Areca Launceston

Location was ok if you are driving as it required a long steep ramp to access. No lift and needed to carry the luggage by stairs.Room is spacious enough and was clean. Only downside is no gym facilities.

Hotel is clean and nice. It looks quite new. We park our car in front of the hotel. Staff is friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

Access is a bit difficult but 100 percent worth it 👌. So clean and tidy with beautiful town view.

We enjoyed our two-night stay at the hotel. The staff at the reception were incredibly accommodating, offering us a ground floor room without even needing to be asked. This was especially helpful given my husband's mobility limitations.The room itself was clean and comfortable, with a queen-sized bed that was perfectly fine for us. The location was excellent, with numerous restaurants nearby. We were pleasantly surprised to find complimentary bottled water in the room.One of the highlights of our stay was the stunning sunset views from our room, which made for a truly memorable experience.

The hotel wasn't easy to get to and had limited carparking. There were a lot of steep steps to get to reception. Luckily I was with my husband so he went reception as I have mobilty issues and can't use steps. The room was ok. The shower was mouldy around the edges and the tiles were VERY slippery. Not good for someone with mobilty issues. The bed was average. While it had some nice views, I wouldn't stay here again.

Having last reviewed Areca in Jan 2021, we can report that it is still clean, comfortable, quiet, and great value for money. Our choice was a King room on the upper floor with superb views, responsive wi-fi, and room controlled air-con. The premium for a King room is very small. Definitely worth considering for a most spacious room, as well as one of the most comfortable huge beds that we have ever slept in. It does involve heading up one flight of stairs (no lift) and there are also steps upto reception at the adjoining Waratah. Therefore Areca might not be the best choice for those with mobility issues, but business travellers in particular should have a good night at a conveniently located boutique hotel with a study desk and parking on site. We again found the staff to be most pleasant and helpful. Spot-on suggestions were made about breakfast options as Areca no longer offers breakfast, contrary to information on this Tripadvisor listing. We also went with 4 stars rather than 5 as the rather austere room chairs provide a nice looking decor, but perhaps are a bit dated and lacking in longer stay comfort. All in all though, we would be happy to return again, and recommend Areca as a great value option on the fringe of Launceston CBD

I stayed 6 nights at the Areca in Launceston. Quick and easy check-in. Very friendly staff at reception. The reception is not at Areca but only just behind at the Waratah on York. There is a night entrance and lots of security camera’s around. As a solo traveller I definitely felt very safe.|I would definitely recommend the hotel. Great location, beautiful view of City Park and beyond. |There is no lift but I managed to manoeuvre my luggage quite easily. The hotel is small and located away from traffic noise, which is great for a good night’s sleep. The bed was super comfy, as were the pillows. Nice toiletries supplied along with tea and coffee station. A lovely walk to town to try out many of the amazing cafes. |If you have any issues with climbing stairs then I would recommend you request the ground floor. You would definitely need a car if you have any mobility issues as there is a very steep hill to walk down. I walked up and down for my entire stay without any issues and I’m a moderately fit 60 year.|I will definitely be staying at the Areca on my next visit.

Rooms large and spacious. Our room was fitted out with all the kit for people with disability. As I’m learning to be one of those people the hard way, I felt the consideration definitely made life easier. It did seem incongruous thought that there was a nasty flight of stairs up to reception. I had to get the better half to check in. The view across Launceston to the Tamar was lovely, as was the faint chiming of bells every fifteen minutes. It truly was a lovely room. But one slight downer. Even on a cool night it was overly warm and airless. Be prepared to whack the A/C on. Definitely great value for money.
