"With its pristine beaches, emerald lagoons, and wildlife-filled jungles, Manuel Antonio National Park is considered one of the world’s most beautiful natural wonders. There’s no better place from which to explore it than the five-star Arenas del Mar, an 11-acre hotel and reserve that’s set atop rain-forested cliffs overlooking the Pacific and delivers just the right amount of luxury within walking distance of the park. (Just don’t be surprised to cross paths with the occasional monkey, sloth, crab, or iguana.) The rooms on the upper level have ocean views and feature hot tubs on large terraces; beachfront rooms are a particularly good choice for families with children thanks to easy access to the lower pool and the casual Playitas Restaurant. But the resort is also an unexpected culinary beacon, serving sustainable dock-to-dish seafood caught by local fisherman that morning and certified gluten-free options alongside traditional Costa Rican specialties."

Our experience at this beautiful hotel was flawless from beginning to end! Before we even arrived, the concierge helped us plan a number of adventures -- a tour of Manuel Antonio park, zip lining, a night hike, and more. The nearby area has so much to do and the hotel can help you with all the options! Our room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean, with a beautiful view of the ocean. Room perks include a complimentary mini-bar with beer, drinks, and snacks, and one free laundry service which came in handy halfway through our trip. The hotel has access to a private beach, and the lifeguards set up chairs and towels for us whenever we arrived. You can have drinks and meals on the beach as well. The service was impeccable. Every person who helped us was friendly and professional. Special thanks to Vanessa for a fantastic spa treatment. I wish I could name all the staffers because they were terrific! Highly recommend this hotel.

We had such an incredible experience at Arenas del Mar on our recent trip! The grounds are beautiful, beachfront restaurant was gorgeous, and the food and drink were very tasty! We had excellent service from everyone we encountered - from Rafael the golf cart driver, to Karen (we miss you!), Christian, Luis Alejandro, Alexis and Bryan in the restaurants and bars, and Julian (THE BEST!) and Maria, our tour guides. It felt like we almost had the resort to ourselves, because it was never crowded anywhere despite being completely full. We loved seeing all of the wildlife all over the resort, and hope to come back some day! Pura vida!

We arrived at Arenas Del Mar last night December 1st, 2025. We had a wonderful dinner, red snapper and fettuccini with mushroom and a bottle of Pinot Noir with Cost Rican Imperial Beer. Service was excellent. This morning we woke up to an iguana sitting outside our balcony and nearby monkeys on trees and roofs. Yes, we are glad that we selected an ocean facing balcony room, (503B). The view is stupendous. Breakfast was magnificent, service quick, coffee, fruit, eggs to go including refried beans ( much better here than in USA. I enjoyed the cost rican coffee (take home) coconut banana pancakes and we had a chia bowl full of nuts, service was excellent. The concierge was very helpful this morning in planning our trip to Manuel Antonio national park and a sunset walk. Arenas Del Mar also has attentive attendants who will take you anywhere in a cart. Definitely a “5”. Very happy

In short: this resort is beautiful and worth the price. We visited in early December and experienced some rain (occasionally quite heavy) during the evenings and nights. However, this didn’t take away from the beauty of the place. The stunning views, the close proximity to the beach, and the daily monkey sightings make this resort truly special. The rooms are spacious and cleaned twice a day. There’s a complimentary laundry service, and the drinks in the minibar are also free and restocked daily. Just be sure to keep the cabinets locked: the monkeys will try open them and steal any food they find! Both on-site restaurants serve delicious food. As vegetarians, we were pleasantly surprised by the wide variety of vegetarian options, and even after five days, we never got tired of the meals. The service is incredible. The staff are exceptionally kind and helpful, consistently going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We also highly recommend the excursions to Manuel Antonio and the Rainmaker Reserve. A really good spot if you visiting the Manuel Antonio area. Pura vida!

This was our second stay at Arenas Del Mar during low season, and it was just as incredible as last year. The staff is so welcoming and truly makes you feel special from the moment you arrive. They’re also amazing with kids—so kind, patient, and genuine—and even remembered our children by name from last year, which meant so much to us. Although the main restaurant was under construction this time, the team went above and beyond to make it up to us. Our room was beautiful—spacious, spotless, and perched above the ocean with a huge balcony and a small private jacuzzi. The views of the coastline and surrounding jungle were absolutely stunning. Breakfast was complimentary and outstanding—fresh, healthy, and beautifully presented with the best fruit and coffee. The property itself is pristine and lush, with perfectly maintained grounds and a private beach that feels secluded and peaceful. The rum tasting was such a fun experience and another example of how thoughtful and personal they make each guest’s stay. The wildlife here is incredible—capuchin, howler, and squirrel monkeys swing through the trees daily, and we saw two sloths by the beach. It was wonderful to see some of the same staff from last year—Alex, Farlan, and Alexis were amazing. They even brought out a chess set for our daughter and spent nearly an hour playing with her. Arenas Del Mar continues to be one of our favorite places anywhere—beautiful, relaxing, and full of heart

Wow wow wow. ||||Not the easiest place to get to but so worth it. The views are amazing. The rooms are comfy. Staff are all lovely. Breakfast is included and really good. Dinner was excellent. I can't find anything to improve on. Will return.||||Walking along the public beach to the national park is a must do and if you want to try another restaurant or pick up some snacks.

Wish I could give more than 5 stars!!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The resort itself was immaculate. The grounds and rooms were very clean. What made the stay even better were the people. Everyone from the front desk, to restaurants, cleaning crews, drivers were so friendly and warm. The staff are a huge asset to this property!!! They gave great local recommendations for around the area. We did a few excursions and went to the local farmers market. The pools and beach are very relaxing with lots of wild life visiting. If you want a more adventurous area you can walk to Espadilla beach and rent surfboards!!! Manuel Antonio park is a must to visit. We will most definitely be staying here again in the future, bringing our kids next time!

Our recent 4 day stay at Arenas Del Mar Beachfront & Rainforest Resort was amazing! Monkeys and iguanas everywhere! Our beautiful room overlooked the ocean and we fell asleep to the crashing waves every night. The staff & service was impeccable! Everyone was so friendly and helpful! We travel all over the world and this was by far one of the best resorts we have ever stayed in! On a scale of 1 to 10, Arenas Del Mar was a 20!!
