We recently stayed at Archipelago Carita and overall had a pleasant and relaxing experience. The staff were truly wonderful—friendly, accommodating, and always doing their best to provide what we needed. Their warm hospitality made us feel very welcome.
We stayed in the “Toraja” villa, which has a unique, traditional design. It’s perfect for those who want an authentic Indonesian-style stay. However, due to the open-air layout and large gaps between the windows and the walls, mosquitoes were a big issue. We were bitten quite a lot, so we recommend bringing mosquito spray or asking for extra mosquito nets.
The swimming pool was enjoyable during the day—clean and inviting. At night, though, some of the pool lights weren’t working, making it a bit dark around the area. We suggest adding better lighting and possibly a rescue float near the pool or beach area, just in case. The surrounding tiles can also get slippery, so guests should watch their step, especially in the evening.
The grounds were well maintained, with staff cleaning twice daily—morning and afternoon. They did a great job sweeping leaves and keeping the walkways tidy. That said, during low tide, we noticed some trash washed up on the beach, including a few unpleasant items like used diapers. Unfortunately, it stayed there until the next scheduled cleaning. A quick check during low tide could really help maintain the beach’s natural beauty.
One additional note about hygiene: due to the humidity, we noticed that some of the garbage bins—especially the one in the upstairs bathroom—were damaged and starting to develop mold or mushrooms. While they did line the bins with plastic, the bin itself had lost its bottom part. For health and hygiene reasons, it might be a good idea to replace these with plastic garbage bins, especially in bathrooms where moisture builds up.
Overall, this is a lovely spot for a peaceful 1–2 day getaway. It’s quiet, scenic, and great for relaxing. For longer stays, it might feel a bit limited unless you plan extra activities, but we appreciated the effort of the staff and the natural setting. With a few improvements, it could be even better!
