A ‘Frozen’-Inspired Family Vacation With Reindeer, Saunas, and Northern Lights

The hotel is amazing! We slept in one of the igloos, the first night we saw the northern lights and it was a beautiful sight. Breakfast is very good and very complete. However, at lunchtime the menu is quite short and the food is rather basic, but for one or two days it's great. I recommend it!

It was a beautiful experience, I was really impressed with how they are building and rebuilding the hotel every winter season, it takes a lot of work and love! The tour was great, we saw all the rooms and suites, as well as the chapel where they usually held intimate weddings. The restaurant is quite spacious, our three-course dinner was fantastic. I had mushroom soup for starter, salmon for main course, and Berries pavlova for desert. We upgraded the experience with a drink at the Ice bar! So cool!||I truly recommend visiting and experiencing this hotel. The food was great! I wish I had more time because their ice sauna experience sounds exciting, too.

We stayed for 1 night in a glass igloo on the 25th of February. We were given number 32. The igloo is small, we didn’t have luggage as we only took a night stop kit as left our luggage at our main hotel, if you have suitcases you will struggle for space. We found the room very warm (and I like it warm!) but you cannot control the heating as it is centrally controlled. It was only zero degrees outside so that maybe the reason as was unseasonably warm for that time of year. The room has a small fridge, kettle, and hair dryer. We paid extra for the dressing gown, slippers, drinks, and snacks which is not worth the cost. The dressing gowns were old and hard and the slippers cheap, we thought they would be luxurious. Take your own drinks and snacks as you have a fridge to use for storage. We had dinner in the Kota restaurant which was nice, and they were able to accommodate my gluten and dairy free requirements. There were no northern lights during our stay (or the whole week we were in Rovaniemi). The beds are 2 small single beds which are not together, as they can be adjusted for sitting up if the lights were to appear. Breakfast was included, when I asked for gluten free bread, they said they didn’t have any, luckily the chef found some otherwise breakfast would have been very limited as they didn’t have any dairy free yoghurts either. During our stay we did a tour of the Ice Hotel (highly recommend) and Ice sculpting (fun, but we were useless at it!). All in all, would recommend an igloo for 1 night but would not want to have stayed longer than that.

Spent a night in the ice hotel. Freezer rooms, sleeping bed with sizes are provided. Shared restroom and changing rooms inside the facility. There’s an ice sauna, outdoor jacuzzi and ice restaurant! Like literally tables and chairs are made of ice. And an ice chapel if you want a very unique destination wedding!

Stayed here 1 night and it was enough. While the igloos are different, they seem to be an "after thought". Dumped in the middle of a driveway where car/truck lights continued to disrupt seeing the lights. The igloos are good, but mind your head as the door is very very small getting in! The bed is comfy and warm, bathroom good size. You get 25 minutes of hot water at a time. This is plenty for two. Just be aware using the bathroom anyone walking past can see reflections on the roof. Don't have lights on in twilight getting dressed. Others can see you, at least the top half.||Walked through the ice hotel and was amazed at how they have made these rooms, restaurant and chapel from ice only. It was amazing to see them cutting the ice from the frozen lake to store for the next year. Glad not to have spent the night in those rooms, it was freezing.||Restaurant for dinner was nice, breakfast was basic but ok. Apart from the tubing there isnt really much else to do here. Staff were a hit and mix with attitudes. There is a small shelter with ability to have a fire. Luckily we arrived mid afternoon.||We did see the lights but much better standing outside the igloos as the inside give a really distorted sense and colour is not good when taking photos from the bed.||This was a one off novelty and if that's what your after, a novelty, then we recommend it.

Absolutely gorgeous Hotel with an amazing experience. The glass igloos are unique! Laying on the bed and seeing the northern lights was one of our highlights. Staying in a snow igloo is definitely an experience worth it and no, you are not freezing! We had an amazing stay and say Thank you!

A wonderful and unique experience. The tour was interesting and allowed us to view the spectacular rooms (although I don’t know if I’d be brave enough to spend the night in the subzero temperatures!). Dinner was great but you have to eat quickly before your food gets cold! We also enjoyed our drinks in ice glasses and ‘throwing them away’ once finished. The sauna/ jacuzzi experience was a once in a lifetime treat.

The Arctic SnowHotel and Ice Restaurant in Finland is a truly unique and unforgettable experience. The Ice Restaurant impresses with its intricate ice architecture, stunning details, and magical atmosphere. The food, especially the elk and salmon, was delicious, and the service was excellent. Highly recommended for a one-of-a-kind dining experience! The SnowHotel itself is equally impressive, with each ice room featuring a unique design. The entire complex is beautifully crafted and family-friendly, making it a great destination for all ages. A must-visit for those seeking a magical Arctic adventure!

