How to Take Your Dream Trip to the Maldives on a Budget

"Out of the three islands, Maafushi is the most touristy, with a mix of simple guesthouses and affordable hotels (rooms at the 4-star Arena Beach Hotel Maafushi are often available for less than $150 a night)." - Jillian Kramer

Conveniently located on Maafushi with a private beach, and rooms are cleaned twice a day. However I’ll not recommend this hotel at all. Firstly, we had some issues with loud motor noises coming from the air conditioning compressor. When we raised the issue to the front desk, the staff was nonchalant. When we asked to change our rooms, she offered another room with the exact same issue. Totally unhelpful. The noise was only partially resolved after 3 rounds of complaints. There’s totally no sound proofing as well, and the toilet stinks so bad - there’s probably some issues with their piping. Needless to say, we had a pretty restless trip. Also, the dinner and breakfast buffet was mediocre and at times unappetising. You’ll find better options in other restaurants on the island. Excursions was a total mess and a scam. The very rude Arabic guy will talk you through some sales pitch during check in, promising great drone photos and the cheapest rates. However, the package offered was quite a scam. “Dolphin watching” was included in our shark bay package, but in reality the crew only notify you during the trip itself that it’s not guaranteed, and they’ll only stop the boat if they spot a dolphin whilst transiting from place to place. Drone shots are only available at a US$15 top up, and this was not communicated at point of sale. What a scam. In addition, when we went for a resort tour, the hotel forgot to submit the name lists of the guests, resulting in longer check in times and wasting an hour of the trip. All in all, I’ll not recommend this hotel. What was supposedly a relaxing trip has turned into disappointment and endless frustrations.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and truly enjoyed our vacation. The rooms were always very clean and comfortable, and the beautiful sea view from the balcony made every morning special. Housekeeping was excellent – the room was cleaned daily, with towels changed every day or even more often if needed. The staff were extremely kind, helpful, and always willing to assist with a smile. Their friendliness and professionalism made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. We would happily return and can highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and pleasant holiday

I have had massages in many countries around the world, but Dawa truly exceeded everything I have ever experienced. With her exceptional professionalism, sensitivity, and warm-hearted nature, she creates an atmosphere where you feel completely relaxed and safe from the very first moment. You can immediately feel that she works with great experience, dedication, and genuine care. Every touch is mindful, precise, and deeply healing – bringing harmony to both body and soul. Dawa is not only an outstanding massage therapist, but also a truly wonderful person. I wholeheartedly recommend her and am incredibly grateful for this very special experience.

Spent 3 nights here on vacation based off of reviews. The staff here are incredibly nice though the entire island is very nice and friendly. It seems this group which owns 3 hotels here all connected and about to be a 4th has grown too fast. Everyday there is construction in the hotel and there’s no notices of any construction. The AC is awful blows out barely any cool air and makes loud noises. The glass slider for the balcony wasn’t properly installed and you can fit your hand through the bottom left corner and right top corner and it makes an insanely loud noise 24/7 when there’s wind and there’s wind every single day. Bring up the issues to the hotel and they’re sold out with no other rooms available. There’s many other hotels on this island, highly recommend avoiding anything that starts with arena as their excursions are also a joke. You’ll pay over 50 USD per person to waste an entire day driving on a boat through very rough seas to see some sting rays. Stay elsewhere and book excursions elsewhere. Also Dont book any transport through the hotel as it’s also more expensive than anyone else even if you’re a guest of the hotel

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 — The Best Hospitality Experience in Maldives! I recently stayed at Arena Hotel, Maldives, and I can confidently say it is one of the best hotels when it comes to hospitality. From the moment we arrived till our departure, the entire experience was exceptional. The receptionist and the whole staff were incredibly kind, humble, and polite. They truly go above and beyond to help you with anything you need. No matter what you ask for, they always respond with a warm “yes” and make sure it’s arranged for you. Their dedication to customer satisfaction is something you rarely find. A big thank you to the management team and the CEO for their vision and hard work in creating such a fantastic hotel experience. As Indians, we really value warm hospitality — and Arena Hotel understands this perfectly. They know exactly how to make guests feel comfortable, cared for, and fully satisfied. The hotel also has one of the best infinity pools in the Maldives, and we enjoyed it a lot! The property is beautiful, the service is top-notch, and despite all this, the rates are very reasonable — making it a great choice for Indian travelers planning a trip to the Maldives. Thank you, Arena Hotels Maldives, for giving us such wonderful memories. Highly recommended to everyone visiting the Maldives!

Our several-day stay at Arena Hotel was wonderful. The staff were extremely friendly — at every step we were met with warm smiles. The room was cleaned daily. Delicious breakfasts with a large variety of food. Clean pools. Beach service. Organized airport transfer. Everything was arranged perfectly down to the last detail. We also took part in a hotel excursion (Shark Bay). It was an exciting experience that we will never forget. The excursion staff were very friendly and took great care of guests’ safety and satisfaction at every step. Definitely worth it. Greetings to Ali and the whole team!

Our stay in the hotel was very good. I can recommend the hotel for anyone who searches for friendly accommodation and a nice food. The staff were super nice we were very lucky to meet them. Unfortunately we have a concern about the room space. And a guy in the reception. He can easily skip you just to talk to someone else that would be beneficial for him.. Really our experience there was so good.. If there is anything i can recommend it could be just that they add more variety in buffet.
