Absolute must for a nice dinner, the cauliflower entree was my favorite! Service and food were fantastic. I dined by myself and felt right at home! Be sure to make a reservation, they were fully booked when I went and I saw many turned away at the door. (Gluten free friendly too)

🌍 Explore, Taste, and Travel with Us! Follow our adventures and food journeys on Insta: vibrant_wanderer_rhythm Nessa & Brian both Excellent at their service. Wishing you lots of luck. They went beyond , it was clear that the team was focused to give a great experience to the guests. The food , in one word DELICIOUS Loved the Irish coffee prepared with baileys . Thing to note , the hot whiskey we paid 5-6 EUROS in other restaurants but here it was a whooping double the price. Would suggest to check the prices of the drinks if ordering some thing outside the stated menu. Rest enjoy your meal. Highly recommend the restaurant

We’re big fans of Ard Bia any time we’re in Galway. The trout for brunch was a real highlight, the eggs maybe could be presented a bit more creatively but still very tasty. Great to see Irish cooking, ingredients and hospitality thriving

This restaurant has a super charming, artsy atmosphere. The service is incredibly warm and friendly, making you feel right at home. It's definitely a popular spot. Near the Spanish Arch.

An amazing dinner to celebrate our 7-year anniversary. We got an amazing table with a harbor view which was very kind. The staff is attentive and professional while also bringing a personal vibe. Kudos! Our dinner was superb, we both had the ribeye steak which was perfectly cooked. Amazing crust and medium rare as we requested. Paired super well with the rösti and mushrooms + kale. For dessert, we had the roasted peaches and sesame icecream and lemon posset, both amazing as well! No nitpicks even, honestly amazing.

Absolutely loved this place! The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food is amazing, fresh, delicious, and full of flavour. A must-visit spot in Galway. Highly recommended!

Love this place. Couldn’t recommend it more. Went there for brunch with my family on Saturday and we loved it so much we said we would go again. I got the smoked trout eggs Benedict both times because it was so good. Staff are so lovely, efficient, and friendly too! Definitely a staple for every future time I visit Galway.

everyone was so friendly, so accommodating. Our first meal coming from the Dublin Airport straight to Galway so it helps when the service is good and the food is wonderful! Thank you

Yelp
As a single woman traveler how I am treated at restaurants means a lot to me also having worked in the food industry for 15 years I know what is possible. Ard Bia went above and beyond in both these categories I was given an amazing seat even though I was a solo traveler, given amazing service and WOW the food was astounding. Also I was sitting by the kitchen window watching how well the front and back of staff interacted with each other, full respect on both sides even during the rush. Highly recommend and thank you for such a great experience by far the best I have had in Ireland.

Yelp
Definitely recommend! The location is right on the water and the atmosphere is very quaint. We went on a walk before it opened and there were already people waiting for it, by the time we went at 11 we had to wait about 10 minutes--it went quicker than expected for sure and it was definitely worth the wait. We have struggled to find amazing food in Ireland, this was one of our best meals. My parents both got the beef birria eggs. Sooo good! The chipotle hollandaise had a nice kick. I got the ham hock hash and it was also yummy! It came with toast and butter and I put it all together. My brother got the French toast with apple and Chantilly cream--OMG. One of the best things I've ever tasted. Definitely sweet and I'm not huge on sweets for breakfast, but we ended up splitting and it was perfect. I got a dirty chai and my mom got a matcha, I wasn't wowed but they were nice!

Yelp
Love this place. We got lucky and walked in for late lunch with little wait but it can get pretty busy. Dinner you almost have to have a reservation. The place has character. The drawers on the tables are full of notes from prior patrons. The food was so good. The french toast with peaches and mascarpone. The bread was so soft it almost melted in your mouth. The eggplant vegetarian dish was also quite good. The spiced beef was like korean kalbi-jjim with international twist, on a pita with leafy greans and other veggies. The kimchi pancakes were also delicious. Hot chocolate was pure chocolate but not too thick. Would love to go back.

Yelp
A charming place right on the river. We were seated next to a window that had a gorgeous view. Our waitress was super sweet and had great suggestions. The wine choices were are wonderful. All the food is delicious, the mussels was one of my favorite parts! I highly recommend!

