Can’t beat the excellent location in the heart of Santa Elena, within walking distance of several restaurants (but be in decent shape, it’s on a hill). The beautiful landscaping and nearby wildlife, including monkeys we spotted from our room one morning, add to its charm. The staff are warm and welcoming, the complimentary breakfast is satisfactory. However, we were disappointed with our room. The shower seems to use a tankless water heater so you get scalding hot or very cold temperatures. We seemed to be downwind of a septic system because we would smell sewage, especially in the evenings. And since there is no air conditioning, you suffer more if you close the windows. Additionally, the central location means you hear noise from cars and street traffic at night, so earplugs are a must. Lastly, there were so many bugs (including moths, centipedes, spiders, and beetles) that crept in daily. Proper weatherstripping or sealant around doors, windows, and screens could make a big difference.