Yelp
The igloo itself is cute and had more space than we expected. The beds have the option to raise the head and the feet like hospitals beds. The bathroom was small but good enough. The hot water lasted well enough for 2 showers. There's an Aurora alarm that we kept on. Not sure if it works though since there were no northern lights during our time there. Breakfast was good. We ate at the Ice Hotel as part of the experience. It was fun as the dessert dish was made of ice. The food was just so so and I think the 3 course meal was 69 euros with pretty small portions. Our package also included a drink in a glass shot glass at the Ice Bar. Throwing the glass against the wall after drinking was fun. We also added the private Finnish spa to our package and this included a hot sauna - very hot, ice sauna- basically hot sauna with ice walls and benches, and an outdoor hot tub. The hot tub was only set to 37 degrees max so it wasn't nearly hot enough. The private option also included a shower room and free drink (grapefruit soda). The whole experience was good but not something I would do again. I wasn't expecting much in terms of service but I was surprised. The igloo roof is made of glass and they were all covered with snow during our 2 days there. The main reason for paying to stay here is to be able to look out the glass ceilings. There was no attempt to remove the snow off the glass during our 2 days there. There was quite a lot of snowfall while we were there but the snow plows didn't come out until nearly 11 am, which means we had to hike through the snow to get to breakfast and then again with our luggage to check out. There is a shuttle that picked us up from Santa Claus Village which is available for a fee or as part of a package like ours. The driver just opened the luggage compartment under the bus and went back to his seat. No attempts at all to assist. This was the same for when we arrived. There is no luggage delivery service available at the hotel, not even a paid option. Some of the igloos are far from reception so you have to drag your luggage through the snow in the dark. The first morning we were unable to open our door and had to text our friend in the igloo next door to go ask reception. They sent a maintenance person to break off the ice around our door. We found that if we kicked the door it would break the ice and open. There is no phone in the room and no one at reception after hours, only an emergency number to call. I can't imagine what would happen during emergencies. I am not usually particular about service and I also understand that Finland customer service is different (nonexistent) but considering how much it costs to stay here, I think they should do better in this area. At minimum, the igloo glass ceilings should be routinely swept off so we can see outside. It's motel service at the price of a 5 star hotel. I should mention that the customer service via email prior to arrival was great. Too bad this ends when you're handed your room card. I don't regret coming here for the experience but wouldn't do it again and would recommend staying one night only. Santa Claus Village nearby has better accommodations for cheaper, excellent service, and better food options.

Yelp
We just spent the day at the Arctic Snow Hotel. We did the sauna package with sparkling wine. The day included a tour of the ice hotel. First of all, the hotel is amazing! We were able to tour 90% of the rooms. The art in the rooms and in the halls was spectacular! I was so impressed and happy I could see them in person. Would I come back to stay? No way! At a whopping -5°C and no toilets nearby there is no way I would take it on. However, the day/sauna experience I would do again and again. We were picked up from our hotel near Snowman World and whisked to the Snow Hotel. After our tour, we enjoyed a pre-paid ice drink in the ice bar. We the headed to the lobby to warm up with a warm berry drink and cookies. When our sauna time came up we met with a guide who gave us directions. We had a private changing room that had towels, robes, slippers and a private sauna. From there we trekked to the private ice sauna. It was cold when we went in, but got warmer and warmer as we poured water on to the coals. It was a cool experience. We were only allowed to stay for ten minutes, but that was the perfect amount of time. We the went upstairs to our private hot tub. Our Sauna guide brought us a prepaid bottle of bubbly to enjoy. We honestly got so cold in the hotel that the saunas and hot tubs were the perfect way to go. After our one and a half hour sauna/hot tub experience, we had an hour before the bus left. We took the time to cool off with sledding and playing on the ice. Our time here was amazing! If you are thinking about booking, just do it!

Yelp
We went to our honeymoon here a year ago. It was a once in a lifetime kind of experience to be in Lapland and to sleep under the stars in a sophisticated glass igloo. It's pricey and sadly the two days we were there was too cloudy to see any northern lights but we would love to come back to give our luck another shot. Our stay was excellent. We did a few resort activities. Would recommend the dog sled ride for sure! Their in house breakfast is a good example of what a traditional Finnish meal is like complete with picked fish and things like that. A good variety of "American/English" stuff too so you won't be hungry even if you didn't like the fishy things.

Yelp
It's true, its fab, mad and fun. Two hours of daylight today, 1 night is all you need in the ice bedroom. Leave your bags in the bunker, grab a sleeping bag and pillow and off you go. Be sure to book your ice restaurant dinner and private hot tub in advance. Sure it's all expensive but a once only thing. Walk on the frozen lake, ice fish and wait for the crew to wake you up for the aurora. Bring some cards or something to amuse you for the downtime. The ice bar is open for two hours fun - $10 euros a shot. Yes even with the proper clothing it still get's cold, do not show up without good boots, ski pants etc.