Yelp
Landed in Shannon, Ireland took a cab to our AirBnB. Rested and immediately went for breakfast. We were very excited with our first stop in Galway. Such a quaint delightful little spot! Go early for the best seat in the house, we had breakfast and began trying to find the best date to return for dinner. Reservations are highly recommended for dinner. Service was spot on for both breakfast and dinner. Loved, loved, loved the ambiance. Waitstaff were friendly and helpful. Great food, nice selection for those with dietary restrictions, a huge plus they have, coffee, tea, AND wine! Yes, yes and yes.

Yelp
Last month my husband and I (both seniors) dined at Ard Bia at Nimmos in Galway while on our two-week Ireland trip. I had researched extensively what previous travelers had deemed as an elevated dining experience and made reservations at Ard Bia. Although the restaurant appealed to our choice of a cozy restaurant by water, the food was disappointing and service inexcusable. The green salad we split was literally swimming in dressing, thereby, masking the flavors of its ingredients. We had been seated relatively close to the kitchen, and I faced the kitchen, along with the window where the sous chef was plating the meals. I noticed that although he had a beard, it was not covered by any sort of netting material and mentioned that fact to my husband. My husband's pork chop was served off the bone, but the bare bone was laid on the top of the food on his plate as a garnish, in my estimation, for no apparent reason. The bone was ready to give to a dog, but my husband was served it! My ribeye steak was ordered "medium," but was received overdone as "medium well." The flavor was good, but once I got to the plated mushroom, I could clearly see a beard hair (!) laying on top of the mushroom. I picked it up and called over our server, who promptly dismissed my concern, stating it was part of a vegetable. I know a beard hair when I see it, and this was a beard hair, not a fragment of vegetable. Meanwhile, while I was eating, there was a lull in the kitchen area, at which time I observed the sous chef reach up with his right hand, wipe the sweat from his forehead, then stood with that hand in his left armpit as he leaned against a counter and visited with the head chef briefly. Next thing he did was start to plate another plate. There was no hand washing after wiping his forehead and putting his hand in his armpit. Keep in mind that this sous chef was not wearing gloves. It was disgusting to observe. I expected so much better for spending 115 Euros! Better up your game, Ard Bia at Nimmos, or your diners will go elsewhere.

Yelp
Over ten years and two visits I've heard so many "Irish cuisine is improving//hot/bit what you think" and my experience has largely been... is it though? So I was extra happy--relieved almost--when this spot just blew me away. Every bite of the lunch we shared was delightful--from the savory white bean soup to the fresh, crisp, goat cheese salad with a delightful, lick-it-off the plate lemony dressing to the succulent grilled cod topped with acres of shaved fennel on top of fresh green beans and some of the simplest but most delightful roasted potatoes I've ever tasted. Charming, rustic interior space right near the river. It was a bit of a wait (no reservations for lunch) but completely worth it. My only regret is that our time in Galway only allowed us lunch here and didn't coincide with a day we could make reservations for their tasting menu dinner.

Yelp
We were so excited to dine for breakfast at this wonderful Resturant. We have the cook book and wanted to experience the Resturant in person. The Resturant it self is beautiful located just within the Spanish arches. The atmosphere was inviting and very friendly. The food was so delicious. We had pancakes with a variety of berries poached eggs with Salmon and with bacon. Yum Yum Yum Irish white and red pudding were devoured by our group. So happy to be nourished by this fabulous Resturant.

Yelp
Hand down our best dinner during our trip in all of Ireland! First off, the inside of the restaurant is beautiful and so cozy! It feels like you are having dinner inside a small cottage on the country side of Ireland. We were seated in a private cozy booth which was perfect. The waiting staff was great! Very attentive and extremely friendly. And THE FOOD WAS TO DIE FOR! The mussels were delicious. The bread in that broth was perfect. The fish was so fresh and the best seafood we had the entire trip and dessert was tasty, light and the perfect ending. Do yourself a favor and come here for dinner!

Yelp
This was an amazing dinner! Very cute restaurant overall, but everything from the starter to the entrees was mouth watering. Would recommend for anyone visiting Galway to make a reservation here and give it a try. I had the ribeye, which was fantastic! Husband ordered the Sole and it was just as good. The service was top notch as well.

Yelp
Ard Bia is located behind the Spanish Arch, so part of the fun is locating the eatery and appreciating the charm of the remarkable grey granite building it occupies. Once one passes through the striking red door, the feeling is best described as entering an upscale sort of cozy. The ambiance serves as a palatable appetizer, though the bread for the table is scrumptious. I went with the ribeye that is accompanied by the best asparagus I have ever tasted, garlic gratin (such a delicious, interesting layered situation), chimichurri butter and crispy onions. My husband went with the Andarl pork chop which was accentuated with a peppercorn sauce and potato, romanesco and pan choi. We are not really wine drinkers, but they did have an excellent wine list. Beer was our beverage of choice, and we enjoyed their local offerings. The dining experience here was top-notch, and we were grateful to have had the opportunity to experience Ard Bia.

