerto Vallarta area as one of my most memorable meals. It still is, deep in my heart and memories. Every visit to Puerta Vallarta, Archies Wok is a must go place for us. I never take photos because the experience is that immersive. The restaurant was created by the personal chef of famous director John Huston when he shot " The Night of the Iguana" in the area. We met his grandchildren when we dined here once, lovely people who went to college in California. The decor is very nice, elegant, you're all of a sudden in a different world. They were playing nice background music, making the evening more memorable. We asked the owners and they told us they were playing Rasa, a cool duet whose music we discovered this way (back in LA, got their albums at Amoeba's). The food was wonderful also, hard to describe in words, the lumpia was fresh and light, so was the chicken satay for starters. You can't go wrong here with their noodles or curries. I love their Drunken Noodles, their version is seafood oriented, a twist on the classic dish. My husband likes their Spicy Noodles, their version of Pad Thai. If you like the dish but want something a bit different, don't hesitate. Seafood is great and fresh here. I enjoy the drinks, the cocktails are memorable. If you happen to be in PV during Restaurant week, it's even better, they create special menu-s and you can get a better deal. The place isn't cheap but when you're on vacation, you can splurge. It's worth it. In times like these, I surely don't regret splurging. It's a cool experience. I try to re-live and remember it in details while I write this review. Places like Archies Wok and the memories you have from it help you escape nowadays and and want/hope to be able to revisit again and have that kinda of memorable meal again!

Michael M.

Yelp
Great food. Loved the outside atmosphere created by the tropical plants. A solid option for anyone staying in Zona Romantica. It was a quick walked from out condo.

Dean K.

Yelp
This trip was my 4th visit to P.A. and it is never complete without a visit to Archie's Wok! Great vibe, great service, great FOOD! Calamari, Shrimp Poblano soup, Garlic Shrimp and Curry Rice did the trick this time!

Q B.

Yelp
The interior of the restaurant is nice and service was great. The cocktails were delicious. However, as someone who grew up in Asia I cannot recommend the food here. I'm not sure what I ate - the spring roll was flavorless, the Yang chow fried rice was plain (I'm actually from the city where this dish is originated but this is still pretty bad for just regular fried rice), the Singapore chicken was a joke. I mean I appreciated the effort and that this is Asian fusion so I didn't have high expectations to begin with, but I just don't consider this remotely close to authentic Asian food. They really need to reconsider the seasoning in their dishes.

Jordan R.

Yelp
2/5 food 3/5 service 2/5 price Overall an underwhelming experience, especially on what seemed to be a good variety of Asian food, the ingredients and flavors did not deliver. The drink (Mint Rain) I had wasn't fully blended. Lumpia was more of crispy Thai spring roll than any lumpia I have tried. Cashew chicken was a tad salty. Thai Garlic Shrimp was pretty decent but the most overpriced serving-wise. Cambodian Beef Curry was chewy and had more eggplant than actual beef but the sauce was tasty. MX$1,440 for two isn't astronomically high, but I would expect the food to match the price regardless of the serving amount. I would be open to trying this place again but for now, I can not recommend this place.

Gloria S.

Yelp
They serve a variety of Asian dishes including Filipino, Thai and Chinese items. They also have vegetarian options. I've tried the vegetarian spring rolls, green curry with chicken (during my last visit the chicken was hard so I suggest trying it with shrimp or tofu), pancit with shrimp, and fried calamari. All were tasty. Prices are higher at this restaurant. For two dishes you can easily spend MXN $600 to MXN $700. They do have a nice ambiance. Great place to go for a nice dinner with a group of friends.

L G.

Yelp
Loved the food and the atmosphere. Very attentive crew. Will return.

Mark H.

Yelp
Great food. The cashew chicken is the best I've ever had. Great service. Small in size but clean with white linen tablecloths.

Mister F.

Yelp
Yummy yummy yummy. The greasiest clean and fresh Asian food in Pv! I can't wait to return and make it a tradition every time we are in town.

Alex D.

Yelp
What a cute little place in the right location! We had 2 servings of the Yang-Chow Fried Rice - it was a bit bland, but they gave you plenty of sauces at the table to spice it up your way, and the shrimp and veg inside were great! Hit the spot. And we can't forget about the Pina Colada's- they were divine, surely recommend after a long day of walking Zona Romantica! We'll be back!

Michele C.

Yelp
Whether you're tired of Mexican food or not, this food is legit. We've been coming to PV for years now. Not sure why it took us so long to come here. Everything we had was delicious. The lumpia egg rolls and ginger stir fry vegetables were my favorite. Definitely will be back next time we are in town.

M S.

Yelp
Nice to know when you're actually open for business. We did not eat here only due to driving 20 minutes from the Marina area. Place was closed when we arrived. It was Saturday night at around 4 Pm. If your going to stay in business it would be nice of you to update your actual open hours and days
