Archway Motels & Chalets

I stayed one night at Archway Motels & Chalets in Wanaka and really enjoyed my time there. The room was spotless and felt welcoming, and the check-in and check-out process couldn’t have been easier. I also really appreciated having parking available right there — very convenient after a long drive! The location is perfect too. It’s only a short walk to the lake, which made it easy to enjoy the beautiful Wanaka views and go for a peaceful stroll in the morning. Overall, it was a comfortable, quiet, and relaxing stay. I’d definitely choose this place again next time I’m in town. Highly recommended!

We stayed at Archway Motels and Chalets in Wanaka and absolutely loved it! ❤️ I called on the noon of check-in to ask about a late-night arrival, and they were super accommodating. I was sent clear, easy-to-follow instructions on how to check in after hours. I hadn’t even paid yet (booked via Agoda), but they still went ahead and allotted us a room - no questions asked. The location was perfect too with restaurants, supermarkets, and lovely walking spots all within easy reach. We checked in around 8pm (reception closes at 8:30pm) and were greeted by Jacqui, the receptionist, who was one of the sweetest, kindest, and most helpful people we’ve met on our trip. She happily chatted with us, shared great local recommendations on where to eat and explore, and was just as warm the next morning when we left. She even told us we could use a parking spot on-site if we wanted to wander around before heading off. Our room was part of the new building and it was awesome: clean, cozy, with a comfy bed and pillows, a modern bathroom, and great facilities overall. We wish we could’ve stayed longer, but we were off to Queenstown the next day. Highly, highly recommended. Perfect combo of location, comfort, and genuine hospitality! 😊

We had a very pleasant experience at Archway hotel. We had two rooms in the new part of the complex. They were very clean and well appointed. The beds were comfortable and the shower very good. The manager was very helpful as we had a small mixup with room selection however he fixed the problem quickly and was extremely helpful and made us feel welcome. I would recommend this motel as it is very central and just a short walk down to the lake front and the bars and restaurants. We loved our stay in Wanaka.

Very sweet Manager who upgraded us to their new High quality Chalets (only 2 months old) King bed and balcony with mountain view. A lovely quiet spot within walking distance to town. Would be my first choice for accommodation in Wanaka.

We stayed at Archway Motels & Chalets in November 2025 for two nights. The location was great—just a 5–10 minute walk to downtown Wanaka and the lakefront—and having free parking right in front of our room was convenient.||We stayed in one of the newer rooms, which was fine overall, but several issues made our stay less enjoyable.||We were on the second floor, and since there’s no elevator, it’s not ideal if you have heavy luggage or mobility concerns.||Once inside, we immediately noticed nearly a dozen smushed bugs on the ceiling that looked like mosquitoes. We weren't sure how those were missed in the transition from the previous guest to us, but it wasn’t a great first impression and made the room feel unclean from the start.||The kitchenette was handy and had a microwave and stovetop, but the vent above the stovetop was coated in thick grease and gave off a strong smell that reminded us of old McDonald’s fries.||We tried cleaning it ourselves, but the buildup was so bad that it didn’t help much.||In the end, we removed the vent cover and left it outside for the rest of our stay, which (thankfully) got rid of the odor.||The bathroom design was also frustrating. The shower door didn’t seal properly, so water spilled onto the floor every time we used it, soaking the towel we used as a mat. It never dried during our stay.||Lastly, the room only had three pillows for the two of us, so we had to ask the front desk for more. And there was no deadbolt on the door, which made us feel a bit uneasy.||We were thankful to have a place to rest and use as our base to explore Wanaka, but the cleanliness and maintenance issues really stood out. If the property can address those problems, it could be a much more comfortable and welcoming place to stay.

Good location, clean and ample parking. They have a little play area for your kids too. We enjoyed the netflix, very few motels offer that.

The rooms, especially the larger chalets are dated and in need of an upgrade. The service is good. Location is astounding. Overall, I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for a strategically located & comfortable accommodation in Wanaka

I had a wonderful stay there, will definitely go back if I visit the town again. Very nice and warm welcome hospitality. During the check-in proactively provide useful information for the guests. Parking just right in front of the unit, very convenient. Only a few mins drive to supermarket and the famous tree in town!Very clean and tidy of the unit, with well equipped lKitchen facilities. Like the shower with very hot water for winter. The hot spa at the top of the road near reception would be good to try when there is still day light, coz a bit too dark and cold at night unless having a few people going together chit chatting and watching stars? That could be a bit romantic too?