Yelp
Brunch at the coziest spot in all of Galway can't be beat on a rainy weekend morning! The food was amazing - the Ard Bia fry was perfect. The meats were so fresh and well seasoned. The relish was so bright and was excellent with the eggs. There are no reservations for weekend brunch so you'll have to get in line and wait for a spot. Luckily the line moves quickly so don't be discouraged. It is a bit tight in there though so not ideal for a group larger than 4-5. Service was excellent and very friendly. The ambience was the star though. There were so many warm little touches like wool pillows next to the bench that made the stone and wood interior feel cozy rather than cold. I only wish I could have stopped by for dinner to experience it under candle light. It would be so romantic.

Yelp
I waited a year for this dinner and it didn't disappoint. We had a work function here a year ago and everything was great...so when I returned to galway with family, this was our must go to. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding(my wife is vegetarian and said it was one of the best meals ever).

Yelp
Beautiful, simple food in a cozy setting (3.5 / 5 Green Stars) Even waiting outside in the heavy rain, everyone was excited about Ard Bia. Inside, the tables were lit with candles and staff members were welcoming. We had a quick brunch of wild mushroom tacos and the buttermilk & orange pancakes with berry compote and vanilla mascarpone. Both dishes were excellent and we marveled at the cost - around €22, literally 10 times less than dinner a couple of days later at the Earl of Thomond at Dromoland Castle. Which was better? Well both experiences were very memorable but Ard Bia is the one I'm most likely to repeat. I'm giving the Ard Bia 3.5 out of 5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, for these reasons: * A reasonable number of vegetarian and vegan dishes for most meals - especially brunch. * Aside from the beef at dinner, most of the animal proteins are on the more-sustainable end of the spectrum - chicken and seafood. The best thing Ard Bia could do to improve its footprint is cut the beef from its menus. * Sources for some proteins and cheeses are named on the menu (e.g., Hegarty's cheddar, Aran crab) but they could do better on transparency and communication on sustainability and sourcing. * Supports local art and an interesting project in the Burren, "creating a more localised economy and supply chain." * They charge €2 euro per table for water which "goes towards planting trees, wildflowers, vegetables and fruit trees on our land in the heart of the Burren to create biodiversity in the unique area."

Yelp
Great friendly staff and amazing food that utilizes local flavours and ingredients! We had a great time and enjoyed the country cabin homey atmosphere. Would recommend as a nice dinner out in Galway!

Yelp
The best meal we had in Ireland, a beautiful small restaurant with amazing local products, a fun wine list, and wonderful service. I just wish we could have gone in for brunch as well but our time was short.

Yelp
I don't usually give 5 stars but this place was just super cute & cozy. Remember to always open the drawer if you happen to be at table with it, you won't regret it! The pancakes were my absolute favorite!

Yelp
We enjoyed a lovely dinner at Ard Bia. So lovey I'd say it was the best meal in a long while. The restaurant is small with a nice simple but not boring comfortable atmosphere. We chose to be seated at the later of two seatings at 8 and were taken well care of by two friendly and knowledgeable staff. We enjoyed drinks, appetizers, breads, entrees, dessert and port. All were excellent. My entree, Hake with braised leeks, fondant potato, smoked onion purée and pine nuts was the best of all. The dish was served perfectly such that the delicately crunchy skin atop the superbly delicious Hake was simply amazing. The texture just right from top to bottom and the leeks beneath nearly melted in my mouth. I could go on - I'll close by saying the entree was so good I savored every bite and forked the last bite of Hake in two just to have one more. I've never done that until tonight. We have spent more for less many many times. I hope this entree stays on the menu for more folks to savor the Ard Bia continues to thrive.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible. From the fantastic, attentive service to the super cool intimate setting, the evening started out wonderfully. We were told not to rush, but ordered quickly as we were both famished. We decided not to try the starters, as we were determined to order dessert. My wife and I always try to order different entrees, but tonight we both had the black sole and it was stunning! Served on the bone over green beans, a delicious potato rostini and puréed peas, with a langoustine bisque, the flavor combination was incredible. I almost licked the dish clean. Although I'm certain the starters are exceptional, our decision paid dividends, as we ordered two deserts... both the lemon tart and the chocolate cake were inspired and decadent. As we finished, we couldn't decide which we enjoyed more. They were just so damn good. Ard Bia lived up to every bit of hype. Best restaurant in Galway in my opinion and I've tried dozens and dozens.

Yelp
There are a few things that you should know before you go to Ard Bia at Nimmos: - you should book your table in advance, otherwise no guarantee to get a seat. - the menu might be updated based on the season The restaurant is located next to the Spanish arch, it has the view of the canal. You will be welcomed by bread and butter. Which are very delicious. But I don't recommend you to eat all of that, you need to save space for food. We ordered Beetroot gnocchi and Pan roasted hake. The gnocchi was excellent no place for improvement. But the roasted vegetables in the hake dish, were so salty. I assume because the fish was placed on top of them the fish oil infused down to the vegetables and doubled the saltiness. If you like salty food, that will not be an issue for you. In general the staff were beyond friendly. If you want to enjoy food and view you should try this place.

Yelp
We are from California and have been traveling in London, Dublin and Galway for 10 days. Our lunch here was by far the best meal we've had on our trip so far! Loved the vibe of the restaurant. The food was delicious. Staff was friendly. They take walk ins for lunch, but you must have a reservation for dinner. Enjoy!

Yelp
Elevated rustic at its absolute best! From the location of the restaurant to the warm, inviting, and homey interior, to the simple, hand-gathered, wild foraged ingredients served on hand thrown ceramics, Ard Bia at Nimmos is the epitome of "support local, support handmade." The interior is all about organic textures and neutral colors, candlelight, and walls lined in house made pantry staples and local partners goods available for purchase. There is even a whole section of the restaurant's cookbook (for sale in house!) dedicated to shoutouts to their various local suppliers. The vibe is all artful collaboration. My partner described it as "a chef's passion project" and that felt really accurate. There is love in every ingredient and visible on every plate. I am vegetarian at home but tend to eat pescatarian out as it is sometimes hard to find veg options but I can always find fish (especially in Ireland!). I was absolutely chuffed to have multiple veg options in every category here. I started with the "dark and stormy" cocktail (but seriously eyed up that gin and tonic). Beautifully sharp ginger beer paired with spicy dark rum is always a treat. I then had the maple roasted parsnips with apple butter, wild mushrooms, chard, and hazelnuts. Surprisingly, so did my meatatarian spouse. We both agreed that it was fall on a plate. The flavors were so comforting and the plate of charred parsnips atop the brown mushrooms and sauce, laid next to a light salad, all scattered with toasted hazelnuts felt like dinner at your friend's house (who happens to be an awesome cook) but kicked up a notch. I then had the polenta cake main. If the parsnip starter was a hug, this was an intellectual conversation. I spent the entire course silent, processing the textures and flavors I was experiencing. It truly seemed like a finessed example of "salt, fat, acid, heat." Even my meat-loving husband (who was greatly enjoying the BBQ pork at the time) raved about the approachable complexity of the dish. Last, but not least, was the poached spiced plums with chantilly and crème fraiche, topped with a hazelnut and pistachio dust. The best decision we made all night was to each order our own! It was utterly dreamy, and I will spend my next few months trying to recreate it at home. My partner also had the local apple ice wine, for which we asked to see the bottle so we could snap a pic in order to hunt it down later. Amazing stuff. The price tag is not shy here but I feel like it is well worth it for a night out in the city. Ard Bia will be receiving my money as often as I can make it happen.

Yelp
Amazing brunch with the most gorgeous and beautiful dishes. Pretty centrally located restaurant. Loved everything about it

Yelp
When we mentioned we were going to Galway two separate friends insisted, very strongly, that we make a reservation here. After eating here we know why! It was a delightful experience from start to finish. Small, quirky, curated with care ... it's everything you want in a lovely, food-centered dining experience. The server was knowledgeable, friendly, patient with Americans, and checked back "just enough" to be attentive but not so often that it was intrusive. The mussels were the best either of us had ever had, and our entrees were perfect. It was wonderful, and afterwards we had a great walk along the river. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I have so many great things to say about Ard Bia at Nimmos. We were greeted warmly upon entering, and they even congratulated us on our nuptials and placed us at their "best seat in the house". It truly was because we got to peek out the window overlooking the river with dozens of swans swimming around. - The Mussels: Just get it. You will not be disappointed. We even joked that we'd return for lunch and dinner to order the same dish. - Ribeye: perfectly cooked, and so delicious paired with the beans. - Bluefin Tuna: this was probably our least favorite. It lacked flavor, and the fish was pretty overdone. So it was dry. Service was phenomenal, and the wines were delicious!

Yelp
They check all the boxes, delish food, great service and cool comfy atmosphere. Everything we ordered was over the top. This will be our first stop next trip.

Yelp
Great for solo diners. Got the same attention as other tables. Staff was great food was to die for!

Yelp
A HUGE 5 stars to this awesome gem of a restaurant in Galway. The food was amazing! The servers were lovely. The restaurant looks like an authentic page from an anthropologie catalog. Everything about this place was perfect! I will be back if I ever return to Galway. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Really an amazing place. Each dish is prepared to order. We all got different and all four were amazing. Bread service was outstanding and the special butters were yummy! Wines were good pours and a great selection. Dessert was good. Fish dishes are best and right out of the sea. Get reservation, they fill up every night
google avatar

Yelp
Very few times I've come to a fine dining restaurant and felt full. Not in the sense that you're going to expand into a balloon and float away, but instead leaving fulfilled. Every bite was robust in flavor and titillating. The atmosphere embodies Galway. Book your reservation ahead of time as the space is small and they fill up pretty early. We also enjoyed the strawberries but devoured them before I could snap a photo. The goat cheese was so light I almost floated away.

Yelp
Great food and service at reasonable prices One of the highlights of our Ireland trip

Yelp
This place is just fantastic. Came here for dinner during the one evening we had in Galway, and it's probably my favorite restaurant experience from our entire Ireland trip. The restaurant is easy to miss, especially at night. You have to pass under the Spanish Arch, and then walk for ten seconds until you arrive at a beautiful stone cottage. Ducking into the restaurant feels like entering someone's cozy, immaculate, gorgeously designed home. Pillows and white paneled walls, flowers everywhere, nooks and low ceilings. We were seated by a window overlooking the river -- kudos to the boyfriend for requesting this table specifically -- and right by the kitchen in the back. The food: also fantastic. I started with a glass of wine, and we ordered a whole range of freshly-sourced, creative dishes: mozzarella fritters, spiced fish + seaweed broth, West Cork hake with clams and chorizo, a veggie-based pasta dish with butternut squash, a ginger cake with brandy snap. Everything was delicious, the hake dish in particular. What a gem. Be sure to snag a reservation!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing. Came here two days in a row. Food is truly wonderful. Bought the cookbook. Wish I could come everyday.

Nora A.

Yelp
The appetizer was the best part of the meal - it was a slow roasted pork with bread and a sauce that was very delicious. We also ordered the pappardelle that came with goat cheese and mushrooms. It was pretty bland. I was really excited to go to this place because of all the great reviews but the menu on the night we were there didn't have a lot of things we'd like, and the main course was lackluster. Could've just been an off night. Staff and service was great and food came out quickly.

Lauren M.

Yelp
Quaint atmosphere, delicious food and friendly wait staff. Worth going and you'd be wise to make a reservation for dinner.

Zachary T.

Yelp
I was absolutely blown away at the quality of the service and food here. The people were so unbelievably kind that it felt like we were dining with longtime friends; when we mentioned we were looking for an extended story in a nearby town but weren't sure where to look, they wrote up a list of places to check out. The hake was absolutely delicious. Couldn't imagine a better experience. An absolute must.

Yelp
Great service, great selection of organic wine with friendly knowledge staff in a cool building.

Yelp
We had the incredible pleasure of meeting Roisin O (both of them) who together guaranteed that we would have the BEST dining experience! We four fell in love with Ireland the moment we stepped foot on it and the west coast, especially. So it was perfection to celebrate our last evening there in the stunning care of Roisin, the chef, and the entire staff. The decor is warm and inviting, the views of ALL the swans on the river was a gift, the food is outstandingly delicious and creative, and the two bottles of the Domaine Roche Audran Côtes-du-Rhône was the perfect topping. I had the soul and the others had the filet. All the ingredients are super fresh and bountiful. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for such a wonderful evening! We cannot wait to come back. xo the Shannons and Barrons

Yelp
I've been coming to Ard Bias for a few years, and I've never been disappointed. Mind you this has only been for brunch, but I can't see it being in any way a letdown if you come in for dinner. My only regret was that I never managed to sneak in at a different time of day. The service here is always fantastic, and they're ready to answer any questions that you have. The menu is very simply, and, honestly, that's a good thing. They do a few things extremely well, and they don't disappoint. I've ordered a few different brunch items, and I've left oh so very happy. They go out of their way to find good and/or local ingredients, and it definitely shows This place can get a bit crowded so be prepared to wait. Totally worth it. And if you're lucky, you can usually listen to someone playing the tin whistle under the arch. And if you're curious while you're waiting for your food, check out the drawers if your table them...

Yelp
I rarely if ever write reviews in a restaurant. I normally like time to gestate and think and see what was most memorable. However I was completely blown away by the food here. It may have been the tastied breakfast I have ever eaten,... ever. I am a huge breakfast food person so I love most things breakfast. I am sitting here with my fiancee I had the collerans honey baked ham and she had the asparagus and eggs. The food was so good I was inspired to write this at the table currently being asked to look up our next stop. If your in galway you would be doing yourself a disservice if you didnt stop here for breakfast.

Yelp
Perfect! Great food, service, and atmosphere! Highly recommend for romantic evening or just great food!

Yelp
I never wanted this stack of pancakes to end! Not even exaggerating. Stopped in on a quiet Friday morning and patrons seemed to be a mix of tourists and locals. I got a table immediately and service was quick and friendly. My mocha came out first and wasn't overly sweet which I appreciated. Sugar and milk is at every table, however, for those who prefer their coffee on the sweeter side. Pancakes came out next and I was in absolute HEAVEN! They were everything pancakes should be--light, fluffy, chewy, and in addition to the toppings (which were phenomenal) there was also a light drizzle of honey which was unexpected but unbelievably delicious! There was also a small but tasty assortment of pastries available. I was too full from my meal to partake but I did notice that one of the local women took a brownie to go so I would reason they are probably decent! The interior of this place is adorable--lowkey trendy and hip without being overdesigned--and in a great location by the Spanish Arch and The Long Walk (which is coincidentally very convenient for walking off your breakfast!). Overall very satisfied and would return and recommend to others looking for a delicious breakfast in a beautiful space.

Yelp
Ard Bia is one of those restaurant/cafes that is part of a cities culture. The food whether its brunch or dinner is always high in quality and the staff are always so welcoming. I've celebrated family events here and even been a customer from before they were at their current location. Highly recommended.

Yelp
This is the perfect place. Great vibes, food that feels like home, friendly staff. Loved it so much that we bought the cookbook.

Yelp
This is a top five or ten lifetime places for diner. Incredible ambiance and location, the mussels were sublime the proteins were incredibly well thought out and cooked to absolute perfection in my opinion and every one there was attentive and easy to talk to.

Yelp
This place is pretty awesome! I've now been here three times since I've been in Galway and have not been disappointed yet! The staff are friendly but what keeps me coming back is the food and the wonderful views of the Galway Bay. I have tried all three menus at this point, breakfast, brunch, and dinner. Each experience has just been awesome. I would say this place is a must try if you are visiting Bonnie Galway!

I was so impressed with this place for VARIOUS reasons. The location was prime and the vibe inside was perfect. It's super cool without trying too hard and not like any other place I've been. The atmosphere is casual and comfy, the service was top notch! - super friendly people that are so helpful and not pretentious even though they're servicing amazing / unique food. I was planning to be in Galway for my birthday this year so I made it a point to find some great unique places to go while I was there. It was my first time in Galway, and we were only going to be there for most of one day. I landed on Ard Bia at Nimmos after reading a bunch of great reviews and finding the beautiful aesthetic of their website, and some of the items they sell. This was the perfect choice for my birthday lunch. I had the ham sandwich that was pressed and on delicious bread. Done perfectly to balance all the ingredients and not be too overwhelming. I also loved what one of my friends got that was some kind of sweet potato special - this was one of my favorite things I hate on our whole trip around Ireland. Since it was my bday we also went for a piece of the delicious chocolate pie with mango & raspberries on top. Insanely good. The perfect cap to a delicious bday meal. I even treated myself to a copy of their cookbook (tons of great recipes) on the way out as a bday present to myself. All in all I'd DEFINITELY recommend this restaurant to any friend looking for a great + unique place in Galway. I was SO impressed by the aesthetic, design, service, and food. If you're questioning whether to check this place out, just do it.
